Carambola (Davis) Beach is accessed at the entrance to the resort. Parking is available up a small hill. The walk to the beach is about five minutes, so is the walk back, but it is uphill. The walk takes you through a swanky resort, very pretty, The beach is something off a tropical postcard set against small mountains, There is wonderful wave action and great sand. Pelicans will hit the water right next to you trying to get dinner. The resort sets out a certain number of chairs and no one monitors who uses them. There is shade under the palm trees. There is also a fresh water shower on the beach also used by all. Drinks are available via the resort hut and I would guess you could eat at their restaurant if so inclined. We went to this beach twice and almost had the beach to ourselves. Magical! We noted that Cane Bay Beach and Rainbow Beach were not nearly as nice, but both of those beaches had restaurants of note, No one in our group wanted to search out a different beach during our stay on the island. Carambola was just too perfect.

This beach in front of the Carambola Beach Resort is open to the public as are all beaches on St. Croix, yet is almost never crowded. There is the advantage of the luxury hotel just steps away, for cold drinks at the bar or a light lunch, and the views from the beach are spectacular - like the NaPali Cliffs in Hawaii. Maroon Ridge, to the west of the beach, is a secluded area where escaped slaves once lived in caves in the cliffs, and the renowned "baths", or tidal pools, lie below those same cliffs. The beach is gorgeous, and there is a dive shop for equipment rentals right at the beach.

Davis Bay is beautiful. The only real thing there is the Renaissance Carambola Resort, which is fantastic. There is great snorkeling and a dive shop right at the resort. The views are spectacular, and on a clear day or night, you can see all the way across to St Thomas. One fun fact is that, unlike Cane Bay and other parts of the island, there are almost NO mosquitoes there! We were told it was because of the prevailing winds and how the bay is oriented. I am not sure if that is the case or not, but it was glorious. Fun Fact: the final scenes of the movie "Trading Places", with Eddie Murphy and Dan Ackroyd, (the sailboat and beach scene) were shot at Davis Bay, before the resort was built. :)

You can get to this beach by going through the gate of the Carambola Beach Resort, which is beyond spectacular.

Driving down to get to his beach, we were like WOW. Couldn't believe how gorgeous the setting was. It looked like it was right in the middle of a rain forest, very lush and green. We purchased drinks at the bar and had a great lunch of fish and chips, which was grouper, at one of the restaurants, which was soooooo good.

The water was kind of rough on the day we went because there were storms the previous two days. It didn't hinder us from enjoying one second here, though.

Enjoy a nice hike to the beach and totally enjoy the seclusion and natural beauty of the bay. Enjoy a walk along the bay to see calm quiet waters and some sea life. A MUST SEE LOCATION!!!!

Davis Bay at the renaissance resort was terrible Rocky, no sand and very agressive seas. Not recommend for snorkling. Hpefully in the coming years they can restore the beach at least.

Some years ago we discovered Davis Bay. We have become frequent visitors. West end north shore of St Croix is world class. I'm an open water distance swim/snorkel enthusiast. I go out for hours at a time. Mostly alone because dive shops don't cater to old men that like to push the edge. North shore has a strong westerly current ... which changes daily. Always swim into the current and drift back from Carambola ... which is the only beaching opportunity before the maroons. If your a strong ocean swimmer and desire adventure and unspoiled seas ... this is the place. I've returned for 8 consecutive years.

The day we went to Davis Bay, the beach at Marriott Carambola, we found it rough. It was windy and there were big waves. We were told that when the weather is good it is better. It is a small beach. It is near the rainforest, where they do guided hikes to the Tide Pools.

This beach had by far the most stunning views on the entire island. We stayed at the Renaissance mainly because it was tucked away on this gorgeous beach situated between the hills and rainforest. It's a photographers dream. We had so much fun in the waves boogey boarding. Can't wait to return!

We loved our stay! The best beach on the island!! They do have great snorkeling and scuba diving, with equipment rentals available. It is located in the Rain Forest portion of the island and is very secluded.
