We could not have picked a better guide to show us the island of St. Kitts. First of all, we were wonderfully impressed by how clean, hilly and scenic St. Kitts was upon our arrival. Then we were so happy to meet Roosevelt at the pier; he was right on time, and ready to meet our group. There was another famiy joining our tour from our cruise ship, the Carnival Victory, who were unfortunately, NOT on time. However, they eventually showed up and we got started with our tour. Roosevelt first showed us all around the downtown area of the island, by comfort of his nice, air-conditioned van. Then we went to the plantation where the Batik factory is located; very scenic and beautiful. We also got to take a tour of the huge fortress on the island and Roosevelt filled us in on the history of the island, and how the island changed ownership between the British and French over hundreds of years. The canons and walls are still beautifully intact at this fortress at the top of the hills which overlook the entire island. What a view! We took dozens and dozens of pictures from this beautiful vantage point. Along our trip down the coast, Roosevelt pointed out many sites of interests, showed us native fruit and nut trees, and gave us wonderful history about the island of St. Kitts. He pullled over briefly to show us a walnut tree, cashew tree, mango trees, and breadfruit trees, while explaining how the island incorporates these fruits and nuts into their culture and economy. Our last stop on our tour, was at the beautiful Frigate Bay for an hour of snorkeling in the calm, translucent water. Since the other family on the tour with us wanted to go to Cockelsheel Beach on the other end of the island, Roosevelt accomodated us both by dropping us off at Frigate Bay Beach for an hour, while then taking the other family to Cockelshell Beach. We LOVED snorkeling with the beautiful fish along the shoreling of Frigate Bay Beach, which was just beautiful. An hour later, right on time, Roosevelt retrieved us and took us back to the Carnival Victory cruise ship at the pier. He self-admittedly has a slight stuttering problem, but we did not hardley notice, and simply loved his tour and his indepth knowledge of this gorgeous island. He truly showed us the very best of St. Kitts, and we look very forward to returning here soon, to spend more time on the island. I definitely recommend this tour; it's the best way to see as much of St. Kitts as possible, in a half-day excursion. Really a wonderful day!
