    WTF is this...
Have you ever dreamed about swimming in crystal clear, aqua water on some tropical island? If so, this is it. I've been to many tropical places around the world and Governors Beach / 7 mile beach is on a whole other level. When I arrived, the sun was out so the water looked fake. I thought "WTF is this...can this be real or am I dreaming". That's how nice the water is. White soft sand on the beach and nothing but soft sand under the water. It's almost unreal. It's an easy beach to get to. It's off the main road which I believe is West Bay Road. A lot of parking. There' shade from the big pine trees but it's not right up against the water so on days when the sun is out, finding shade up against the water is going to be impossible unless you bring an umbrella. But it's all good, we put our stuff up under the trees by the parking lot and everything was safe. 7-mile beach really is heaven on earth. It's crazy how nice it is.

    Small scale but Beautiful
This is an excellent beach spot! However, be aware it doesn’t come equipped with chairs or umbrellas like the much more crowded public beach. Governor’s beach is a modest little area, but the sand and water is picturesque and is a great place to swim and relax away from the crowds.

    Great beach and parking spot!
On 7 Mile beach, this is the ideal parking spot and taking off point for long walks on the Beach! Park here and walk to the right. We used to walk all the way to Public Beach( literally the name of the next beach with parking spots). When you see 8 Gazebos in a row with lots of rental chairs you have reached the Public Beach. We hit this beach at least seven or eight times during our trip.

    Beautiful and pleasant!
We spent the day. Parking is available, porta potties, picnic tables, shade, chickens. The sand is beautiful, the water clear. The waves were very big today! Not too crowded. Spent some time walking along Seven Mile Beach. Did not attempt snorkeling due to rough water. It was a very enjoyable day.

    Beautiful beach with little people
A perfect and marvelous beach! If you’re looking for crowds and noise, go to another place. We came to this beach from going on the Celebrity Beyond cruise ship and, after finding this place, we were astounded by the beauty of the beach. The waters are crystal clear and there isn’t enough people to make the place crowded or noisy. For our family, we don’t mind them not having any facilities. However, if you are looking for a place to rent gear, beach chairs, equipment, or anything of sorts, this isn’t the place to go, since it’s a beach where locals go.

    Beautiful clear water!
This beach was amazing! Long and wide, beautiful white sand beach, crystal clear water. Perfect for swimming or walking along. Forget the "hotel" beaches, go here instead! Free parking, portable toilets which were very clean, picnic tables, and shade. Bring your owns food and drinks, towels.

We have been snorkeling the reef in front of Governor’s Beach for years. There is free parking, a nice beach with some shaded picnic tables, friendly chickens the kids (and adults) enjoy feeding.

The reef is an easy swim and has many colorful fishes and corals. There are schools of blue tang, sargeant majors, and chubs. There are angels, parrots, butterflies, grouper, squirrel fish, and damsels. This year there were 2 large Spanish hogfish in residence. We also saw a spotted moray eel, porcupine fish, and a young turtle.

I do recommend wearing a swim bubble or other gear to make yourself visible. Jet skis come too close to the snorkeling area. We actually were horrified to see a group of a dozen jet skis arrive and circle the reef. This is not only dangerous for snorkelers but the noise, motion, motors, and gasoline are extremely bad for the reef and it’s fishes. After circling several times, the jet skis tied up in a line and the drivers got off to snorkel. There are clear signs that vessels are not allowed in the swim area. They were directly in front of the swim beach, over the reef, and in front of the boat guide buoy.

All this in front of the Governor’s residence.

There needs to be stronger enforcement and regulation of recreational vessels.

Cayman is famous for her beautiful reefs. We need to protect them,

This beach is part of the larger Seven Mile Beach. It wasn’t crowded at all when we visited on a Wednesday at 4:30 pm. There were a few picnic tables by the trees near the parking lot. There were several feral chickens running around. There are no chairs or umbrellas provided at this beach.

Governors Beach was a beautiful day spot for our family during our cruise stop to Grand Cayman. We utilized the public bus to and from the port area, which was an easy walk and overall convenient and affordable means of transportation. The beach was clean, not too crowded and very beautiful. Snorkeling was also very nice at this location.

Free beach area on seven mile beach. Huge parking lot (not well labeled but GPS knew where to take us). Across from a supermarket and restaurants if you get peckish.

The beach is everything you expect from seven mile: white sand, crystal blue water, no current. It is a stunning beach. There was a fair number of people, did not feel overwhelming or crowded. You can walk up and down seven mile and check out other areas as well but we loved governor's beach. It is a little rocky but nothing that you cant overcome.

If you walk a little you can rent jet skis, go parasailing or do a banana boat.

I walked over to Governor's Beach from The Westin because the woman I rented snorkeling equipment from (Red Sail Sports) recommended checking out the reef. I've only been snorkeling twice before (on a fantastic snorkeling trip off a sailboat in Belize and just off the back of my hotel in Jamaica) so I had no clue what to expect. The beach is stunning, with the powdery white sand and crystal clear water that make Seven Mile Beach one of the most beautiful I have seen. I saw some colorful fish swimming out to the reef and when I got there I saw a few other snorkelers and tons of fish, including some really cool looking ones. I noticed right away that some of the bigger fish were coming right up to me, and I felt surrounded pretty quickly, to the point where I was afraid I was going to kick one of them with my fin by accident! This was very unexpected since sea creatures have kept their distance during my other snorkeling experiences, so I recommend going with a buddy and being prepared for this, as it seems to happen all the time based on other reviews.

It was a nice tour. The staff is nice and knowledgable. There is some walking, some stairs and the ground is uneven. My mom is 79 and it was a little hard for her. She wished there was a bench to sit on in couple places. She was glad she went though. The nature walk to get to the caves was interesting and informative. They talked about the future plans for the area such as a zipline and dining area. There was a mix-up with our reservation and I received a voicemail that we had not shown up and they were going to charge my credit card for the reservation. I ended up having to call them from my cellphone to find out that they had figured it out and my cell company charged me $12.00 for the 2 minute call. I wish they would have called back and left a message that it was worked out since they had threatened to charge my card or they could have emailed me that it had been worked out. I would still recommend the tour.

The Governor's beach is a public beach located a few miles away from the harbor before reaching Seven miles beach and right next to the Governor's residence. There are a few parking spots. The water looks and feels wonderful. All the nuances of the blue color can be appreciated. The sand was fine, and it had just been raked. It wasn't crowded when we were there, around 10 in the morning. We had a wonderful time.

Governors Beach is part of 7 mile beach further north and it takes its name from the fact that is next to the Governor's Mansion. The beach is beutiful, clean, and covered with white sand. In April its quite empty during weekdays, particularly from the morning to around 4 pm when locals arrive from work. The water is clean, crystaline and with a beautiful sahe of light blue. One of the most beautiful beaches anywhere in the world.

Beware that if you decide to swim out to the reef off of governors beach you may encounter some Aggressive fish bullies!!! The big Chub fish see you coming and come in a swarm to aggressively posture and make you feel uncomfortable. They will attempt to bite you - we took off for shire before we got bitten. Good luck if you decide to go cus they might be guarding the reef!🤣 the good news is that the water is out of this world gorgeous aqua blue

It is a short swim out to the coral (far edge is marked with a white pin). We saw a green moray, large lobsters spotted eel, many trunkfish. Even saw a flying gurnard on the way out. The downside is there are many chub that are used to being fed and will surround you if you stop moving. Please don’t feed them. It is illegal and makes them more aggressive. Also keep an eye out for boats.
