Horizon Yacht Charters is owner-operated and has proudly delivered amazing experiences to sailors in the BVI, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and abroad since 1998. We offer Learn to sail (ASA), Bareboat, Skippered, and Luxury all-inclusive crewed vacations aboard new and exceptionally well maintained monohulls and catamarans. I like the Bavaria and your people a lot; and Henry went out of his way to save the boat and our trip on New Year's day when the head overboard seacock failed and then pulled out allowing seawater in. He kept a cool head and all was resolved with an appropriate bung.
That said, two issues arose that are worth mentioning. The first is minor. We had to press to get the appropriate paperwork to enter the USVI. The second really limited our trip. The plate that is supposed to keep the ice box cold didn't do the job from the start. We lost hundreds of dollars in spoiled protein and a lot of good meals We did everything recommended to get it working right and still had the expense and inconvenience of having to find two 15 pound bags of ice almost every day. it's a good boat but needs an updated cooling system. The plate and fan just don't do the job.
Other than that and the Boaty Ball eruption we had a good trip.

The greatest holiday of our lives.
Most of our family of 6 had been sailing before in the BVI but some were really too young to remember.
Everything was perfect from Horizon Yacht Charters, from the info during reservation and the build up to the trip, to the whole support and sailing experiences.
The boat "Air Guitar" was appointed really well and sailed beautiful, albeit in lighter breezes than we had hoped.
On leaving the boat the support and help offered was first class and we would like to thank Tubes, John, Sandra and Courtney in particular for being there for us every step of the way.
I always recommend Horizon Yacht Charters to those I meet when sailing, as I am confident that the boats and the team there will ensure the best ever holidays for those others.

All in all we had a very good experience. The boat we chartered, Easy Skanking, was a new boat and was in excellent condition. Our instructor, Dom Hutchinson, was just wonderful! He made sure that we got lots of hands-on experience and instilled confidence in us. He himself is a truly accomplished sailor but also a very skilled, patient and kind instructor. He was also a joy to have on board. Thank you, Dom!
Horizon came through with the right boat and right instructor. The only problem we had with them is that they charged us a different price than what was first quoted by the broker. They did eventually compromise on this issue and that was appreciated.

Be SURE to check out Horizon Yacht Charters for your next (or first!) BVI sailing vacation! We sailed with our children and grandchildren from December 23 - January 2, then continued on with friends until January 15. The entire 26 -day cruise was simply terrific!
We are very seasoned bareboaters, having sailed the BVI, Saint Vincent & Grenadines, and the Abacos for over 32 years... and the Horizon charter is at the top of the list. We found Horizon for the first time this year, after using most of their competitor companies for years. And we're glad we did. The staff (especially Henry, Jalon, Sandra, Kara and more) are very knowledgeable and helpful. We appreciated their attentiveness and help with all our needs during the charter and before-hand.
The 45-ft Fontaine Pajot (DETOUR) is a fine boat with a great seating arrangement topside. The vessel has all the bells and whistles you need for a wonderful onboard experience, and the Nanny Cay base is a great place to sail from to stay for an extra day or two both pre- and post-sail.

This is the fifth time I have done a bareboat charter with Horizon, four times here in the BVI and once in St. Vincent. The staff was great getting it all set up, the boat was in great shape (I'd actually chartered this same boat 3 years ago, and she'd been maintained extremely well) their online briefing and charting materials meant that we were on the boat and out of the marina in an hour. Similarly, when we were done, we were checked out and off the boat very quickly.

A really good charter company with good service overall but room for improvement in certain areas. We had a one way charter from St Vincent to Grenada in a Lagoon 450. One evening our dinghy got punctured against a jetty in a heavy swell which built up when we were dining ashore (yes we had a stern anchor out!) . The dinghy & engine got submerged but Dale was quick to sort out a replacement which we were grateful for. So far so good but we felt we were treated like naive fools when Horizon initially demanded that the dinghy should be replaced for a new one resulting in loss of $2000 security deposit. It felt like Horizon and the boat owner were being opportunistic. The dinghy was clearly repairable and indeed had been patched up previously . I needed to be firm and assertive which was stress I could have done without before Horizon eventually came to an equitable compromise arrangement a few days later. The other area for improvement was the chart briefing which did not cover the procedure for refuelling and docking in Port Louis, Grenada. We were told “ring the base and they’ll take you in”. It turned out you have to refuel yourself then call ch.14 for assistance to the berth but Horizon’s member of staff missed the plane so we ended up docking the boat ourselves . Ok for us as we’re experienced in catamaran boat handling but could have been a bit daunting for someone with less experience.

Four couples from NC set sail on Barefoot Bliss for the trip of a lifetime. Captain Rob was excellent at navigating and making expresso martinis. He planned our route perfectly, taking us to all the famous places and also to the tucked away spots where we enjoyed snorkeling among the sea turtles and tropical fish. The food was incredible! Chef Ariq continually outdid himself with delicious meals presented beautifully. We will be making a return trip aboard the Barefoot Bliss with Rob and Ariq—the only question is when! Don’t miss the opportunity to experience the BVIs in this personalized, unique way. Can’t recommend this boat or trip enough.

When chartering with Horizon for a family trip in the BVI's we were fortunate to have Captain Pieter and Theresa (the Admiral) on our 51 foot catamaran. In our pre-meeting they took the time to listen to everything we were asking for in our "perfect trip". We had such a warm welcome with a beautiful lunch, champagne and a pre-sail introduction to Vienna, our beautiful well maintained boat. Their knowledge of the BVIs was critical. Their personal connections with the locals really facilitated the best experience. We had good wind and they skillfully planned routes that let us gain knowledge with each point of sail. They did not hesitate to suggest small changes from the plan that would result in a more restful night or a more beautiful place to wake up. We hit the highlights as well as some "old Caribbean" look and feel anchorages. Pieter and Theresa timed our visits so we missed the crowds and the entire trip felt very custom. Theresa prepared fresh, delicious food while Pieter mixed some great cocktails! They were so knowledgeable about sailing and life aboard and were happy to teach and share. Their teamwork was great to watch. The communication with us throughout the week made for a very personalized trip. By the end of the week it felt like we just spent time with family and 2 great friends. I cannot recommend them enough.

It was our second charter with Horizon. These people are incredible in their strive to perfection. Both times the boats were meticulously cleaned and performed perfectly. The staff was very friendly and helpful and provided advice and suggestions with all aspects. Any issues (there was a minor one last year) were addressed in no time with a smile.

Fantastic trip. Visited several new places. Reservation process went smoothly. Courtney and Sandra were always available to answer questions. Organized taxi pickup was punctual. First night on board also went well. Boat was in great condition.
