Parrot Preserve - A must see is the 180 acre preserve which was established to protect the endemic, endangered Cayman Brac Parrot. There is a two mile nature trail for hiking through the Preserve--a good place to see the beautiful local flora and fauna as well.

It's a very short walk and it's hard to spot. You'll see a boardwalk on the left if you're traveling east on the southern road. It's very easy to miss, but if you do, it's worth it to drive to the end of the line for the great view. If you want to see parrots you need to be quiet... More

We drove past this area while searching for it as it is a small sign at the side of the road, and enough room to park a couple of cars. it is very low key, but an enjoyable stroll along the boardwalk. We saw several birds, some cactus, and interesting rock formations, but not a parrot to be seen. The... More

Nice walk, little bit overgrown, be prepared, take care to follow the National Trust signs, wear good walking shoes. The 1/3 mile to the Bluff edge along the Bight path is also worth it for the view to the sea. We went early morning, but saw no parrots as we learned the next day from a local resident that at... Great for Flora/Fauna people. Take water and wear good shoes. We saw a big Iguana. It's a nice activity for dive off days.

We went to the Parrot Preserve around noon in late April and did indeed see a few parrots...but probably would have seen more in early morning or late afternoon. The boardwalk is easy to walk but we would rate the trails that we hiked as at least intermediate level, so as others have said, wear good hiking shoes or boots.

We saw one pair of parrots. BUT! We went at the wrong time; we went in the late morning. But we had a guy tell us that early in the morning or late in the afternoon is best, because that's when the birds come out.

Great seeing these parrot's in their natural state. Best to go early morning or after 4 to the road to the lighthouse. You can hear them if your car windows are down-and will then know to stop.

We casually strolled on the boardwalk after parking the car a short ways away in the designated parking area. We immediately saw several parrots fly by. After walking about 50 yards farther they (or some others) were perched in a tree fairly close to the path. A Kodak moment! A plus is the red birch trees. If you go and... More

You need to know that this is a nature reserve - not a zoo. If the parrots are willing to let you see them, you are lucky! You can enter the trail in a couple of places - on the west end off of the main road, or 2 places within the reserve off of Major Donald Rd. Bight Road... More

We anticipated seeing many parrots, however, we think we only saw 2. One looked like it flew towards the car as we were driving to the preserve, the other one flew across the road while we were parked. We didn't get a good look at either of them. We came about 6 times to look for parrots, but did not... More
