Ash and his team are top notch! Very good communication and seamless diving experience. We stayed at the Westin and they picked us up on the beach and on time! Really provided a fantastic first class dive experience with a very personalized touch you don’t get with some other dive boats. If you are diving in Cayman, Seasports Diving with Ash is a MUST!

After getting certified by one of the big Cayman dive operations in '90, I stuck with them and a few big competitors on annual visits until '93, when someone clued me to Seasports, the better way. Instead of a dozen or sometimes more on a big boat you have to drive to, get there early, paperwork and waiting and then a "lowest common denominator" short dive with people barging around and too often banging off the coral, Capt. Butch from B.C., the then owner, had a small boat that would pick you up at your place on the beach, deal with the paperwork on the way to your first dive and drop you back there after a couple of great dives, never with more than a few others and not infrequently just me (and my partner if I had one). That continued through '09 and another owner. After 13 years, my daughter and I, on short notice, arranged four dives with new Captain Ash and nothing had changed, except the boat is a little bigger and "paperwork" is even more efficient through electronics - five minutes en route to our first dive, the spectacular USS Kittiwake wreck, "new" since '09. You save so much time and aggravation and get much longer, better dives. Captain Ash and his crews of Cameron, Joe and Wesley were exemplary - informative, helpful and funny.

My boyfriend and I originally had only scheduled 1 dive with this company, but because of our fantastic experience we ended up diving with them for 3 days! The captain was very knowledgeable about the area and local schools hire him to teach their students. We stayed at the Westin and were picked up/dropped off on the beach outside of our hotel. Our dive trips were personalized to what we wanted to see on the island. Plus, we got free snacks and beer (after diving of course)! As newly certified divers, we felt very safe with our captain and will DEFINITELY be using Seasports Diving next time we visit Grand Cayman.

Did my open water certification with seasport diving. It was amazing. Austin and Ash arranged everything. First morning we did our 5 confined water dives and in the afternoon we already went 60ft deep to the kittiwake ship wreck. So cool! The next morning we had 2 more beautiful dives. Snacks on the boat after. Hot tomato soup. Celebratory drinks! Loved it all!

As a third attempt to tell my story. To all who may want to hire this company to do business with . The present ownership has been in control for only the last three years not as they would lead you to believe from there web site' s claim of 1974. I have used this company since the 1990's and have been going to Grand Cayman since the 1970's. I have been diving to all points of the world and have over 5000+ scuba dives as a result. I have also have great experience on open ocean yachts in the Pacific and Atlantic so I have a great deal of experience as a waterman. The former owner's were from Canada and good friends over the years. The new owners are from New York and I met them the week they took over having their daughter Carina run the dive boat along with Tony a dive master of the year as recognized by a local organization in 2016. They have both since left Seasports diving. The change in the customer experience of which I have FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE has been dramatic and I have a FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE to share. During our annual visit to the island , a short trip for us as we live in Florida we made reservations four months in advance to dive as we always do each morning of our week long stay. The first day we experienced a noticeable change as to the experience of the diving staff. The group was a bit older and the dive master had dropped down to 110 feet where in I had the entire group following me. My wife upon return to the boat commented "it looks like you are going to be the dive guide this week. Which it turns out became a reality. After another day of this I was missing Tony. On the third day the Owner Regina Ecclefield calls us to let us know she was moving us to the afternoon dive without permission. I have never done an afternoon dive on this island ever. When we objected she told us she had given our reservation to a new client and would not change us back. We were also told that we were going to have to pay the $210. for the dive trip we never reserved. We promptly CANCELLED the rest of the week and when I returned home noticed that Regina had charged my credit card anyway. These people are just plain dishonest and you would be ill advised to use this company given there are so many options on the island. I will NEVER use this company again. I should have picked up on the staff turnover. Do NOT give Regina your credit card I have had to cancel mine fearing she will pull another stunt. In closing heed my warning Buyer BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE OR YOU WILL PAY $$$$$ THE PRICE!!!!!

