I loved seeing the exhibits of the local teachers & students' work! The permanent exhibition has some really good submissions, though I was surprised not to see more woven items, given the nature of the island.

I love the displays at the National Gallery and in particular some of the pieces that they have of local artwork. Such a great mix of traditional, modern and contemporary - there were even pieces that brought a huge grin when I saw them. There...More

The shows, by local artists, was surprisingly delightful. The venue is rather small but anyway is a free place you can enjoy.

This is an incredible art museum for such a small island country. It provides a unique history of the ongoing development of a unique cayman art scene as it is impacted by other cultures and countries. Gorgeous building and lush outdoor sculpture garden. And an...More

Always an interesting evening. Some outdoor exhibits make the grounds interesting for children as well as adults. The exhibits are always changing and have an island base.

This is a small but fantastic art museum covering both local and "traveling" exhibits. The quality of this gem just blew us away.

Took a rainy day to visit this gem, and well worth the time. The Gallery features changing exhibits that relate to the island in a variety of media. But the permanent exhibit, though not expansive, showcases many aspects of the culture and history of the...More

You can take a bus but you'll have to walk. A taxi will be better and quicker.

What I love about the Cayman Islands (14 Replies)
Given that different visitors enjoy many different things about the Cayman Islands. I figured I'd start a topic for people to share what they love. While I could make a long list of things I love about the Cayman Islands, one of the things I love most is its rich cultural heritage. Perhaps not everyone has an auntie to teach them to "lay" rope; however, The Cayman Islands National Museum and the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands are wonderful places to learn about the culture, art and...More

What a great idea smushie! I read what you wrote and thought about my favorite thing and coming back to what set GC apart. It was not the diving although I certified there over 20 years ago. I love diving there and will not say it compares with the north GBR or The Galapagos but is much more user friendly and I still see new things all the time. We love great food and find GC second to none in variety but that is not the big draw either. We now have many dear friends and family on the island...More
