One of the best, if not the best, beaches I’ve seen so far, and I’ve seen a lot. Located on the north shore of this little island , the beach has the perfect sand (fine granes and white-light cream color) and water with amazing turquoise- green tones, clarity and cleanliness. We were lucky to have a bright sunny day and calmed seas. This is a small island with no facilities or development of any kind. It’s all about its amazing beautiful nature with shallow turquoise warm waters, fine sands, picturesque rock formations and vegetation, and many iguanas. You have to arrive by bote. The perfect cast away paradise. Pictures don’t do justice to what you actually watch there.

If you want to visit Half Moon Bay but don't want to do the whole tour group thing, consider taking a water taxi for a private drop off and pickup. Denise and Looda from Caribbean Crusin' were great to work with - I emailed in advance to get info but found it easier to call when we were on the island since they need credit card info for the deposit. For $55 round trip plus tax, per person, we were dropped off for a 3 hour stay. Their office is at the Boathouse of the Blue Haven Resort and there is also a market/cafe there as well as public restrooms. The water taxis typically leave between 10-11am but you discuss the specific timing with the office since they do coordinate multiple groups. The ride was about 10-15 minutes, quick and smooth. We were dropped off at the south end of Half Moon Bay and were the only people on the beach for a period of time. It's an amazing feeling to be alone in such a gorgeous location. A few tour boats did come and go during our visit. Though it's possible to walk over toward the "Iguana Island" side (20 min walk) we didn't need to - if you head into the grassy area, you'll suddenly find yourself surrounded by iguanas (fortunately, calm and totally nonplussed by humans). Bring everything you need for 3 hot hours of the beach: cooler with lunch, lots of water, sunscreen, some bug spray as there are some errant sand flies, snorkel gear if you want (though we didn't see a ton of fish), etc. I would have loved to have brought a beach umbrella or some shade. The colors of the water and sky are amazing and the light was great for photography. I regret not bringing a tripod as this would have made a most amazing location for a family photo. We loved our private time there!

Peaceful, unspoiled little island that gives you an idea of what the area looked like before tourism. Don't stay where the tour boats drop you off. Explore the island and look around. It is very small so you cannot get lost. You'll catch iguanas out sunning and birds hopping around. Advice: DO NOT remove your sandals when walking around the little sand dunes where the iguanas hang out. Once you walk off the beach area and cross over to the center of the island, there are nasty little white burrs that will attach themselves to your skin. Then when you walk, each step pushes them deeper in. They actually look like little white triangular teeth. My daughter made this mistake and had about 5 stabbing her. We had to pick her up, remove the burrs, then get her sandals on her. I couldn't believe no one had told us about this, so hope it helps someone else

I visited this island 4 years ago but it rained and the iguanas were no where to be found. I went back last week and the iguanas were everywhere. For a moment, I was nervous as they run towards you but nothing happens. The lagoon is absolutely beautiful and warm. Visit this island if you can..wear food wear..the prickly balls will stick to feet and hurt.

My husband and I are avid beach lovers, and I have to say this is probably the most beautiful beach we've seen EVER!
We went as a part of Turks and Caicos Dream tours, a catamaran sailing cruise that includes a stop on Half moon bay.
As soon as we got off the catamaran, we encountered a fair number of iguanans, including two competing males! After joining in on the bandwagon in snapping the customary amount of iPhone pictures we walked straight across the island to the little slice of beach.
I'm going to rave about the beach, because it is the most beautiful, gorgeous otherworldly blue! It even inspired me to name a new color: Tazteal! The perfect perfect combination of turquoise, azure and teal! Cerulean perfection!
We jumped in, and spent about 30 minutes reveling in Poseidon's glory. There are no words to describe being surrounded by turquoise, in the most serene romantic location ever!
The water gets to about 6-7 feet deep about 5-10 feet from the shore , and walking in can be a little bit of a pain with the broken coral.... But to float in this neon paradise is an experience of a lifetime, and one that should not be missed.
If you're considering going, GO! It is so so so worth it.
Do keep in mind that there's nothing on this little cay, but iguanas and the beach, so don't expect much in the way of entertainment. But if you're seeking glorious waters, this then is a must!

Half moon bay is definitely worth the boat trip out there. Call,Okeanos Boat Charters 333-6329 you want a cheap way of getting there. You can stop to see the iguanas while you're there.

This was the most spectacular beach we went to in Turks and Caicos. You can only reach it by boat, so it's not crowded (we went via Caicos Dream Tours). The water is even bluer than at Grace Bay, which I didn't think was possible. There's not a lot of shade though and no umbrellas, so keep that in mind if you go. Be sure to look for iguanas by the trees!

We were dropped on the other side of the island by our snorkel tour. We had an hour to explore and if I'd known what Half Moon Bay looked like, I would have demanded several more hours. It is stunning but remote. We felt like we were shipwrecked on a romantic and beautiful deserted island.

Worth a visit while in Provo. I got there via a boat drop-off that included a guided tour of the Iguana Island. Make sure to go through the vegetation and through to a pristine little beach adjacent to Half Moon Bay beach on Little Water Cay.

The actual Half Moon Bay beach is pristine yet there's quite a bit of boat traffic going through and lots of people getting on and off boats. There's no on-foot access to the beach from Leeward, you have to arrive by boat.

Caribbean Cruisin' has affordable options to get to the beach. They're located near the TCI ferry in the easternmost Leeward.

This bay is breathtaking. We booked a half day excursion that included lunch (conch salad and snapper). Looking back, I wish we could have stayed all day! Wonderful place, especially for pics. Saw some stingray off the beach.