Your other Reviews were taken down because they did not follow TA Guidelines and were not an honest depiction of what happened. We have all the emails including the confirmation that was sent to VB was prior to your arriving on the island. It clearly stated you had two afternoons because you wanted to do an Advanced Course and teaching has always been done in the afternoon. VB called me to say that her husband would not dive in the afternoon the day before the course started when the DMs in the boat were confirming where to meet for the course. When she called I told her to check the email (she had also been told on the phone that the course would be done over two afternoons). She told me that she doesn’t read emails! I called the guests who were not “new”and traveling in their regular slot which you were not to see if we could change them. I could for one day and arranged for an instructor for one morning but could not change one afternoon. That is when I called contrary to your assertion that I called to inform you of changing you to an afternoon which can be easily proved with my phone log. It did not suit you and instead of charging you for two days outside the cancellation policy we only changed for one. This was all discussed on the phone. You came back to dive with us after your first experience so we must have met your expectations. This problem with occurred because VB did not listen to or read what she was told. I called the week before you came as a courtesy as you had not confirmed by giving the cc info to hold your space. This is exactly the email that goes to everyone and was written by the previous owner. You choose to come back and dive with us and we appreciate that but have to give the same service to other guests including those who were confirmed on the boat that week as welll. I am sorry you were not happy but all my correspondence was with your wife not you and what you have written is not an accurate summary of what transpired. I will be happy to send you the email thread and a pic of my phone log if you like so you can understand what happened and why your previous Reviews have been pulled. Best wishes for happy diving going forward and perhaps you not VB should make the arrangements as most ops use emails and reading them helps everyone know what is going on and if it is to their satisfaction.

Don't be fooled by the talk of a small boat and customized dive plans. Seasports will cater to the lowest common denominator on your boat (Jim, the owner, even admitted this to us after the fact). We had one day of diving and It turned out that of the 5 other divers on the boat, one forgot to bring their dive card, one was doing a resort dive and was not certified, one had little to no experience, and one had ear problems. So rather than customize plans as they say they do, to start the day, we all did the same 40ft dive on a patch reef in bad shape that was no better than what you would see snorkeling from shore. I realize they had never seen my wife and I dive before, but some simple communication could have helped avoid the entire unfortunate situation. On top of that, they nearly forgot to give us a dive briefing and made most of the group wait at the bottom of the anchor line for nearly 8 minutes because one person had problems with their mask.
Cayman is known for its great diving. I'm not the most experienced diver, but I have more specialized training than most because I do this as part of my job. Had Seasports bothered to discuss this with us in advance, we might have actually enjoyed our day. Over the last 20 years, I have been diving all over the world and this was by far one of my least favorite experiences. Find a company that will actually let you experience the best Cayman has to offer because Seasports likely won't.

While we do try to strive give everyone a great experience, sometimes we just have a bad day.
On the day in question, we had a group of divers who were all going to the same wedding so I assumed they all knew each other would enjoy diving with each other (wrong). The reviewer and his wife were only diving one day and their friends (with the ear problems) had dived two days earlier. She did have some ear issues so I thought it was best we stay shallow on the two dives so they could all enjoy the dives. As well the other divers were either beginners or had not dived in a few years.
We split the groups into two - the beginners with one instructor and the reviewer, his wife and two friends with me. We briefed that on the boat but I guess he was not listening due to his experience level.
We all headed down but one of the beginners group had some mask issues and one of the three was already at the bottom with my group. I asked my group to wait while I got my instructors attention to tell him I would take the five.
The reviewer feeling he could not wait, decided to head off and everyone followed. I finally signaled my instructor and headed off to find the group. I would not have lead the dive the way they went but it was too late to turn everyone around so we finished the dive. The reviewer failed to mention that they thought the second dive was fantastic.
I made the mistake of assuming that friend like to dive with friends and if they were only diving one day, would not have a problem accommodating their friends. I also assumed the group knew each other since they were all down for the same wedding and would like to dive together otherwise I would have split the group to the afternoon dive. Again my mistake.
I only charged the reviewer for a single tank dive and offered to take him and his wife for free dives the next day or when they returned to Grand Cayman but did not hear back till they left the island (with no plans to ever return as they did not like Grand Cayman). I also offered to discount the reviewers friends figuring they had a bad experience. The told me they totally enjoyed their dives and no discount was necessary.
We try our best but sometimes we fail and unfortunately it was that day.

