DO NOT GO TO GEMS & JEWELS
Apr 2020
I am very disappointed with this store. They took advantage of my husband and I, and when I brought this to their attention, they blocked my number. I spent over 10,000 USD. When spending this much money they should show you everything under a microscope and explain everything. They took my existing diamond claiming it had fewer inclusions than the one they were offering us, and still on top of giving them my diamond they also charged me thousands on top for this new diamond (horrible color S-T, clarity VVS-1) ... I later found that the ring I "traded" to them, although it had a smaller in K, had fewer inclusions than the one they traded me. They sold me 10,000 USD jewelry that probably should be no more than 4,000 USD factoring in also the exchange of my ring. They also sold me 3.2 ct H-1 color tennis bracelet for 4,000$. These jewelers' prices are completed diluted. Needless to say, although I should have known better and do now, this place is the reason jewelers are known as scam artists. Once I brought all this to their attention, they promised they would do something.... never did... and then blocked my number. SHAME ON YOU! I did the math and they gave me maybe 4,000 USD worth of jewelry and charged me 9,000USD AND TOOK MY OTHER RING!!!!!!!!! I will delete this review if the jewelers reach out and make this right (like they promised). I do not expect any money back but give me a diamond that's actually worth what I paid and traded my other ring for (that's the reason I traded it in, in the first place!!! I wanted not only bigger but something better in color, clarity, etc). They completed tricked us thinking we were getting a great deal.

FAIRLY TYPICAL
Mar 2020
Fairly typical port shopping mall attached to the cruise ship terminal. It contains everything you would expect (souvenir shops, bars, fashion stores, jewellery outlets, etc). You can easily walk into Basseterre from here because Port Zante lies in the centre of the capital and is the main hub.

First port of call when leaving the cruise ship.
Plenty of trinket shops to that all manner of things.
Then once finished go through to visit the town.

Cruise ship city!
Feb 2020
There are lots of jewelry stores and nick knack stores every where! They cater to the visitors coming off the ships. Avis car rental is within walking distance to this area.

Lovely port... but short walk to bar holding monkeys captive
Feb 2020
We got off our cruise ship and looked around, seemed to be a lovely place. Very busy and lots of shops! Decided to have a wonder around and have a drink at a local, nearby bar. Stopped at bar, ordered beers and sat down. Then noticed two monkeys chained to a bench across the bar...one was only a baby wearing a disposable nappy. Really sad to see such things going on within such a short distance of the ship. I am sure that St Kitts is a really beautiful island but such a shame when owners of small bars have to rely on chaining these lovely wild animals to attract tourists.

Cruise ship hell; go to Nevis where they are friendly
Dec 2019
Stopped here on a cruise ship and was unlucky for there to be 3 other ships in port for a total of around 10,000 passengers. Got off the ship first thing to see about booking the St Kitts railway. We were second in line and another lady came and stood next to me. When the couple ahead of us finished, she stepped in front of me and tried to cut me off. Then she started arguing with me that she was American and deserved to go first. No wonder people hate us! Whatever, I asserted my place in line only to be told that the railway had to be booked from our cruise ship. I didn't see that listed on their website or on tripadvisor reviews. We then walked through the shopping plaza to the St. Kitts tourism authority to be told the same thing. I guess if you come on the ferry from Nevis you are out of luck? Best to call ahead.

We were told to bring our passports (a copy is fine) because they'd be checked by St. Kitts authorities. We lasted 30 minutes before we came back to the ship. There was already a line to get in and I didn't want to get caught in the madness trying to get back in. They were checking passports as we went in.

Must try MARLEY'S BAR AND GRILL
Jan 2020 • Friends
Best seafood restaurant ever. I tried their fresh catch of the day which they received from local fishermen and was told how they use sustainable fishing method, grilled lobster and fresh red snapper was worth climbing upstairs. Its soooo fresh you can literally taste the flavor of ocean in their catch. I like the open ambience with the view of carribean sea and ships.
