Beautiful beach close to the capital
Wonderful beach at about 40 minutes ride from Port of Spain. Very lively on weekends. Try to get there early to get one of the best spots under palm trees. Sunshades and sun loungers are for rental. There are great beach restaurants all over. It is a place to go with friends, family and kids will have a lot of fun. FYI at the beach is only one big bathroom and place to change where they charge entry and sometimes are long waiting lines.

    Great beach day
Great day in Trinidad. We stopped by as a port on our cruise. We were able to book a tour which ended at Maracas beach. The beach is a local beach. We are able to rent chairs and an umbrella. The beach was so beautiful. The waves were a bit rough and the water was not clear but I still enjoyed the experience. Across the street were affordable local eateries. We were able to try bake & shark; it is a must have. Overall a fun family day on a great island.

Great tine with family. Beach could use some upkeep. Water was nice temp. But due rainy season, the waves were a little rough. Very scenic view. Be mindful that the facilities charge $1-5 USD to use lavatories and beach showers.

    Beautiful and relaxing beach
Excellent beach! Took the maracas beach break excursion from Royal Caribbean. Felt perfectly safe. Plenty of places for beer and rum to take back to your towels. Bought a double shot of rum and poured it into a fresh coconut someone cut up for me on the beach. Double shot $7, coconut $5, beers $3 (US DOLLARS). They will try to sell you chairs but you can put your towels on the ground for no charge. Get the shark sandwich!

A lively beach with plenty of food and drinks
We visited Maracas Beach via a RC Excursion. Four chairs and two umbrellas cost $40. The chair and umbrella were in excellent shape and no color loss. A few vendors came thru the rows of chairs, but were very polite and not pushy in any way. We ate lunch at Richard's Bake N Shark. Three sandwiches cost $24. The area was very clean with some local music being played to set the mood. We had a lovely day and would return if given the chance.

    Bake and Shark At Maracas
Maracas Beach is indeed a beautiful destination! Located in Trinidad and Tobago, it's known for its stunning golden sands, clear blue waters, and lush green surroundings. The beach is a popular spot for both locals and tourists alike, offering opportunities for swimming, sunbathing, picnicking, and even surfing when the conditions are right. One of the unique features of Maracas Beach is the opportunity to indulge in some delicious local cuisine, particularly the famous "bake and shark" sandwich, a Trinidadian specialty made with fried shark meat served in a fried dough known as "bake" and topped with various condiments and sauces. It's a must-try for visitors to the beach! Whether you're there to relax on the sand, enjoy the ocean views, or savor some tasty treats, Maracas Beach offers a fantastic experience for anyone looking to soak up the beauty of Trinidad and Tobago's coastline.

An Hour Over Winding Roads from the Cruise Port
We visited Maracas Beach as an excursion during a cruise. The ride took about an hour over a winding mountain road. The bathroom options were not great and expect to pay a fee for chairs and umbrellas. You will save money if you get your food from the local restaurants on your own or you can pay extra and have the locals bring it to you. Be sure to bring cash. Uncle Sam’s is famous for the shark bake sandwich. The beach is flat and you can walk out a good distance into the waves.

I love Maracas beach but it can become so overcrowded as the day progresses. I personally visit the beach earlier in the morning between 7am to 11am. That way I get to enjoy the views and sights and stay away from the majority of the crowds which show up around lunch time. Also visiting Asha's Bake and Shark is a must!

We enjoyed our day at Maracas beach. It was sunny, beautiful and relatively empty (it was a Sunday mind you). Keep in mind if you want a chair they'll charge you 40 TT for each one. The sand is really nice and my girlfriend said the water was warm. People don't bug you either. Make sure to get a Bake+Shark at Richard's!

The northern cost is noted for its beaches. The most popular is Maracas Beach. This beach is very crowded on Sundays as the locals like to enjoy a day at the beach. On the day I visited, there were additional crowds for the Subway [sandwich chain] Maracas Open Water Classic. Among the events was a swimming race . There are lots of food stands along the beach, serving the local specialty, bake and shark.

The advice given to me when visiting Trinidad was to spend the day at Maracas Beach. Due to timeframes and trying to fit everything in, I couldn’t, but I ensured that I visited, went for a swim and had a Bake and Shark.

I can see why I was given the advice to spend the day! This beach rivals many in Tobago with beauty and access. The palm trees lining the wide bay with white sands and gentle waves. We arrived early, as we had a full day of sights to see with Sensation Tours and Transport, and we got straight into the water. After a refreshing swim in the breaking waves, we had to experience the local specialty of Bake and Shark (taking into account conservation issues , it was a one off).

As it was early in the day, the foods stands were still prepping lunch, but were still open for business. The stands all have similar foods and drinks for sale. Along the beach we were offered rental deck chairs, not in a pushy way. Plenty available for a busy day.

The beach has plenty of amenities including a car park and paid changing rooms/toilets.

We came here while touring various beaches on the northern end of the island. It was not too crowded (was a Friday/weekday) and lovely. There are nicer beaches for sure but none of the others will have as much infrastructure as this one - gas, restaurants, bars, music, toilets, etc…

Beach was absolutely beautiful, clean and the water was divine. Lifeguards were present and the beach felt really safe! Facilities were so clean and the staff were really lovely. I cannot recommend enough this beach as it was truly an awesome experience!
