- GirlfrombeforeNewton, Massachusetts17 contributionsExtremely pleasant, relaxing, and enjoyable experienceIt's a little pricey ($17 U.S.) but worth it; it's a beautiful, fascinating place with several gardens, stone statues, birds, etc., different from anything I've seen on Nevis or elsewhere. There's a lot of information about the plants and the staff gardeners are helpful and very willing to talk to you about what you are seeing. The restaurant was closed when we were there (low season) but is said to be very good. We were there for 1 - 1.5 hours and my entire family, who is not usually very interested in plants or gardening, really enjoyed it, it was one of our favorite experiences on Nevis. The atmosphere is very pleasant and relaxing, and the grounds are beautiful and designed with care.Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 9, 2023
- Jim3 contributionsA Bridge to perfectionLet me start this review by saying I know a lot about bridges. Ive worked as a structural engineer and have seen the best bridges of the world. However the one at the entrance is so beautifully painted it almost brought me to tears. The blue stripes showing the flow of water; the green stripes showing the flow of nature. It is the perfect entrance to a perfect garden. I would love to meet the man who painted it and shake his hand and say "will you paint all the bridges for all the people" to share his god given talents with the world!Visited February 2024Traveled soloWritten February 4, 2024

We had a very knowledgeable guide with the gardens being in pristine conditions with wonderful plants and trees from around the world. I would without reservation reccomend a visit if you are in St Kitts and Nevis.Dear K1604YFbillg, Thank you for your visit and your kind comments. We do appreciate your time and support. Beautiful walkways, statues of Buddhist and Hindu spiritual figures from around the world, incredible landscaping, and a riot of colors. Cool and breezy oasis in the higher elevations of the island. Welcome respite from the heat of the rest of the island. There is also a beautiful aviary with waterfalls, lush, tropical plants, and parrots !Dear Chiwiz321, Thank you for taking the time to post comments about your experience. - Ljuba M1 contributionA Must See. The best that Nevis has to offer. This was the most spectacular botanical garden I have ever visited. The vision and artistry of this beautiful garden is inspiring and a joy to experience.. There are amazing palm trees from all over the world, beautiful orchids everywhere, fantastic walkways, ponds and fountains, the largest collection of bromeliads, a rainforest conservatory, and so much more. I went by myself, for the first time, and then came back many times to bring friends. They all loved the gardens.Dear Ljuba M, Thank you very much for your wonderful comments, we truly appreciate your taking the time, and for your kind support. We look forward to you and your friends' return to the Gardens in the near future. - Monika P6 contributionsBeatiful Botanical Gardens of NevisA beautiful, tranquil place ! Definitely worth a visit . I have been very lucky to spent 6 weeks on Nevis and was able to volunteer in this magical place. The garden is very well run by a conciences owner, who really gives her all to the gardens. She runs the gardens with a great care for every detail and is passionate about providing the best experience for every customer. All the staff are dedicated and hard working people. If you are visiting Nevis , don't miss the opportunity to visit and see the beauty for yourselves. Also, we had the privilege to get to know the owner and work alongside her staff . I have made friends for life and won't hesitate to come back again and again. Thank you Botanical Gardens for this opportunity and beautiful life experience . Definitely 10/10 from us. - Road417632583241 contributionWonder setting, a marvelous tour. We will visit again.A trip to the botanical garden is an exceptional experience. We spent a month on Nevis. During that time, we visited the gardens five times. It was worth every trip. If you visit Nevis, I highly recommend this unique place. Though we explored the island thoroughly, I would say - without qualification - visiting the gardens was the best part of our vacation.Dear Guest, We thank you so much for taking the time to post your feedback. We are always happy to hear from our visitors - as it helps us to focus on the popular features as well as to recognize areas which may need it. - Esther L1 contributionHidden gem! This Botanical Garden is a hidden gem! Even after visiting for several times, I still found some new beautiful, tranquil and colorful places. The garden is very well kept with a lot of different trees, plants and flowers. I also met the owner and I could feel her dedication and love for the garden in every talk we had. It‘s a big effort to keep a garden that big as beautiful as it is, and the owner and her staff are doing a marvelous job!Dear Guest, Thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words. On small islands such as ours, the limited number of visitors make it difficult to cover operational expenses, and it is far from a profit-making enterprise. Thus, gardening as a public showcase is a passion rather than a profit-making endeavor, and we have often relied on the generous time and expertise of some wonderful volunteers to assist our core staff. We are pleased that you enjoy our efforts enough to repeat your visits, and hope to see you back here again soon. The $13 price tag was higher than I was expecting to be honest, especially with the map an extra $1. The gardens were nice though. It's a shame that so many of the photogenic statues had big white explanations right next to them that also found their way into the photo as they were so close!
The Thai restaurant was also pricey. I got a very small plate of chicken fried rice, and a tiny beer (275 ml!! where did they even find such a tiny bottle?) for US$20 including tax and tip. The food was delicious, but way expensive.
I had a walk around the store beneath the restaurant (which had the horrible American tradition of not including mandatory tax in the prices), and wasn't acknowledged by the lady daydreaming behind the desk, despite looking right at her.

Beautiful place to visit, the majority of the plants are labeled so you know what it is and it doesn’t take long to walk through it. The restaurant is a bit spendy but the food is delicious and the servers are knowledgeable and kind. There are a couple of birds too, if you feel like talking with them.

