I have wanted to snuba for several years. Once I got there I was petrified. Mich and Kelly were great. My hand was literally held through the entire time by Kelly in order to ease my nerves. All directions were given were excellent as well. I had an amazing time and would do this again without a doubt. I highly recommend snuba diving if in St Maarteen

This Snuba trip was amazing!!! Mich and Kelly were so knowledgeable and so patient with our training. None of our party of 6 had done this before and some of us (me) were nervous about breathing under water. Kelly took her time to make sure we were comfortable and went at our own pace. She spent a lot of time training us, providing tips and making us feel confident. I would HIGHLY recommend doing Snuba with them to anyone. Also—they were just great people!!!

Without a doubt, Snuba diving with Mitch and Kelly is an absolute MUST do when visiting Sint Maarten! I am still in disbelief about how amazing this experience was, Kelly was an excellent guide who was able to help show us an entire new world below the waters surface. I am not an excellent swimmer, but there was never a moment where I did not feel safe or comfortable when exploring the ocean floor. If you are visiting Sint Maarten; this is an absolute must, and I would even recommend it over standard tourist activities such as the Flying Dutchman and Loterie Farm. My wife and I both agree that this was the best part of our vacation and truly believe you would be missing out if you visited Sint Maarten without giving Mitch and Kelly a visit!

Kelly and Mitch were super kind and worked extremely hard to make us feel comfortable and safe in the water. This was both of our first time SNUBAing but we were excited and looking forward to seeing lots of wildlife and debris in the water. We went with a family group and ended up sharing the SNUBA boat with another pair who were not as adept in the water. This wouldn't be a problem except our guide (Kelly) spent a long time on the surface helping them (Which is good, they needed the help) and we felt that we didn't get to see very much. By the time she came down to dive with us, she directed me to go forward, and I went too fast, pulling the boat with me, and then was called up and told we were out of oxygen. We didn't realize it was done by tank or that sitting deeper burned more, but our time in the water was very short and we didn't get to SNUBA to the things we wanted to see. I would recommend this tour in the future or to a friend but I would caveat it by telling them to bring groups of 4, or to ensure that everyone you are with is on the same page with going forward.

Hi William. You'd have had a longer time under water if you'd waited a little at the surface (breathing through your snorkel) till everyone on the raft was comfortable. and swim a little more relaxed under water. all in all 27 minutes under the surface at 20ft depth is not bad! the recommended time for a SNUBA tour is 20 minutes under water. we offer unlimited time, just going for air consumption time. *tip*
Thank you for your nice words though and we're glad you got to try this. Definitely do it again. Most places would offer a private trip. It is more expensive of course, but then it is you and only you. Maybe that is an option??

This trip was one of the highlights of our stay in St. Maarten. The owner/operators were incredibly kind and great sources of information both about scuba/Snuba as well as about the island. Kelly and Mich were incredibly personable, nice and encouraging. I will definitely Snuba again and it will definitely be with them. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this excursion for those with young kids unless they are great swimmers and adventurous.

If you want to have a great experience exploring the underworld of St. Maarten to include marine life, submarines, canons, even a wrecked helicopter- sign up for a snuba adventure with SNUBASXM. Kelly & Mich are outstanding Snuba professionals that provided the best Caribbean experience. My daughter and I were so thankful, grateful, and impressed with their knowledge, patience and TLC. We both had some pre event jitters and butterflies but they were well accustomed to smoothing everything out. We highly recommend SNUBASXM for a fun & exciting activity while in St. Maarten.

Michel and Kelly worked so hard to make this an absolute dream come true experience for my husband and I. They were funny, fun, patient, informative and extremely relaxing to someone like me who has never been snuba-ing (let alone scuba!) and it really fueled my passion to want to learn how to scuba dive next!
We were able to both snorkel and snuba and it seriously made the whole vacation. Kelly snaps fantastic photos the whole time underwater for us to remember our trip by and helps every step of the way underwater (if you need it) and Michel cracks funny jokes and is really good at explaining everything and making everyone feel at ease and have a blast. I would definitely do this adventure again!

