Most of the cruise passengers hang out at the beach right next to the cruise ships. There are plenty of restaurants & shops in that area. There is also Pop & Island music blaring the whole time too. I wasn’t in the mood for partying so I decided to go for a run. I came across Governor’s beach first (approximately 0.8 miles from the ship). It was closer to the ship than I expected so I kept going to get a little more distance in my run. Eventually I came to an unmarked road on the left where I could see the water about 1/8th mile away. This would lead me to a sign that read Columbus Landfall national Park. Once I arrived at the beach I could see the cruise ships to my left and some people on horseback at Governor’s beach. I went right and the cruise ship and everyone else disappeared. I felt like Tom hanks in Castaway, except I had plenty of fresh water and food. I also knew how I would get home. There were two cruise ships in port with about 6,000 to 8,000 passengers total and I was the only person on this beach. I have lived in a beach community for a few years of my life and this was my all-time favorite beach experience. It’s hard to beat having a private beach in the Caribbean. A three mile run is a small hurdle to enjoy this hidden gem. I would have gladly run 10 just to see it.

We were on the cruise ship Carnival Vista when we stopped at this port in Turks & Cacaos. If you love to party then the ‘Margaritaville’ restaurant and pool party at the port is the place for you. Also, the ship sells an excursion called ‘Poolside Cabana Rental.’ There are about 12 to 15 cabanas surrounding the large pool area and seemed to be a popular choice for accommodating large families. It has air condition inside and a cute outside porch. But I loved to snorkel and after reading blogs I decided to explore the reef at the port as so many had suggested. I was happy I did. If you love to snorkel, this is all you need to do. Grab your water shoes and snorkel/mask and head off the ship. Turn right and walk down the beach that eventually bends to the left. About a 15 minute walk, or so, and you will bend left at the point where you can snorkel this entire shallow reef along the beach. It’s beautiful. We saw a large variety of reef fish and sea urchins. The water is clear and the beach is typically isolated. We were the only ones there for a few hours before everyone else discovered it. I would definitely go back to Turks & Cacaos and snorkel this beach again. There was a sign ‘Columbus Landfall National Park’ and it noted that the area was a “mixed use zone.” The sign listed activities from shore like swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving and kayaking. The sign states that there is no lifeguard but the reef is so close to shore so wind and waves or ocean current wasn’t an issue at all.

Arrived by Cruise line Carnival ( Splendor ) I found the island to be beautiful except for the poverty . The water is as clear as Gin . The coral plentiful / we stayed the day and visited many places this being the best of them all . If you like friendly people and a good deal then this place is for you . I had only one complaint , we had folks with us who did not scuba dive or snorkel .. They found it hard to get into the water because of the coral reefs and there close proximity to the beach . I suggest bringing water shoes with you if you decide to visit any part of grand Turk ... I would have given it 5 stars if they would have told us about the sharp coral in public swimming areas or atleast sold them in the village .. Enjoy !!

The most wonderful sand, ultra-clear bathlike water, and the most incredible reef I've seen. "The Wall" drops off from 30' to 7000' (yes, seven THOUSAND feet) - breathtaking.

Columbus Landfall National Park is all around the island. The locals respect the water, reef and fish without question. Unfortunately on land they do not share quite the same respect of their surroundings. They were absolutely incredible people and great to talk to and share recipees. However, I really wanted to help clean the area a bit.
Next trip will be to help.

Columbus Landfall National is a protected marine sanctuary, with a 7000 foot wall playing the starring role for divers, anyone who appreciates the natural environment, The Turks & Caicos Islands has the third longest barrier coral reef system in the world, Grand Turk, its Capitol, hosts myriad colourful fishes, corals, turtles, wrecks as well as a centuries old town that's perfect for a relaxing sunset.
Weather you arrive by cruise ship, have been coming here for years, or an old salt like me, Grand Turk is the place to be.

Comprising essentially the entire west side of Grand Turk, this protected area provides great swimming, snorkeling and diving. the beaches are beautiful, and the sunsets can't be beat.
Grab a snack or dinner at the Osprey, Sand Bar, or Bohio and and enjoy. you can't go wrong here.

We were looking to have a nice relaxing beach day and most everyone gets off the ship and heads to the beach and pool offered at the nearby Margaritaville. With two cruise ships in port, it was extremely busy and loud so we went for a walk and ended up at the Columbus Landfall National park where there is a much quieter beach with gorgeous views. Hike over to Boaby Rock Point to see the interesting rock formations. If you have time, there's a fantastic reef for snorkeling just north of Boaby Rock point.

nice beach located near town. if you want a quieter beach, away from the cruise terminal=come here. I do recommend water shoes-rocky and rough spots on feet. the water here is crystal clear. restaurants and shops are nearby.

No venders here. Just a little public beach with a couple of benches and a huge shade tree. We really enjoyed the beach.

Can you get there with public transit? How much is it to enter the National Park? Are you allowed to snorkel from any of the beaches?
