About
Check out this surfside bar and restaurant for its famous Bomba Punch, which packs quite a whallop, and the so-called "herbal" tea.

Its difficult to call Bomba Shack a shack (it is actually a couple of plywood walls with a tin roof). It is located on Aplle Bay, about 100 yards from Sebastions. The Bomba Punch is incredibly strong and every full moon he hosts a mushroom party. Many people smoke ganja openly and the floor consists of sand. I found over $20 buried in the sand near the bar (from people dropping money). It is very unique...

Take a trip here if it's a full moon as they have an amazing beach party. At midnight they will bring out the special tea for you to try, be careful as it's going to be very hot, I managed to burn my mouth but with the effects of the tea never even noticed.

This place is a kind little rocking shack! We didn't go for the famous Full moon party, but just a random Wednesday BBQ night. Local reggae band, playing sweet tunes cut out when the power went off (this can happen). The party didn't stop and people were quite friendly. Look out for Bomba's punch! You will enjoy!

The only reason I rated it so badly is that it is sadly no longer here. If you are coming to this part of the island just for the Bomba Shack, dont'. This is a really cool part of the island and I highly recommend you pass through here.. You will find two nice ladies selling local crafts and goods. The story is that Bomba lost his shack in the hurricane but does still live on the bay in a green shipping container. My heart goes out to him and all that suffered through the storm.

What a dive! Our awful tour guide stopped here on our recent shore excursion to the Island and was ranting and raving about this place on a full moon. Apparantly, everyone gets completely wasted and girls are encouraged to get naked and leave their knickers behind as a souvenir. These are all hung up around the bar - and outside - and the place is basically a corrugated tin shack with worn underwear danlging from it. And the guide seems to thinks it's world famous...maybe between the 18-30 set with loads of STI's perhaps!!!!!!

Tortola is an incredible place and Bomba's is a unique stop. Bomba's shack may not be much but the locals make up the awesome atmosphere. We got to experience a "tea party." Bomba had just opened another shack across the road where they served some great food also. Go there with an open mind & take it all in.....it is the way island life should be. God Bless Jason, Krispy, Dillionja, Bomba, & the island of Tortola. It was PRICELESS!
We loved island time so much we sold everything in Texas and now call Maui home. Tortola would be my first choice but it would be hard to get started in BVI. Maybe someday...but for now the sunsets over the Pacific aren't bad at all. It had to be the local hosptality & Bomba's Tea. Aloha

A little bit of everything...Good drinks, great music, extremely fun people, huge party scene. If in Tortola, your trip would not be complete without stopping by and leaving your mark! Like a spring break bar- Caribbean style! Go have fun!

i have lived in the US and BVI since 2006. I was also lucky enough to visit the Bomba Shack in the early 1990's before it became commercialized and touristy. It is certainly still a fun place, but... Don't get you hopes/expectations too high. The mushroom tea ceremony is a fun ritual. A boiling cauldron of mushroom tea over an open fire complete with a tea wizard and dancing all around. You buy an empty cup for $10 or $15 bucks and get a ladel of tea when it comes around. Certainly fun but just know it does not contain any hallucinogenic mushrooms/qualities. Getting cab rides in and out is quite expensive as well. $30-40 bucks each way for a 5 minute ride. The cabs are the modern day pirates in the Virgin Islands.

Having enjoyed Bomba's for the past 10 years I can say that now that it is mainstream (on the BVI's tourism calendar), I was unimpressed during my last visit at the may 2013 "full moon party". We arrived after 9:00 PM and thought we were too early. The crowd was very light. My first observation was "VIP" wrist bands for $50.00. Huh? Is this Disney World or the BVI's? Turns out this was just a funny ploy. While it started quiet, things did pick up a bit but across the road, the small stage beckoned us and the ladies. However, alas, there was no band, just a piped in Gang Nam style with a lot of other goofy tunes that defied any sort of dance incentive. Back across the road at the shack, the staff was accommodating but just not what tradition dictates. For those that have never been, go and get a punch and move on. For those who have great memories there, keep them as memories and don't return.

I spent 6/15/11 at the BOMBA shack for the full moon party! What a trip!!! It was a blast and I highly suggest you try to make it on the full moon party.. The shroom tea is just ok but if your there try the BOMBA punch with shrooms inside .. Now that's a drink!!! They are legal there and you will find quite a few vendors selling them right from there hand .. Be careful and stick with the packaged ones... The music was great Queto was rockin some sick music .. BOMBA the man himself is a trip and very cool.. The bar is literally a shack... One place crossed off the bucket list !!! A must see!
