Something we did two years ago and did it this year and just loved the walk up and down the boardwalk and never appreciated anymore than now. I know there is still much work to do but this section is really doing well.
This area of Phillipsburg caters to the cruise ships that dock nearby. But even if you aren’t a daytripper, you’ll enjoy the expansive boardwalk that skirts Great Bay. With the beach on one side and cafes/bars/shops on the other, there’s plenty to see. Be prepared...More
The boardwalk has lots of damage from hurricane Irma. A lot of the business have rebuild or repaired and are back open for business. Lots of shopping and eating if you come with a cruise ship. On days with no cruise ships, a lot of...More
This is the best place on the island for easy access to a beautiful beach, eating, shopping and people watching. Awesome for taking photos & selfies of your cruise ship, courthouse, boardwalk, etc. Love coming here to stroll the boardwalk and popping into the various...More

The boardwalk in Philipsburg is on Great Bay. It is a nice clean sand beach with attendants for chairs/umbrellas for swimming and sunning and water sports but it is not a good snorkeling area (too busy and wavy). You want to go to Little Bay (Divi Resort area) around the corner for better snorkeling/diving and they have a dive shack there, or take a catamaran day cruise that takes you up the west side of the island to Creole rock or to Tintammare or Prickley Pear.
