Very tired and poorly maintained. Oddly the entrance price is in US$ and not EC$ (the local currency).
The path to the top of signal peak is steep, loose and not an easy climb. Fort Rodney on the lower peak is easier but use the Rodney bay side path not the Atlantic side.

A group of us visited Fort Rodney in November 2020 while venturing through Pigeon Point National Park (see separate review). The scenery is spectacular and the history is very interesting to learn. Everything is labeled well and it is really amazing to hike to Fort Rodney and see the layout. I highly recommend it! See photos.

Staying at the Sandals Grande St. Lucian and took a hike. The view gives you a great view of Rodney Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Hiking to both peaks takes about 90 minutes to two hours. I would recommend wearing a good pair of walking shoes and several bottles of water. Hiking in the AM is better as it does get hot in the afternoon. Getting to both peaks does take some physical energy. People with physical limitations should consider other alternatives.

The hike to the fort is not that bad, but I recommend sneakers or at last good shoes as there are some uneven parts and a ladder at the fort itself.
Once on top of the parapet the views are simply stunning! You can see miles doesn't the west coast of the island.
Worth it for the views for sure!

stunning location- we took a local bus (cheaper than taxi). $10 entrance, then trecked to top of both the fort and the lookout. It's worth the effort to reach the top - spectacular views. Have a refreshing drink at the cafe and look out across the beautiful beach, towards the Sandals resort. You can walk back along the beach, but don't stray into the hotel, or you will get told off by security! (Quite rightly, as it's an AI resort).
If you're energetic, walk right back to Rodney Bay - you'll see some interesting sights..

Visiting this fort and surrounding area was a highlight of our trip. The views from the fort are incredible! We enjoyed seeing the remnants of the fort and buildings on the island too. Took us 90 minutes to hike both mountains, including spending time at the top to enjoy the view. Bring water and wear athletic shoes. Fort Rodney is an easy hike, with some very steep steps/ladder to reach top. If hiking to Signal peak from fort, first half is pretty flat and someone can wait at a grassy part if they choose not to go all the way to the top. The final 200 yards are rocky and you need to use your hands to climb some of the rocks. It is also very windy at the top; but worth the effort for the views. Best $10 I spent on the island!

After quite a strenuous “walk” to the top of Fort Rodney, you are rewarded with a fantastic view. While others had less difficulty than us, the last part of the trail is quite steep, rocky and in the sun. Plan accordingly to fully enjoy.

Good views from the top but quite a climb to get there. After coming down go to the bar near the jetty where they serve refreshing cocktails.

There are few historical sites on St Lucia, so if you are looking for "history fix" your choices are fairly limited.... but this small fort is a superb place to visit. Although not the largest fort in the world its location, high on a headland, gives it a commanding views and even if there was no fort the hike up here would be worth the views ! There are information boards explaining aspects of the forts history and 2 twenty four pounder cannons on the "battlements". Rugged and exposed one can get a feel of the life of the garrison who stood guard in the fort in the late 1700s.

Easy walk up to the Fort. It was actually used during WWII as a Signal Point. The walk to Signal Point is moderate to mildly difficult. It's worth the climb. The views are spectacular. We also spent the morning at the beach below.
