My 3 children (ages 9, 11, 13) are stamp collectors, so this store was heaven for them! No only do they have an amazing assortment of stamps from around the world, but so many historical & interesting stamps as well. Even if you're not really into stamps, it's still like an art or history museum, you can find any subject... More

This was my third year that I stopped at the The Penny Black. What a wonderful find. I walk in and don't know where to look first. I just tell them what I collect, and they start to point to cabinets and pulling out books of stamps. Ivan has never been in the store during my visits but his staff... More

Take a look, amazing everything they have, much more than we ever thought!! Seriously a gem! We weren't sure what we'd find, but so many stamps, and my husband ended buying silver coins. But the amount of stamps and unique selection is unbelievable! I highly recommend this unique shop in Georgetown.

Being on the American Philatelic Society 2015 Stamp Cruise, we were graciously hosted in George Town by The Penny Black. If you are a collector, or want to start a collection, stop and see Ivan. He has a good selection to browse and excellent knowledge to get started!

I happened upon this shop almost by accident while on a family cruise vacation with my family. It is conveniently located just a block away from where the cruise ships drop anchor, but tucked away from the typical tourist fanfare. The owner (Ivan the Terrible, as he is referred to by his employees), was extremely helpful with helping me locate... More

Last week (February 25, 2015) I visited the Penny Black based on TripAdvisor comments. Had a delightful chat with the owner (Ivan Burges) about stamps, postal covers, etc. Then we started to chat about the island and how much it had changed since I was there 35 years ago. Ivan showed me the book he had written - centered around... More

The Penny Black Stamp Shop is an unexpected oasis amid all of the tourist spots on Grand Cayman. Elaine was very helpful and patient while I sorted through new and used Cayman Island stamps. The selection was impressive and the prices were very reasonable. The Penny Black will definitely be a first stop during any future trip to the Caymans.

I had a nice time browsing through this collection and chatting with the nice gentleman at the store this afternoon (Jan. 1, 2015). It was nice to get away from the maddening cruise crowd (nothing wrong with cruisers, it's just that when 6 of them dock at a tiny island at the same time, it gets claustrophobic) and tacky souvenir... The Penny Black Grand Cayman stamp store is one of the best I have visited. They have a wide variety of mint stamps to choose from. Elaine takes care of the customers and is sensitive to their collecting interests. Can't say enough good things about the Penny Black. Great store. Looking forward to returning.

Whether you are a stamp collector or not, you should definitely take a few minutes out of your day to stop by The Penny Black for a look around. Elaine and Ivan are wonderful, and more than willing to answer any questions you may have. My husband and I found this charming shop on our trip to Grand Cayman last... More
