Based on trip advisor reviews, we booked with Cayman Turtle Divers for a "resort course" intro to SCUBA for my 13, 17, 17 as well as myself. I had done SCUBA once before but my three kids had only tried SNUBA once. We were picked up at our condo and taken to a known dive site. We were the only 4 in the group so had complete personalized experience. Everything went smoothly although we had a little trouble with our mask and equalizing pressure in our ears so spent more time than we would have liked getting that figured out. This was our issue - not theirs - and it happens so you have to be flexible. Our dive guide was super patient and calm and helped us get comfortable enough to leave the shallow waters and go for our dive. We enjoyed the experience so much we decided to book them for a private snorkel a few days later. Although a private boat (for up to 8 people) was a bit more expensive than the larger outfits, the flexibility and personalized service more than made up for that. We went to Stingray city, Starfish point and snorkeled - all in a half day tour. The boat ride was fun and we were able to change the order of events based on how busy Stingray was. The captain was great and got my 3 kids to hold, kiss and feed the stingray!!
Highly recommend!!
Highly recommend!!

I have been coming to the island for many years and after 25 years of snorkelling I felt it was time to get PADI certified and start diving! After some research on the island's BEST operators I decided to go with Cayman Turtle Divers to achieve my certification. My Dive Master, Sammy was absolutely superb! He took extra time with me to answer all of my questions and ensure I was both comfortable and 100% clear on all concepts and skills. I felt both well prepared and totally psyched to kick off my diving career. Once I had successfully completed the certification I booked additional dives with the company and found the entire crew to be wonderfully friendly and helpful. As a solo traveller I did not have a dive buddy with me and Sammy kindly dove with me to ensure I was confident and enjoyed myself. Thank you Cayman Turtle Divers and a big thank you to Sammy!! See you guys next time!

We dove 3 days with the turtle divers and it was great! The dive sites are beautiful and the crew takes care of everything. We also ended up adding an afternoon private boat trip to starfish point and stingray city. Emma and Kevin took us on the afternoon trip....they are awesome and we had a blast! Highly recommend the turtle divers!

We were a group of 7 adults and older teens. It was windy weather and a location change and traffic (so we were told) resulted in an hour late pickup from our hotel. They did offer to take us out on the boat, as a kindness from the delayed start ( I always thought this was part of the dive but it was explained to me that the $100 per dive package we purchased was done offshore) There were 2 instructors for 7 people. I prefer a higher ratio, personally. The on boat instruction was disorganized (it was lamented that they left the flip chart on shore) and the two senior crew did not seem to get along. We received no shallow water instruction (we could not stand) in water instruction was attempted to be given one by one while we attempted to tread water. In past ‘resort dives’ this was always completed near shore or in a calm pool. The combination of quick and disorganized instruction did not breed confidence. Only 2 of our crew of 7 went on the dive and 4 of us had done resort dives before.
When we docked we mentioned our discontent with the owner. He only charged us for the 2 people who dove. That was kind, but honestly the whole 1/2 day was kind of a waste. And for our friends who were so excited, based on our sharing past experiences on resort dives, this was a real turn off on ever trying again. Though kind, I do not recommend.

Six of us from Arizona recently spent five splendid days with the staff and crew from Turtle Divers exploring the underwater world at Grand Cayman. We all wish we could have stayed longer! It was such a pleasure to be met and greeted each day by passionate people who were enthusiastic to make every day we spent with them the “best ever”. They were eager to fulfill our dive site requests and allowed us to linger a little longer, making every minute of bottom time count. They drove us door-to-shore and spoiled us with their gear-up seats at the back of the boat, and always provided great service with a smile. We were truly impressed and are happy to highly recommend Cayman Turtle Divers.

A fantastic and friendly dive company. I made seven dives in three days with came in turtle divers and highly recommend! The guides are very hospitable. Emma is lovely and makes you feel at home the minute she picks you up. Paul and Blair did an excellent job pointing out the sea life that may have otherwise been missed. Blair did an excellent job reviewing safety information to the entire group. The group size was amenable. The equipment appears in good condition and I’ll crewmembers were very helpful in making sure each diver had what they needed. Definitely will use this group again our next trip back! Thank you Cayman Turtle Dover staff for making this trip a special one!

I had an amazing time! My friend and I last minute decided that we wanted to get scuba certified and Sami from Cayman Turtle divers was so kind and amazing. Hadn’t gone diving for quite some time and I had a bit of sea sickness - Sami was so incredibly patient and calmed me when I hadn’t felt comfortable enough to dive in. Eventually, I built up the confidence and passed the scuba certification with flying colors! Thank you so much for an amazing trip and having awesome instructors.

