We went to the park and picked up a flat boat. The guide was so amazing he could see things in the trees from 100 yards away. He showed us Tree Boas, Anteaters and an array of birds. We arrived at an opening and the boat was stopped. Then from left to right flocks of Scarlet Ibis landed on the island in front of us making the trees look as if they had flowered before our eyes. There were thousands of them. Wonderful

The mangrove swamp tour to see the Scarlet Ibis is a must while visiting Trinidad. The tour through the swamp and seeing boa's, and other animals were great, but seeing the large flocks of Scarlet Ibis coming into the mangroves to roost in the evening was amazing.

What a pleasure for the eyes when the red Ibis set down in the tress, while the sun goes down!
It looks like a tree full of red flowers! What a natural spectacle!
...not only for ornithologists
