About Sea Trek St. Maarten
Sea Trek St. Maarten is a 2 ½ hour tour excursion that runs several times daily. The tour starts with a 5 minute walk from the gangway to the water taxi pier and a 10 minute boat ride out to our staging area. Once on board the Sea Trek dock your guide will give a safety briefing and will answer any questions that you may have. The underwater trek itself takes approximately 20-30 minutes to complete; based on the number of guests participating in that particular tour, 2 separate tours may be made. Each tour will have no more than 10 guests and will have a minimum of 3 Sea Trek staff members with the tour at all times as a safety precaution. If there are 2 groups participating in the tour, while one group is underwater the other guests are offered the opportunity to go for a snorkel while they wait. Once both groups have completed the Sea Trek tour there will be an opportunity to buy photos taken of you on the trek before boarding the boat and getting shuttled back to the cruise ship pier or the main land.Helmet diving feeds continuous air through low pressure lines on the surface down to the Sea Trekker under water. The air pressure inside the helmet keeps the water level right around shoulder height and the majority of the time you won’t even get your hair wet. You climb down a ladder from the Sea Trek dock that reaches 20 feet down to the ocean floor. The track, a loop approximately 300 feet long, takes you past both natural and artificial reefs such as a helicopter, a plane, a submarine, King Neptune and 2 canons salvaged from Fort Amsterdam. You’ll be also invited to interact with some of the local sea creatures along the way. Once back to the beginning of the track loop you climb the ladder back onto the dock while personally lead both up and down the ladder by a guide or safety diver.Min 8 yrs. and able to walk and climb a ladder. You have to be in good physical condition and sign a waiver. This tour is not recommended for guests with physical disabilities, a pacemaker, severe asthma, claustrophobia or for women over 3 months pregnant. Max depth is 20 feet. There are tee shirts, sodas and bottled water available for purchase after the tour – cash only please. No rest room available at the platform. No secured lockers available.

My dad was one of the construction workers who contributed to building this plat form at age 12 I gave it my first shot going under water with a 75pound helmet. It was a bit scary at first but its not so bad when you get to the bottom of the ocean floor which is max deapth 20--25ft. When doing this you should be attentive to the briefing given to your divers. this tour can last up to 1hr- 1.5hrs you will also have the chance to snorkle. This is a great way of getting to know the underwater world without getting your ears or hair wet. Theres tons of fish (thousands) to see and sunken object such as a submarine, helicopter, plane and cannons. dont forget when going underwater you should equalize every 2-2.5ft by pinching your nose and swallowing air. by doing this you body adjust to water pressure as you descend. If you do not do this and ignore your body, you might hurt your ear. just do this nice and slow everything will be awesome you will also get a free rum punch and there are pictures for sale for i think $36

We spent our vacation on St. Maarten and this was one of the activities we just had to try. We are barely swimmers, much less divers, so the opportunity to be underwater in conditions that accommodated us was very appealing. Arrangements online with the people running the operation went very well. There was a small misunderstanding at one point (about scheduling) but it was cleared up very quickly and professionally. Thank you for that! The experience itself while perhaps not as exciting to people who are divers was just what we hoped for. The staff involved from the front line office, to the captain and first mate of the boat getting us to the platform, the instructors on the platform and the divers helping out and assuring our safety were all very cheerful and helpful. They were encouraging, but not pushy. The experience has you climb down a ladder, walk a path designed for the experience, see and interact with sea life, and pose for a number of pictures you can later purchase. With a larger number of people they will split you into two groups. One goes under water and the other can use some of their snorkel equipment while they wait their turn. Or you can just enjoy being topside on the platform. We had a great time and would recommend it to others!

We had a wonderful time. I am a certified Scuba diver, but my wife is not. She was quite apprehensive, but she ended up having a wonderful time, as did I. It was as close to Scuba diving that she will ever get. I cannot recommend this enough. The staff and the divers that accompany you were so professional and helpful. The fish were amazing, it was just an exhilarating experience. My wife cannot see without her glasses, but that was not an issue as you can wear them. This 63 year old man and 64 year old woman would go back in a heartbeat!

From snorkling to 25 ft underwater with a heavy helmet is another level in attempting fear in water. All staff/divers were simply amazing and friendly, and most importantly very patient and helpful. We were all taken care of professionally.