I did a Discover Scuba with Fredrica, she was awesome!!! She was informative and incredibly patient, she asked how I felt and continued to insure I was ok in the water as I was having trouble clearing. I did not feel like I was being rushed or being pushed at all, we moved along as I was comfortable. We have used Turtle Divers on our last two trips and recommend them to everyone. Fredrica was fun to be with while trying scuba (my husband is actually an instructor.)
Friends also used Turtle Divers during th eweek to dive the Kittiwake and had an amazing time and we referred a couple from our hotel for a DSD, they said Sammy was great!

I spontaneously decided to get certified with a friend and Sami was an awesome instructor. He was very patient and kind and really dedicated lots of time to teaching us. He generously invited us to do a turtle release and we had extremely memorable dives. The dive sites throughout our certification process were well planned. We did deal with some choppy waters, but Sami navigated this obstacle like a pro. Would HIGHLY recommend requesting him as an instructor.

I’ve been diving with Turtle divers for over 10 years, so this review is long overdue.
This outfit is full of professionals. They pick you up at your resort - on time - (or at least when us tourists are also on time for the pickup). They have high quality gear if you’re renting and of most importance have Big boats with small groups. If you’re a new or experienced diver, I would HIGHLY recommend Turtle Divers.
This year, I did a handful of dives with them highlighted by a phenomenal night dive. My dive Master Giogia was an absolute rock star at finding everything. We saw, squid, octopus, green morays, spotted morays, HUGE crabs, lobster, rays and everything in between. Giogia expertly knew the reef and we crushed a 55 minute night dive. Lots of fun.
Thanks to JT & Alan for 10+ years of diving.

There are different levels of certification to go diving. Most common is the park open water which requires about 2 days of class time and 2 days of pool time and 4 supervised dives. This will certify you to 60 feet.
Alternatively there is a mini 2 hour lesson that allows you to go 30 feet.
At least with the first one you have to demonstrate you came stay afloat for 10 mins.

I believe they have to be at least 10 yo.

Can you combine diving and snorkeling? We only have one certified scuba diver, the rest would prefer to snorkel.

I am certified for open water but it has been 30 years since I have dived. Do you offer a refresher course or do I need to start all over again?
Written November 14, 2018
Most of these places offer refresher courses, but you should also consider doing a shore dive. The first dive I did with them when I certified was an easy shore dive, and would be a great way to get your feet wet again.

arriving in 7/2/18. So you have a web site for rates and info??

If you Google "Cayman Turtle Divers," their website pops up. (Trip Advisor doesn't allow posting the link)

I will be arriving on a carnival cruise and wondered how close you are to their peer and if you do beginning dives.
Written May 14, 2018
When diving with them in the past, there have been people from cruises on the dives. Most dive shops use the same pier which is on the west end of the island maybe 10 minutes from the cruise ships. I have also seen them do beginning dives but you do need to be certified to dive in Cayman.

we didnt, but we had friends that drove us, so didn't need a hotel pickup.

Hi ClanGill,
Complimentary transportation is provided from the port in Georgetown. Our meeting place is in front of the Dairy Queen; you turn left from the port, walk 3-5 minutes, and the DQ is on your right. Our clearly marked van will be there to pick you up. Depending on your port schedule, pick up for our morning trip is 8am, with return to port around 11:45-noon; and our afternoon trip pick up is 12:30pm, with return to port by 4-4:15pm. That is all local island time. Very important to note the ships time versus our local time.

Does anyone know if Cayman Turtle Divers will certify you and how much this costs per adult? Any suggestions? We have NEVER done this.
Thank you,
Faith

Completed Open Water dives with Cayman Turtle Divers: Highly recommend completing the online and pool sessions at home and finishing the open water dives with Cayman Turtle Divers to save time and to be able to enjoy the beauty of the islands while finishing the open water dives. The company was very responsive and helpful when I contacted them. Four in my family were already scuba certified but I still had to finish my 4 open water dives. I had already completed the online sessions and the pool training (and had my PADI documentation from my home scuba company showing that I completed the online and pool training) before arriving in the Cayman Islands. Cayman Turtle Divers staff was wonderful - Gen was my open water instructor and she was very patient and able to make me relax and demonstrated the skills first in an easy to follow manner. We chartered a Cayman Turtle Divers boat for 2 mornings so my family scuba dived with a guide while I was doing my open water dives in the same locations. Highly recommend Cayman Turtle Divers! As for cost - it depends on whether you need just the Open Water dives or need to complete the online and pre-open water skills also.