A very enjoyable experience. Mich was a great instructor and guide. He put us all at ease and helped us quickly get used to breathing under water. He even had the fish (almost literally) eating out of his hands!
The dive itself was fantastic with so many sunken treasures to see: a helicopter, a submarine, a DC-9, cannons, etc.

If you're ever in St. Maarten you have to go to SNUBA SXM with Mich & Kelly. This is a fantastic experience. Mich & Kelly took my wife and I out on a beautiful afternoon and devoted the entire tour to making our experience a special one. I am not totally comfortable in the ocean, but they allowed me to go at my own pace, which was great and my wife went at her pace, which is more comfortable then me and we both loved it. Mich & Kelly are a great team and accomplished divers so they really make you feel comfortable at what ever level you are. Kelly dives with you and literally holds your hand if that's what you need. The area they bring you to dive is awesome with sunken wrecks and beautiful fish. Do yourself a favor and go to SNUBA SXM and let Mich & Kelly show you some of the beauty in St. Maarten, you won't be disappointed......

Kelly and Mich are AMAZING!! I felt completely safe, and absolutely comfortable with them. Very knowledgeable, both have extensive experience and training. They made my 50th birthday trip AMAZING!! I highly recommend using SNUBASXM over any other!! When in St Maarten, definitely book this!! We will be back

Thinking about booking for my son and nephew but they are 13 & 14. I have no interest in doing this myself. Is their a cost for the parent to go on ship with them but not snuba?

I don’t think so, but don’t remember, as all four of my family participated. They were very nice and professional. I would email them to find out. It was the best way to communicate with the staff.

I am sorry, I haven't checked in on TripAdvisor since I posted about Snuba until today. We were in the water probably about 45 minutes or so. It was pretty cool! We'd do it again :)

Snuba is on my bucket list. Did you have a problem with water coming inside your mask? When I snorkel the water seeping in always freaks me out. Thanks

Yes. I have a full-faced beard that is quite long and I experienced some difficulty with water seepage into my mask. No worries; just a few tips to consider. First, breathing underwater seemed a bit unnatural to me. I had to calm myself down and just let it happen. As for the mask, all you have to do is push the top of your mask into your forehead with a few fingers and blow air into the mask from your nose; the air will force the water out and things will be just fine. It does take a little getting used to, but it really is simple. The good folks at SNUBA will help you. You just have to "visualize" the whole thing in your mind and let it happen. For what it's worth, no one has ever drowned using this technology. Hope this helps! Have an excellent adventure!

SNUBA SXM has a contract with several cruise lines and cannot take you directly if you're on one of their ships. if you are on ships from other cruise lines or staying on the island, you can book yourself in using the online form on the website. You will find a list of current cruise ship contracts on the website as well. Check the "On a Cruise" section of the website for more info. See you soon! :)

There is not a lot to see? Hm... a sunken helicopter, airplane, submarine, sailboat, cannons, corals, schools of many hundreds of fish.... the occasional eagle and/or stingray, baracuda,.....

Is this the place that Royal Caribbean uses for ADVENTURE SNUBA? We will be cruising here and want to know how long you actually SNUBA for? How warm is the water in December?

Good day Melissa. Yes, we service Royal Caribbean for SNUBA. In fact, we are the only SNUBA facility on the island.
The time you spend under water is a bit subjected to the actual diver. If you are completely relaxed, 30-35 minutes can be achieved. If you are extremely nervous, this time can be reduced to 15 minutes due to air consumption. This is why we allow a few minutes with the equipment at the surface to have you get used to the equipment. In general this is enough to get reasonably comfortable and have our guests do a nice tour.
I would say the average is 20-25 minutes under water, with a few peeks and throughs to both ends. Before or after the tour (depending on which group you are in) you have the opportunity to snorkel and swim or hang out in the water or on the boat.
The water in December is still 78 degrees. Very comfortable!