We have been diving in the Caymans since 1996. We were a little hesitant to book our dives since Seasports had changed owners. Tony and Carina were amazing. We got first class service in a laid back atmosphere. We did six dives over a four day period and Tony and Carina did an outstanding job. They were really good with kids as well as adults. We would strongly recommend Seasports Diving.

New owners Carina and Tony continue the tradition of excellent service that is the Seasports hallmark. Personalized service, relaxed fun on the boat and they do not try to "over control" experienced divers. Convenient beach pick up at your hotel or condo and small groups size add to the experience.

We are relatively new divers (all freshwater) until our dives with Jim. He helped us fine tune our weights and buoyancy and gave us some great tips to get us started with our new camera gear. This is the dive operation to use if you want personal attention and to see and learn about the phenomenal undersea life of Grand Cayman.

I enjoyed my first dives of the new winter season with Carina and Tony last week. The service remains superb and the level of supervision relaxed for experienced divers. Most notable and welcome are several improvements made to the boat over the summer which keep the equipment in excellent shape and add space and comfort for the divers.

I will be returning to Grand Cayman for my annual month-of-February trip, staying with my cousin Aileen Mcdonald on 7 Mile Beach.
Last year, I was introduced to diving for my 64th birthday, on a resort dive. I now am considering doing an online PADI certification but would prefer to do my open water part in Grand Cayman. Would pool work also be necessary or can it all be completed in ocean?
My husband was a diver many years ago and may benefit from a refresher course.
What would be the cost of each of those options, beyond the PADI online costs, without condo expenses?

Thanks for your interest in diving with Seasports. We would recommend that in winter (February) you get the pool work out of the way before you come down. It is often better for students anyway as it puts less pressure on them while on vacation. The cost is $420 for the OW only and $560 if we are doing the pool work.
Your husband will need to do the refresher if he hasn't been diving in the last 2 years. The cost for that is a standard $25.
Rates are as follows:
2 tank dive - one day only - $120
2 tank dive - two or more days - $100
Equipment Rental - $40 (BC, reg and computer. Mask, fins and wetsuit free with full rental)
Kittiwake Dive - $20 extra (includes medallion)
Dive computer - $15/day
Nitrox tank - $15/tank (certification required)
Single tank dives - $75 (afternoons only)
Night Dives - $80 (includes light rental)
All prices are in US dollars.
We don't offer packages - just exceptional diving, small groups, later departures, beach pick-up (when diving west), equipment valet and flexible scheduling. We will put it in the reservation book for the days you want. If you want to switch around days, someone wants to take a day off or you want to add days, we can be flexible as long as you let us know 48 hrs before. Please see our cancellation policy below.
If this is acceptable, please send the following information to make a reservation:
• Visa/MC number with exp. date (sent in two separate emails for security) or call 775-434-8464 for a secure voicemail
• Name and billing address of cardholder
• Name, certification card numbers, number of dives and date of last dive for each diver
• Height/Weight/Shoe size for equipment rental
• Day(s) you would like to dive
We look forward to diving with you,

Aloha,
Do you provide transportation from the cruise ships? I will be there May 14, and would love to set up a 2 tank dive if you have transportation

At Seasports, we absolutely can provide transportation for our guests. Unfortunately we are already fully committed via email.
Thank you for the inquiry and we hope to dive with you in the future.
