Immaculate conception co-cathdral in Besseterre, st Kitts
This is a Catholic church built in the 1920's. It has 3 naves and a beautiful facade in grey stones. It has an interesting history due to the Catholic presence on the island. The present building was completed in 1928. Nice stained glass windows. It is next to Indipendence square and not too far from the port. Just after the entrance there were some souvenirs on sale on a table for a donation to the church. We got a bracelet and a pouch which were cute.

    Great choice to attend
This was one of the most friendly churches that I have ever attended! They celebrated everyone…Father’s Day….birthdays….anniversaries….guests…high school students…members of the church. They prayed for everyone and gave gifts. It was so welcoming. Two hour service but well worth it!

Visiting the Immaculate Conception Co-Cathedral Catholic Church
Good trip. We arrived at approximately 2 pm and made our way inside the church. We toured the inside of the building and were able to see various sculptures of religious figures, along with several paintings on the wall. We payed our respects and left. Tip: I recommend spending 15 minutes here if you truly want to see everything.

    great architecture
This was the highlight of my trip. I stopped in here just as it opened and it's a lovely and well maintained church. It's accessible and close to the ship port so easy for most people to get to but there are steps to enter so not sure it's wheelchair accessible. It's not glamorous but it is nice to spend some time in.

We always try to visit the local churches while vacationing.

What a wonderful, loving and highly spiritual experience led by the celebrant, joined by a deeply passionate congregation. Talented choir and musicians helped proclaim the Word at the 8:30am Sunday Mass.

Whether you are a participating Catholic, a Christian or non-Christian, everyone will feel welcome at Immaculate Conception.

You could visit the building, but the building doesn't alone make the church. Attend one of the Masses, and you will leave changed for the better!

All the windows were open giving a lovely breeze. As well as the stations of the cross from 1901 there were stained glass windows for the Sacrament of: eucharist, reconciliation, baptism, seven sacraments, confirmation, matrimony, holy order and anointing of the sick. There is a wooden ceiling and marble floor. Behind the altar are more stained glass windows. Unusual fold down leather kneelers. I also liked the two different types of electric fans attached to the cream and green painted pillars.

My husband I attended Easter mass with our teen-aged daughters while on vacation. The choir is amazing, the music is still in our heads a few days later. Father gave an inspiring sermon about simply being kind. At the end of the mass they asked for visitors to stand, there were a few groups. The congregation sang a song of welcome to us and they gave each family a small gift. They also recognized birthdays and anniversaries. So glad we were able to celebrate our faith with a kind and welcoming community.

On the eastern side of the downtown's Independence square stands this beautiful Cathedral. It's a 19c stone built Cathedral with twin towers dominating the area.
Entry is free and inside you'll find a nice altar and beautiful stained glass.
It was one of the most beautiful Churches we saw in the Caribbean region.

The second visit for my wife and I to this ornate church constructed out of grey stone and located on the eastern side of Independence Square. This time we did it as part of a larger tour. Got to say we enjoyed the visit just as much.

Our second visit to this beautiful charismatic Cathedral with a fascinating history. Located just by Independence Square, the building has atmospheric charm and is a definite stop off if in the area. My wife and I popped in when in the location as part of a short stop off from a cruise tour of the Caribbean and enjoyed the opportunity to return to the site.

I went in because the church is next to the Independence Square. It provides a moment of silence and shade for the weary. The interior is rather plain, although the altar section has an unusual, bright yellow background.

We are on vacation in St Kitts and attended mass at this beautiful church downtown. The congregation was so welcoming to visitors. The music was lovely and full of life and priest gave a great homily. The service lasted well over 90 minutes but was most enjoyable.

This is the main Catholic church in Basseterre located in a central square. You can see the spires from the cruise port. Walk straight ahead and to the right. The church has many beautiful statues, a small prayer room, and a parish school with new buildings. Masses are in English. Per the Catholic Directory website, Mass times are Sunday 8:30 AM, Saturday 7:00 PM, Monday 7:00 PM, Tuesday 6:30 AM, Wednesday 6:30 AM an 12:05 PM, Thursday 6:30 AM, and Friday 7:00 PM. The church also has a Facebook page and responds to messages.

While in St Kitts we attended the 8:30 am Sunday Mass. The church is on the Square in Basseterre. As visitors, we were greeted with open arms. A parishioner gave us the guest book to sign upon entering the church. During the sign of peace, many of the church goers came to our pew to shake our hands and at the end of Mass all of the visitors were asked to stand so that they could be welcomed by the entire congregation. If thinking about attending this church while in St. Kitts there are a few things to remember.....as with most churches in the Caribbean, there is no AC and it can get quite warm inside......the Mass was 90 minutes and there is conflicting info on the internet about the time of the Sunday service, it is 8:30 am not pm.