During my recent visit to the small garden, I anticipated a serene and enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, the visit was overshadowed by issues with staff professionalism and honesty. While quaint and modestly maintained, the garden offers limited attractions that might not sufficiently justify the standard admission fee for some visitors.
Upon our arrival, we were surprised to find that part of the garden was being set up for an event. There were no signs or prior notices about restricted access, which added to our confusion and disappointment. The attendant was absent from her post without information on when she would return, leaving us unattended for about 30 minutes.
When we finally approached the attendant about possibly adjusting the admission fee due to the limited access and the ongoing setup, she dismissed our request. She misrepresented our intentions to the owner, inaccurately claiming we refused to pay.
This unfounded accusation led to an unnecessary and embarrassing situation. Instead of addressing the misunderstanding professionally, the owner accepted the attendant’s misleading account without question and discussed this distorted narrative with other visitors, exacerbating our discomfort.
The staff's lack of professionalism and transparency significantly detracted from our experience, overshadowing what could have been a peaceful visit to the garden. Regrettably, the management did not uphold the expected customer service and clarity standard, especially in a setting that should promote tranquility and customer satisfaction.

My recent visit to Nevis Botanical Gardens was profoundly disappointing and frustrating, falling far below expectations. Marketed as a lush botanical paradise, we encountered a venue overwhelmed by disruptive construction and a startling lack of visible flora or fauna, save for two lone parrots.
The initial part of our visit began with confusion and a lack of basic courtesy; no staff were present at the reception, and there was no notice indicating their return time. This lack of communication was inconvenient and set a poor tone for the rest of the visit.
The financial and time investment for this experience was significant and wholly unjustified. We traveled by boat from St Kitts for $124, paid $64 for entry, and $106 for taxi fares, expecting a serene and enriching botanical experience. Instead, we were met with an environment that scarcely resembled a garden.
Moreover, the interactions with the staff, including the owner, were disheartening. Our feedback about the lack of signage and excessive noise was met with dismissiveness and rudeness. It was not just the underwhelming garden but also the customer service, which was aggressive and unprofessional. The owner's demeanor was particularly insulting, as she disregarded our concerns and escalated the situation needlessly.
I urge potential visitors to reconsider allocating their time and resources to Nevis Botanical Gardens. Based on our experience, your expectations for a peaceful and enriching botanical visit are unlikely to be met. The island of Nevis has much more to offer – your time and money are better spent elsewhere.

Dear Visitors,
This review has been posted by someone with a deeper issue who has spent the past 24 hours creating fake profiles and posting negative reviews of our establishment. He became irate and abusive when he was asked to pay the admission fees after spending 90 minutes touring the premises with his entire family, after bypassing the attendant who was occupied with other guest admissions. Although we gave this visitor a concessionary consideration of paying for only 2 out 5 members of his family, he still threatened to post negative reviews online on all portals.
We hope you take the time to enjoy the various pleasant and substansive reviews by credile guests posted below.
Thank you

We have visited Nevis three times and would rate the Botanical Garden as its most compelling attraction. Indeed, we have visited about fifteen Caribbean islands, always seeking out their botanical gardens, and Nevis is by far the most lovely garden we have visited. The Nevis garden is an oasis of tranquility. Lovely ponds, sculpture and excellent interpretation of what has been gathered there from all over the world. Themed overall with an Asian flavour. When you are there the hurly-burly of the world falls away and a kind of calmness sets in -- the whole experience is spiritually cleansing (this sounds a bit flaky, I know, but that's what it amounts to).
Excellent Thai restaurant offers delicious food and great vistas from its balcony. Good gift shop.
Don't miss this piece of heaven.

This is a must see. This is a true labor of love. A variety of botanicals. The grounds are well maintained. A walk through the gardens is like visual meditation. The owner is very personable, welcoming and kind. The gift store/boutique is beautiful with unique gifts reasonably priced one of my favorite stops.

We took a trip to Nevis from St Kitts, having seen much of what St Kitts has to offer on previous visits.
The island is delightful, and the Botanical Gardens a real treat. We had a fascinating guided tour from the owner followed by refreshing tea in their restaurant.
I could have spent much longer there than we had time for. A perfect way to spend the day if you are lucky enough to get the chance.
Our visit was an arranged tour from a cruise ship. I’m not sure how easy it would be to do independently if limited on time.

We will be in Nevis mid July. Will the restaurant still be closed? If so, does the Bar serve snacks?
Thank you!

Hello,
Thanks to everyone for their answers above.
Although we are normally open year-round, our kitchen was indeed closed for a few weeks this year while the kitchen staff had a much-deserved holiday (May to mid-July) however the bar remained open throughout.
We are now fully open, energized, and ready to welcome our visitors with new tasty dishes and our signature refreshing beverages with Gardens-grown ingredients.
Look forward to seeing you all!

Hello paul
Can you tell me if there is a charge to walk around the gardens? Cant seem to find any entrance fees on the website?
Many thanks
Liz
Written June 29, 2017
Hello everyone,
Like most attractions the world over, there is an entrance fee to the Gardens. The standard fee for adult visitors is $13US which entitles visitors to most areas of the premises, $8 for children $above 6 to 12 years old. There are also various rates for groups, organized in advance. Fees are for unlimited visit duration within the day.
The Botanical Gardens of Nevis is privately owned and is not subsidized in any way by the Government nor any other entities. Admissions fees are necessary to help defray a small fraction of the costs for labor, water and other utilities, as well as taxes and costs levied to operate as any normal business.
Thank you for your understanding and contributions.

is there a 'site' that gives any info. about the "Bunker House" (underground house) in the garden? That part was extremely interesting, but so far unable to find more info. Someone did tell me that the owner tries to celebrate her birthday there, but little else.
Thank you.

Hello,
The Garden House - also affectionately referred to as The Bunker by some - was the home of the original owner of a smaller version of the current Gardens, though not was not open to the public at that time. It has since then be occupied by the second owners of the Gardens, and is the full time residence of the current owner-family when on Nevis. It is a very interesting and fabulous space.to call home.
Thank you for your interest.
