Our group of 7 (young to old) spent the day with Captain Harry and Dan touring the areas around Tortolla including snorkeling at the caves, a beach break, lunch at Cooper Island (great food) and my personal favorite, the Virgin Gorda Baths. The weather gave us challenges, but Captain Harry made it all still happen, even as we laughed thru a couple short downpours and weathered some pretty big waves.

Personal trips like this are so awesome as you get the benefit of a captain that has local knowledge and the smarts to make for the most enjoyable experience, and with flexibility to adjust the trip (such as avoiding areas where big boats/groups are by changing sequence of stops).

I would highly recommend Patouche as a very credible company. Our original booking had to be canceled (based on a family that could not do the cruise) and rebooked for a smaller group. Email communications with Jamal were easy and timely, and I received a refund on the canceled booking right away.

I love Tortola …. and if you have the chance to get there … GO! And take a serious look into any trip with Patouche to see more of what the area has to offer … the outer islands are beautiful.

I am reluctant to share this but here goes...
If you are interested in visiting The Baths in Virgin Gorda (which you should) this is definitely the way to go. Because they schedule the visit after lunch (critical when a cruise ship is in Tortola) it was virtually empty (probably 20 people max) and simply incredible. You do have to swim a bit to and from the boat (probably 50 meters...but there is a rope to hang onto if you are not a strong swimmer) but the water was calm, clear and beautiful during our visit. we spent two hours exploring the caves, grottoes, pools, etc. and snorkeling.
Our lunch spot on Cooper Island was great. The small island has a beautiful beach and a great, laid back restaurant (they even brew their own beer!).
But I must stress that this is not for anyone with very small children (because of the swim) nor for folks with any mobility issues. But if you are adventurous and want NOT to visit The Baths with thousands of your new best friends, this is the trip to take.

Thanks Cathy you are absolutely correct about the swim into the Baths which is why I let our potential guests know ahead of time before they book. Our #1 concern is always comfort and safety, I am glad you had a great time with us and look fwd to your next visit.

We booked this excursion instead of taking the one from our cruise ship and we are glad we did! The timing was great, as we visited the Baths after the cruise group left and it was nice and empty. We were able to explore and take our time on the trail. We ate at exquisite Cooper Island for lunch, it was relaxing and serene. Our first stop was a snorkeling experience at The Caves, it was lovely and not at all crowded! There was a long swim from the boat to get to the Baths, but we took our time and there was a rope you could rest on or pull yourself along with if you got tired. All in all, it was a wonderful day with my family, we were back to the ship in plenty of time. We recommend this excursion to anyone who doesn't want to deal with the "cattle car" and expensive trips offered by the cruise lines.

We spent a week with Joe and Mike on 'Primetime', It was an amazing experience. There was ample toys on board for water sports ( wake-boarding, several stand-up paddle boards, sea-kayaks, etc), we also saw the great spots of the BVI: Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke, etc. The setting was beautiful but Joe and Mike were able to make our experience extra special by quickly adapting the itinerary to our wants and preferences.

Primetime is in excellent condition as well as its tender. The rooms are really nice and there is a very good amount of outdoor space to enjoy the sun. Joe is a wonderful cook, the majority of our charter ended up making his biscuit and gravy recipe after we were back.

Overall, it was an incredible and and unforgettable experience. If you are looking to charter a yacht in the BVI, you cannot go wrong with Captain Joe, Mike and Primetime.

Summary
Prime Time is a luxurious boat for cruising the British Virgin Islands. The crew is helpful and friendly, and the catering provided is hearty and wholesome. It is ideal for those looking for a low-key charter boat experience and we thoroughly recommend it.

The Boat
Prime Time is extremely comfortable to cruise on. There are three double guest cabins, each with en suite bathrooms, allowing a party of up to six to enjoy a vacation together. There are many public space options for gathering, eating and drinking, although if you are like us, you will spend the majority of your time on the fly bridge. I should mention that there are three levels of the boat: cabins, salon and fly bridge. If stairs are difficult for you, that could be a problem.

The Crew
Captain Joe will do his best to tailor your experience to your tastes and desires. Just let him know your preferences, whether they be swimming, snorkeling, diving or just hanging out, and he will try his best to accommodate you. He and first mate Mike are friendly and attentive and will make sure your drink is never empty and your favorite music is playing.

Catering
Captain Joe cooks breakfast every day and approximately half of the lunches and dinners. He cooks hearty, tasty food which goes down very well after a hard day on the water. When he does not cook, the captain arranges for you to enjoy a selection of waterfront restaurants which can range from white tablecloth to down and dirty depending on your taste. On the drinks side, you will have made your preferences clear in advance and Joe will have plenty of your favorites on board as well as a never-ending supply of painkillers and rum punch.

Another fantastic trip! Captain Joe and Mike are so friendly, full of knowledge, and a great time! We wouldn’t travel on another boat in the BVI. Great food and drinks, and lots of laughs! Capt. Joe took us to all the spots on our list and a few more.

If you have ever wanted to charter a boat to see the Islands, Patouche Charters and Prime Time is the only way to do it! Already looking to book again for next year.

Capt Harry and Dan kept us entertained all day. It was a windy day with rough seas but they were able get to several nice spots to snorkel at the Caves on Norman island and then a great lunch on Cooper Island. They informed us of the islands history and other interesting information along our travels. My daughter became ill during the outing and Capt Harry did everything in his powers to keep her comfortable. Was a Great Day!

We had one of our most memorable days of our vacation on our charter excursion. Joe and Mike where incredible hosts. The boat was spectacular, it was the best way to experience the BVI and able to see all the islands and sites. We are now considering a longer charter as we felt like one day was not enough. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a day, weekend or week long charter service. It was a highlight of our vacation.

We were a party of 11 with 5 kid and 6 adults. We had an amazing experience with Captain Harry. Everything was perfect and smooth!! I couldn’t ask for a better experience. We stopped at the caves and snorkeled. Everyone saw amazing fish Captain Harry came in and guided us around. After we stopped for lunch at a local place right off the water. Had the best jerk chicken and pork. We than had a personal tour of the baths. We were picked up exactly where we were told and dropped off on time. He had a cooler stocked of drinks for both the kids and adults!! I can’t wait to come back and highly recommend to anyone!!!!! Thank you Captain Harry!

Luxury yachting has always been on our bucket list of things to do and fortunately for us we found Captain Joe and Prime Time to experience this once in a life time dream in the beautiful British Virgin Islands. The trip was made even more enjoyable by Captain Joe and Mike's laid-back demeanor, excellent cooking skills and unique knowledge on all things BVI. The first class accommodations were exactly as advertised. We would recommend Patouche Charters again and again! Hope to see Captain Joe and Mike again!
