I first went diving with Tom based on the excellent TripAdvisor reviews, and was not disappointed. (I've been back again since.) It's an experience unlike any other I've had diving -- it ain't fancy, and don't expect to be pampered, but it sure as heck is fun. (Get a t-shirt; it says about as much.) It's like diving with your... More

As others have pointed out, behind his hilarious patter about low standards -- His old T shirt was "Come for the Diving, Stay for the Abuse! -- Tom Byrnes is the most considerate, careful, knowledgable, consciencious, and personable dive master in the universe, and has for ten years structured our diverse family dive trips to satisfy two generations of us... Dr. Tom Byrnes delivers a different dive experience than other operations in the Caymans;in addition to his diving experience you will also receive the benefit of his PhD in Marine Biology. Coral and sponge formations become as exciting on each dive as that first shark sighting. He received a 2 thumbs up rating on our first introduction almost twenty years... More

Tom is a star. I was a little nervous when I started diving and Tom was very understanding, considerate and caring. Underneath that brash exterior lies a complete softy! The north wall dives that we have done this week have been awesome, including a chewing eagle ray! Thanks Tom for a great experience.

I have been diving in Grand Cayman for 7 years and always with Cayman Marine Lab. I have 35 years diving experience and can absolutely say that Tom Byrnes is safety conscious, phenomenally knowlegeable, and has to be the most observant divemaster I've ever been in the ocean with! I swear he has eyes all around his head....if a diver... More

First of all, diving in the Cayman Islands is second to none. There are plenty of dive sites all around the island of Grand Cayman – you can dive different sites each day for the entire year! The only question is, who will you trust to make the most of one of the best dive destinations in the world? That’s... More

If you want great diving, small groups, pristine dive sites with no tourist crowds, Cayman Marine Lab is the way to go. Sure, he'll take you to touristy sites if that's what you want, but let him pick the site and you'll be amazed. I would go back in a minute. There's no BS here, just get on the boat... More

I've been diving with Tom several times and have referred several people to him--because he's the most experienced outfit on the islands, he won't charge you an arm & a leg to pay for his boat), and you don't have to worry about your wife running away with him. He's sensitive to the folks who need the most help, but... More

I did my certification dive with Tom 16 years ago and have been diving with him ever since. My family visits Grand Cayman every year and CML is the only boat diving operation we use on the island. Tom is incredibly knowledgeable and I have recommended him to many other divers we meet on our trips who have, without exception,... More

I would highly recommend Tom Byrnes and Cayman Marine Lab for your diving experience. Our family of 6 had the most incredible diving experience with Tom and his crew. Ten plus dives and each day very unique with amazing dive sites where the underwater world came to life for our family. I was skeptical and very anxious about diving for... More
