I have done many triathlons and bike rides in NC but hills are not my strength. How hard is it to cycle around the island? There are a few hills, ok one in particular I am afraid of! My husband wants to cycle the whole island but I'm not sure if I can make it up the main hill???!?!?! I am afraid of cars, tight lanes, and climbing.

Hello Jillian, St. Maarten is known for its climbs and you will encounter, not one, not two, but seven tough climbs when you venture around the island. We all ride here and we love them, but if climbing is not your thing, then perhaps better to stick to a nice anticlockwise loop around the Simpsonbay Lagoon which includes only a small climb near the Bay Rouge Beach. Our roads are narrow and you will most definitely be riding with traffic, but the drivers are very considerate of cyclists, so don't let that scare you off.
