It was nice to sight-see while transferring from St. Thomas to Tortola. I would recommend. Just wear sunscreen as it is too windy to keep your hat on!

The boats are a disgrace. They are dirty, seats are ripped, the ceiling has holes were the insulation shows. The engines are noisy and the boats smell of diesel fumes. For tourist arriving for the first time the first impression of this ferry service must be enough to turn anybody off. Shame on you.

We used Smith's ferry from St Thomas to Road Town, then round trip to Anegada, then again back to St Thomas. The boats were clean and the crew was helpful. We were comfortable and it did not smell like diesel fuel.

If travelling back to St Thomas to catch a flt from STT, leave plenty of time-took us 3 hours from arriving at airport to getting to gate! Security and check in was a zoo..

On the way to Tortola we took a different ferry from St Thomas, it was pretty bad. Did not stick to stated schedule or rates. Returning from Tortola we used Smiths Ferry outa the West End. 1st ferry to depart on Saturday morning. The crew was no nosense lets load up and get off the dock asap. Scheduled to leave... More

Having lived in the BVI for a few years off an on and now just visitor for a trip or two a year, I've seen these guys operate for the better part of the last decade. The only reason why I don't have issues traveling on the ferry is because I never take them towards the end of the day... More

Fine to use but be careful of buying a return ticket. I did and they cancelled my ferry to combine it with the next one. Not as devastating for me as it was for the people missing flights because Smith decided that there were not enough people to make the earlier trip worthwhile. I thought I was using Road Town... Nice comfortable ride to and from West End, BVI. Scenic islands on all sides. Best times and rates. Two story seating to enjoy sun, shade or rain.

We go sailing almost every year for numerous years. We used to go thru Puerto Rico and take cape air to Road Town. After having a few issues with missed flights, we started going thru St. Thomas and taking the ferry to Road Town. SO MUCH EASIER. This is the way to travel if you are headed to the BVI's
