Cook like a Lucian was such a great excursion. Dean who is the Chef was such a gracious host. I thought we were only going to learn about cooking the local cuisine but it was that and so much more. He told us all about the history of the country as well as the history and the meaning of each dish. After we cooked all the dishes we all sat down with Dean to eat our fare and it felt like we were breaking bread with a long time friend. I highly recommend that you partake in this experience if you travel to St Lucia!

This was one of our best days while on our family Christmas holiday. The three of us joined 4 others from our cruise ship and were taken to Dean's kitchen for a fun day of cooking. His mother and brother were there to assist and made us feel like part of the family. We were able to make so many dishes and try many new things. Once the food was all cooked, it was packed up and taken to the beach. There was a covered area with a table and chairs where we enjoyed our feast. Also plenty of time to play at the beach before returning to the ship. This is a must do for people who enjoy cooking, eating, and getting a taste of local life!

Wow, Wow, Wow!!! This us a "must do" experience. From start to finish this was an amazing day. We were greeted very warmly by Dean and his Mum Antonia. We were given drinks throughout the time we were with them to keep us hydrated but also drinks we hadn't had before, such as Sorrel Shandy, coconut water and of course Piton lager! The food we cooked was all made using fresh ingredients even down to the coconut oil (which was a process in itself!) We were given instructions and involved in the processes of cooking delicious Caribbean food. We loved eating the saltfish and green fig which is the Lucian National dish and indeed eating all the food we'd cooked together. There was so much to see, learn and do. We are so pleased we did this and cannot thank Dean & Antonia enough for spending the time with us teaching us How To Cook Like A Lucian.

We spent a fun afternoon cooking traditional Lucian food in Dean's kitchen. It was the perfect way to learn about traditional culture and history with a friendly and kind host! Dean was knowledgeable, insightful and got everyone cooking and laughing together. We learned how to make a lot of dishes including greenfig and saltfish, creole fish and bakes... all which we got to enjoy as a group once the hard work was done :) Dean made the effort to send us photos and recipes following the class which was a thoughtful touch. A mouthwatering and fun way to spend some time on the island.

I've been regularly coming to St Lucia to visit family my whole life. I love Lucian food but never found it that accessible to learn how to make. I think everyone who wants to taste the island's culture and desires to learn about Creole food should take a class with Dean. He was so responsive, warm, accommodating, and genuine while teaching us to cook a whole spread of classic and authentic Lucian dishes. I can't wait to get home and make them again!

Our family booked a cooking class with Dean/Tony at Cook Like a Lucian during our recent trip to St Lucia. It was a fun, hands-on experience, and we learned all about the history and culture of Lucian food.

He was very responsive and easy to get in touch with while we were planning our trip, thoughtful to ask about allergies or other requirements for our family, and did an awesome job engaging our kids as part of the class, and - most importantly - the food was delicious!

We love supporting local family owned businesses, and definitely got a much more genuine and personal experience with Dean and his Mom, who helped out with the teaching and cooking. This was definitely one of the highlights of our time in St Lucia!

A great evening of cooking.
Dean was fun & knowledgable. The food we cooked was all very straightforward, but really tasty. Lots of it too. And we learnt a bit about the cultural connections to it. I’d recommend this trip to anyone.

So glad I convinced my husband to join me for this interactive cooking and dining experience. It is one of the few excursions offered in the evening — allowing us to still enjoy every sunny day during our stay. I love to explore new places and learn about the culture. Dean is a wonderful chef with a vast amount of knowledge about the history of the food you’ll prepare and the nutritional value it offers as well. My husband was pleasantly surprised — we had so much fun cooking TOGETHER and enjoying the meal we prepared alongside Chef Dean. The amazing food and conversation was endless and worthwhile! Our favorites were the Caribbean chicken dish (YUM!), the fried plantains, the bake dough rolls, and the freshly brewed cocoa tea. Look forward to taking these wonderful recipes back home with us. Thank you, Chef Dean! See you next year for sure...

We had a wonderful morning/ afternoon with Dean and Antonia! Dean was very intelligent and knowledgeable about the food and island he calls home. We learned how to derive coconut oil, make the traditional foods of Saint Lucia, and a lot of history as well. It’s the off season so there were only three of us plus Dean and his mom. A personalized cooking class worth every penny. So glad it came with a set of recipes so we can try these great foods again at home!
One thought- we’d have left bed to be able to purchase a T shirt- and that would help you advertise!

Back 5 years later, it was another great feast of local cuisine at Cook Like a Lucian. Thank you, Tony and Reese for a great birthday party, complete with coconut birthday cake. The cocoa tea was fabulous, the food delicious and our hosts gracious and fun. We enjoyed this cooking class so much 5 years ago that we made it a priority to do it again and highly recommend it as a fun way to learn about local foods.
