Located not far from the "Place du Marché" (Market Place), Fort Louis was built in 1789 on a hill overlooking Marigot Bay and the island of Anguilla by the locals in the town to protect the city. It is free and you have access from a paved road called "Rue du Fort Louis" and several steep steps after. You will... More

The fort is nice and it is fun to be able to actually walk through it and touch the walls and cannons. Great place for the kids to explore. We went back three times so our son could explore and play.

The hike to the top of this hill isn't too difficult, but it is pretty steep. Being large in stature, it was more difficult for me than most, but I was able to make it to the top without needing a break. You can also get a ride to almost the top, but we just walked from the mall below.

After shopping the local market for souvenirs to bring home; bags, jewelry, dresses, spices and T-shirts we decided to talk the short walk up to the fort ruins. It was mostly steps and a paved route. Not difficult at all but the view was fantastic. Worth the little effort to get there.

This is a short hike to a scenic, historical point. The view is gorgeous and perfect for pictures. Couple visiting the fort with the open market in Marigot.

A lovely hike up the hill rewarded by an amazing view. You could, pretty much, see the entire island from up here. I highly recommend this little respite from the beach! It's quite breezy so keep that in mind when picking your outfit for the day. We had breakfast at Sarafina's and walked here.

The view from this fort is spectacular. You can take in the views of Marigot as well as the ocean from up high, while you sit back and enjoy the cool Caribbean breeze. It's free, parking is plentiful and the street is not hard to find. Great for a picnic!

This is a fort with a view. The view is stunning almost in all directions that you look. We took lots of pics from here and I wished that we had brought a picnic. Parking is difficult at site.

This is a french fort up on a hill. There are some can ons and ruin of the fort, not much to see as a fort but the views of the town and ocean are awesome!
