My 18 year old daughter and I took this sailing trip on Friday 1/11/19. The captain and mate were very knowledgable about the stingrays and clearly treat them with care. The catamaran was fun to sail on and we always felt safe. This tour only...More

Chris and Chip were awesome. So knowledgeable, nice, informative and super fun. You can tell that they know the sting rays themselves and cultivate a safe and enjoyable environment for the sting rays themselves which keeps them coming back!! Would 100% recommend and would definitely...More

Chip and Chris were great! The catamaran is nice and it’s not packed with people. You can tell that Chip and Chris both care about the stingrays and don’t hold them against their will like I saw a lot of other tour guides doing. We...More

This excursion was certainly one of the highlights of our trip. The experience we had with Chip simply cannot be compared to the 'mass market' stingray excursions that are out there. After a beautiful ride out to the sandbar, we got into the water and....WOW....More

Relax and enjoy the ride over to stingray city, while leaning from the crew about the Cayman rays. Got to touch plenty of rays and they all seemed to know Capt. Chip! There is free bottle water, oranges, and apples (honey crisp). Sodas were $2each....More

Captain Chip and Chris made this a life event. The stingray city experience is amazing in its own right (a must do), but Chip somehow made sure our small group had a private experience with the stingrays before the masses showed up. They had names...More

Captain Chip and his Dad were the best! Highly recommend Stingray Snorkeling shore excursion! Personalized service, great natural interaction with the stingrays, learned a lot, and had beautiful reef to snorkel..The stingray experience though was a blast and an unforgetable memory!

Grand Cayman - General Travel Tips and Insight (9 Replies)
I just returned from a week in the Grand Cayman Islands (CI). This was my first trip to CI and I was quite disappointed in some aspects of CI and extremely impressed with others. Here is my overall impression and tips to help you take advantage of the good and watch out for the bad. I hope that what I write might help you decide whether or not to go to CI. CUSTOMER SERVICE I was hoping to find a warm and friendly atmosphere full of people with a “jolly-mon” kind of attitude. Wow was I...More

Wow. I am really sorry you found the people unfriendly and the prices outrageous. I think perhaps you should have done some homework before you went. GC is has the 12 highest GPD per capita in the world and has one of the safest, strongest infrastructures in the Carib. The people have healthcare, the roads work, on and on. This comes at a price. Imagine what "prices" are like for the people who live there. As far as friendliness, I have travelled extensively throughout the Carib, and chose to...More

Help choosing stingray/snorkelling trip (14 Replies)
In GC for one day on cruise and have decided we must do a stingrays at sandbar and snorkelling trip but can't decide who with. Moby Dick, Dexter's fantasea tours and Stingray Sailing all offer similar trips. Any advice on whether there is any difference between them please?

I don't know about the other tours but I just took Dexter's stingray/snorkle trip today and loved it! I will be doing a more in-depth review and post pictures when I get home but my husband Heath and I had a great time. He personally picked us up at our hotel. He and his first mate Simon were terrific story tellers and you can tell they really love and respect the rays. There were less than 20 people on board and they made sure each and everyone of us had time with the rays and had plenty of...More

Red Sail vs. others for sailing (2 Replies)
I'm staying in Seven Mile Beach and was interested in taking a sailing trip (sunset sail or stingray city or maybe a snorkel stop) for a few hours, but not one of the meal inclusive ones. Red Sail seems convenient and well rated, but is it really superior? Or is it just overpriced? One of the tours I was looking at was close to $90 whereas other operators had something similar for closer to $50 (and still included hotel pickups). Also looking into Stingray Sailing, Acquarius, and Captain...More

The Red Sail catamarans are in a class of there own. The vessels are beautiful and the trips particularly because of there size are "smooth sailing". Aside from private charters they probably are the nicest boats in the water. Therefore they cost more and therefore you pay more. Would not call that overpricing.
