Just back from Bequia where my husband and son spend most of their timing diving with Dive Bequia. They did their Advanced Open Water qualification and loved every minute. Cathy, Bob and their team are fantastic and the dive locations were stunning. They loved seeing...More

Cathy and her crew run the best dive shop in the grenadines just a few feet from the sparkling waters of Bequai bay. That was what I was told by trip advisor and other sites. They were 100 percent correct.

Completely disagreeing with Fairmax’s review, I had a great experience at Dive Bequia! Cathy and the rest of the dive crew were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the marine life in the area. I completed my Open Water Certification with Cathy and she was an...More
We went to Dive Bequia after hearing from friends about how fabulous this crew was to dive with. Frankly I found a very poor attitude on service and friendlessness and we left two days early to go back to Carricoua to dive. It was like...More

Thanks for the appreciation about our place, dive spots and good ( I guess food was a typo?) guides. It's not cheap running a business that imports all its equipment with approximately 41% import taxes and duties but for dives where equipment is...More
Hi everyone, thinking about taking a solo trip to Bequia for scuba diving. I'm looking at diving with Dive Bequia and maybe staying at the Village Apartments in late May. Wasn't sure if this a decent location for a solo traveler or if somewhere else would be more suitable. I like the idea of a kitchen to do some meals in, thinking of budget on that one. Always concerned about safety in general, but have traveled to other locations solo and know not to be stupid. Also, I looked at average...More

I think Village Apartments would be a great place for you. They are very conveniently located - a short stroll into Port Elizabeth and even closer to Dive Bequia. What's more as the owners live on site, and there are a number of apartments together, it offers solo travellers a higher level of security and peace of mind. Dive Bequia is highly thought of and have a great reputation so I'm sure you'll be fine with them. I can't comment on what the diving might be like in May but the weather...More

Anyone else on the island the week of May 20th? (10 Replies)
I know, I know...this is pretty far out in terms of thinking but I'm a planner, what can I say? I just looked at the Friendship Rose calendar and they're doing their annual restoration work while I'm down in Bequia:-( As a solo traveler, I figured that was going to be my best bet to get out to Tobago Cays so I'm looking at some alternatives now. One option I thought of is seeing if Michael is taking a group down to Isle a Quatre that has room for one. But if anyone else out there in TA...More

The key questions is will you be back. One week is not long. The Tobago Cays are a must see at least once in your life. Figure out a way to get there.
Discover Scuba (9 Replies)
I would love to try scuba and so am thinking about doing the Discover Scuba course at either Dive Bequia or Bequia Dive Adventures this July. Both companies get great reviews overall - any preference for one or the other for Discover Scuba? I will be traveling as a 60-ish solo female if that makes a difference. Thanks for any advice!

They both are great, but my preference is Bequia Dive Adventures. Owned and run by wonderful local Bequians, who are master divers, master teachers, and go out of their way to show you the best dive spots.
