St Kitts' beautiful Sandy Point was the setting for a dramatic story which changed the life of a foul mouthed slave trader who then went on to pen one of the most famous and well-loved songs of all time. "Amazing Grace".

Story about songwriter (actually a sailor, captain, and minister) was enlightening. The St. Kitts connection is part of the background although the song wasn't written there (contrary to what some locals told us.). Was much later back in England but was influenced by his time...More

It's in a church, but the presentation is first rate and the small museum is just right. We think it's the best thing on St. Kitts.

We visited the church and museum on a recent trip to St Kitts and were very impressed with the simple sincere presentation. We were made to feel very welcome and it was a fitting tribute to a memorable man and his faith.

This is a friendly small museum, with an accessible video and an interesting detailed written presentation on John Newton, showing the different stages in his life, and the change which came over him. Well worth a visit. And entry is cheap.

A small, well-done display and a wonderfully produced and conceived video about the inspiration and inception of Amazing Grace. For $5 per person, well worth the support of St. Kitts tourism. Just up the road from other major attractions.

Thank you for the suggestion of the local bus which I would certainly have done but before I received your answer I booked with one of the tour operators. Our cruise is on the 18th so I was getting anxious.

You can take a taxi or a local bus. Amazing Grace Experience is in Sandy Point and located right on the Main Road which runs around the island in the Lighthouse Baptist Church.
