On this historic and educational tour, our knowledgeable guides take you on a journey of French Kings, chocolate, and organic fruits and vegetables. The tour begins with a brief history of the resort’s plantation, how it evolved, and where it is today. You are then led to the Cocoa Fermentation House to see the beginning of the chocolate making process, the drying trays, the cocoa – rina dance, and ultimately cocoa sticks being made. Next your guide takes you around the resort trails, passing under the tropical canopy of almond, nutmeg, cocoa, and palm trees. The many varieties of flowers include Pagoda, White Star Jasmine, and Lobster Claws, the latter of which features cup-like petals that collect rainwater, making them popular with the many Hummingbirds of Fond Doux Plantation & Resort. The tour ends with a scenic hike up the Lamontagne's trail which offers break taking rainforest views and a perfect view of Petit Piton. After your tour you will be treated to a sumptuous authentic Saint Lucian buffet lunch.

This turned out better than I expected due to our excellent guide Shyne. We booked the tour for noon (US$20 per person) and were lucky to be the only ones on it. Shyne pointed out plants/trees all along the way and crushed leaves or offered fruits to try when available. He told us a little of the history of the... More

The tour of the Cacao plantation was fascinating and Clinton our tour guide made it fun and informative. It is a lot more than cacao plantation with a large variety of fruit trees, exotic plants, and local plants/trees. You get to taste the cacao from fresh of the tree to dried and ready to roast (of course none of this... More

We went visited Fond Doux and opted for the tour and snacks. The tour was very interesting and Clinton was very informative. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and the snacks at the end were lovely. Although we didn't stay the accommodation did look very nice and if we go back to St Lucia we would consider staying here

Toured through the beautiful gardens. Sampled the fruit right off the trees. Saw how chocolate is fermented and dried. Clinton, our guide, was informative and made our tour very enjoyable and even demonstrated one of the steps in making chocolate. It ended with a delicious lunch using the organic produce from the plantation. It was one of our most enjoyable... More

This tour was so much more than I expected! My 9yr old son thought it would be another boring heritage tour. He was wrong and loved it. We did a hike for about 20 mins (I would say moderate intensity, but short enough that you're not out of breath for long) with cool trees and flowers along the way... and... More

We visited the Fond Doux plantation for a buffet lunch as part of our group tour around the island. The setting was open plan surrounded by the rainforest and the food selection was very good. I actually went back for seconds it was that delicious, which I don't normally do. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Although I went... More

lovely place, acres of botanical gems ,so well explained by a very presentable young man.the walk uo to the scenic point is not easy ,as its climbing and stony path ,need moderate agility.young ones will run up it in no time, but the vista was certainly worth the toil and sweat in the heat/ this was followed by a walk around the... I was expecting a basic walk around the gardens and then have lunch but this turned into quite a wonderful hike. We went up hill to a gorgeous view of the ocean and then through the flower and fruit gardens as well as the cocoa processing area. My guide Philip was amazing! He answered my numerous questions about the area... More

We had a lovely visit to this plantation. At first our guide seemed a bit disinterested but he answered everything we asked and became chattier as we went round. He was just young and laid back!! He arranged for us to sample coconut juice and coconut, cut straight from the tree by the gardener, showed us how some of the... More

We visited Fond Doux for the plantation tour, and for lunch, both of which were lovely. Our tour guide Tonya, supported by Jay, took us through the lush gardens, pointing out the various food and medicinal plants, the hotel garden, and the tropical foliage used for remarkable floral arrangements. We got to see how the cacao pods are grown, harvested,... More
