This shop was fantastic - we visited three days in a row and it's one of my favorite spots on the island. It smells amazing as you walk in - like freshly baked bread and pastries. They offer you plenty of free samples of cheese and even some of the wine and liqueur they sell (I tried stroopwaffel flavored liqueur, and it was amazing). The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. We wanted to book a wine and cheese tasting but had limited options, and Roger worked with us to find a day that we could go. Margheurita hosted our wine and cheese tasting, and it was fabulous. We sampled six different types of gouda and had several glasses of wine and champagne each. We learned so much about each cheese (all delicious) and she even shared recipe ideas with us. A wonderful experience all the way through - you won't leave emptyhanded, trust me!

Thank you for the lovely review! I will let the staff know :) We freshly bake off almond paste cookies in the store, and yes samples are for us important so that you make sure you will enjoy what you bought! See you on your next trip to St Maarten!

This was my second visit to this wonderful shop. My first visit to it was during a port call on Royal Caribbean's Grandeur of the Seas, I bought some small gouda cheeses with caraway seed. Also, I bought 1 of their insulated bags to keep the cheeses from spoiling. The bag worked fine and, the cheese turned out to be excellent. When I made port here again in January 2022, this place was at the top of my list. It's within walking distance of the cruise ship port and, you go by it on your walk into Philipsburg.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. They have a good selection of real Dutch cheeses that are imported from the Netherlands. I haven't tried any of their liquors so, I can't say if they're any good. Price wise, I thought they were reasonable.

Overall, I was very pleased with this shop and would heartily recommend it to anyone though especially to any cheese lovers. It's a great shop and worth looking for if you're in St. Maarten.

A cheese lovers dream- haha! Many different cheeses with free samples on offer. Also many different rums & liquors, also with samples. A good selection of gifts and trinkets.
We had some ice cream, homemade almond cookies & drinks on the front deck . We purchased with a few different cheeses ( cheddar & black truffle) and some chocolate rum ( who knew there was chocolate rum?! ) We also found a great funny T- shirt for cheese lovers.
The rum & cheese, left unopened, was easily transported & cleared customs. Yay!
Highly recommend this shop for the variety of unusual , delicious food products and their helpful, friendly staff!
Incidentally, We were in the parking lot looking for our shore excursion meeting point, when a store employee noticed and asked us if we needed help. We would have not even noticed this shop if it weren't for their helpful friendly staff !

This shop is just a block from the cruise ship pier. The trolly train stopped for about 10 minutes. A thin cheese sample was given out upon entering. Couldn’t pass up the wonderful Dutch almond cookies, still warm from the oven, that were available for purchase - 3 for $5. No one on the tour purchased cheese, however. Interesting store but wouldn’t make it a destination, especially with concerns of getting the cheese back through customs and security.

Hi Betsy, glad you found our store to be interesting. We are the only Dutch store on St. Maarten, and also the only cheese store on the island. The concerns (some) people have about bringing cheese through customs and security are not justified; You are actually allowed 20lbs of cheese through US customs! Main rule, keep the cheese sealed. And the cheeses we carry can last a week and even up to 6 weeks in air-conditioning, so it travels just fine. Hope you stop in next time and try more of our cheeses!

A rainy day off Celebrity Equinox! It was pouring with rain before we started the tour. This was our first foodie stop. What a surprise. A tasting of cheeses including Old Amsterdam and a cookery demonstration of 4 cheese pasta. Everyone got to taste this lovely dish, and one of our group, assisted the chef! Food was fabulous, as was the drink. Lots of cheese available in store, unfortunately weren’t sure we’d be able to get it through customs back to the UK so didn’t purchase any. (We did when we got home!). Recently, 2 months after our trip, I contacted the shop for the recipe which they kindly sent!

Yes, you are allowed to bring the cheese through any European country, as longs as you keep it sealed! Glad you enjoyed our part of the Flavors of St Martin Food tour, and enjoy making the Dutch gourmet pasta at home!

The owner gave us samples of most of his cheeses and was very knowledgeable about his products. We've been to St Marteen many times and this was our first visit. We ended up buying a wide assortment of cheeses and we definitely recommend it and will visit again on our next visit. We highly recommend it.

Able to transport cheese purchase home easily. Sharing the large Gouda wheel with friends and family at home in the United States was wonderful. Cheese directly from St Maarten was great tasting and its transport made an interesting story to share.

It's easy to bring your cheese back home...well if you can resist opening up the vacuum-sealed cheese. Do enjoy! See you next time :D

I heard about this place from someone on my dive boat one morning off the coast of Sint Maarten. Knowing that my wife loves wine and cheese tastings, I decided to take her. Etienne presented the cheeses one-by-one and was a perfect host. It was quite an educational experience and the cheese and wine were delicious! After the sampling, I noticed that they also carried a good selection of whiskeys, at which point we transitioned into sampling various single-malt scotches. This was a great experience. If you are ever in Philipsburg, Sint Maarten, you should consider stopping by!

I visited the cheese shop with my family. We all got to sample the cheese and Roger was very nice and helped answer all of our questions. He was very knowledgeable. The cheese was delicious! Definitely should stop by when visiting St.Martin. My mom purchased a bunch of cheese and we had no issues bringing it back with us through customs. Also my kids got to try the ice cream they had and that was sooo good especially the chocolate.

The best selection of imported cheese. Roger was at our resort one morning and brought samples of the best creamy, smokey Gouda! I convinced our group to take a taxi out to his store and we all walked away with a few pounds of various flavors of Gouda! Roger had samples that we absolutely loved and we bought vacuum sealed cheeses to bring back to the states. The best cheeses ever!
