Not knowing quite what to expect we had a fantastic day with Kirk Elliot that was booked via email and Kirk was always quick with his replies. Armed with my new Camera we took a $60 One-hour taxi trip up to Castries from Coconut bay in the South of St Lucia and met him at a local bar. We discussed my experience using a DSLR camera and what skills I would like to develop during the day. My wife was paying great attention and also as an I phone snap shooter she wanted to get as much out of it as possible. We spent some time exploring photography then set off to some various locations to see some wonderful scenery including the harbour, Church and practice our new found knowledge. After a great lunch and a beer, we went on to Marigot bay and the small island to take some photos and get some critique on what we were doing. Kirk also demonstrated the benefits of Flash helping to understand the rules and often less is more. Kirk also followed up on the knowledge he shared with us and sent some valuable pointers when we got home.
Enjoying a great day, we all got carried away and it went on longer than expected. Kirk then very kindly gave us a lift back to our hotel an hour away.
I came away wanting to take a deeper insight, thinking about a picture and get inspired to make my images have some emotion and meaning. If you want to have a great day and take better pictures getting more out of them, Kirk is the man. What a great Guy and a big personality.

I am both humbled and delighted to have been such a significant part of Alan and Cheryl's St Lucia vacation experience.
Best of all the photography insights I shared will serve them both over many a subsequent vacation and that for me is truly special...

From start to finish, Kirk Elliott’s photography tour was the highlight of my trip to St. Lucia. Before we even set foot on the island, he conducted a Zoom call to understand my skill level and photography goals. On that call, I asked if my friend, who is not a photographer, could attend, with my concern being that she’d be bored. He assured me he would conduct the tour so that I got subjects I’d enjoy focusing on, and she would learn a lot about the culture and history of the island. He held another Zoom call and helped us organize our other activities so we didn’t waste time driving all day to see just one thing. That alone saved us a lot of frustration. We enjoyed the entire trip more, given his direction.
His passion for St. Lucia was obvious. Since my photography leans to the abstract, I wasn’t as interested in typical landscape shots. He thought through that and studied my website photos to plan a route. But he included stops for different perspectives, giving us both an overview of the island. Not only did we learn a lot about the island, but we also enjoyed how many people stopped to chat with him. Saying he has a gregarious personality is an understatement. One of the highlights was meeting some kids who had just finished their school day. Meeting the people of St. Lucia gave more meaning to our visit. He also introduced us to some native foods that we most likely would not have tried without his encouragement and guidance.
Kirk also went above and beyond to answer questions after the tour. His commitment to our satisfaction didn't end with the tour. As I have been home and processing photos, I’ve forgotten some names, and he is quick on WhatsApp to answer. This post-tour support was invaluable, especially when I needed help with my photos. While the tour might seem expensive, it was well worth us not trying to drive on the “wrong” side of the road and being nervous about where we were. On top of that, a guidebook could never offer the authentic flavor of this Caribbean location with the

Just last week, I spent a day with Kirk Elliot on a private photo workshop. Actually, my wife came along as a non photographer. And,actually, it was more than a day. The scheduled day turned out to be rainy all day-not typical in January. Kirk came out to the resort anyway, and he spent over an hour taking care of the classroom type teaching of the class. I have been doing photography for over 50 years, and thought I didn't really need this. He did indeed teach me things, both that day, and the actual photo day, that will improve my photography for the next 50 years.
The photo day was far different than I anticipated. I thought Kirk would just take us to the most photogenic places and tell me where to shoot. In reality, I did not take a lot of photographs, but they were shot through the mental filters he taught me, especially about how my photographs should "tell the story", and chip away the unnecessary "marble" that was hiding the treasure.
Time was not an element-we still spent more than the allotted 6 hours. I believe that Kirk did everything that he could have to enhance my experience, and the way that I will approach my photography in the future. Thank you,Kirk!

What a great time I had with Steve and Kathy on their Private Photo Tour. When Steve first contacted me he was uncertain about a Private Photo Tour vs a Group Photo Tour and in the end his choice to go private saved the day as it allowed us to defer to another day as our original day was gray and rainy.
And since I had gone over the theory part of the Photo Tour on the rainy day we had more time to shoot a few days later when we went out. Another big plus was that Kathy came out with us though initially she had not intended to. So she got to see a side of Saint Lucia that can only be seen on the Photo Tour as I strive to share authentic Saint Lucia with my guests rather than the typical packaged touristy attractions
So all told it was another great day out and another photographer who has seen the light! :-)

Kirk is AMAZING!
My husband and I enjoyed not only the pictures he took of us but we enjoyed getting to know him. He is professional, intelligent, kind and trustworthy. Prior to our trip to St. Lucia to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary, he requested zoom call to make sure that he was able to understand my vision for my photo shoot. My husband, who have NEVER enjoyed photo shoots, had the most enjoyable time with Kirk. He said it was the highlight of our trip-meeting Kirk. Kirk drove us around the island and took us to some of the off the beaten path places. We never would have enjoyed such an authentic experience had we not met him. He gave us a through understanding of the history of the island, which we appreciated. We are planning on bringing some friends to Saint Lucia this fall and will definitively be using Kirk’s services again.

Kirk is simply the best! He took us around the all island, let us discover the authenticity of this magic place. He greeted us at the airport, expedited our entry requirements, waited for us with the champagne and took us to a local joint to taste the real food. He took us for a great hiking experience on the Gros Piton and arranged for a fantastic breakfast and lunch. This was not simply a tour, it was an authentic experience and Kirk and his staff are not just tour guides, they are your friends! I great recommend them to anyone visiting St. Lucia!

Seeking to move away from “auto mode” on the camera, we booked Kirk’s services for a days instruction. He’s very friendly and skilled at imparting knowledge. He also knows seemingly everyone on the street - so can provide endless subjects to take increasingly interesting photos. By the end of the day, I felt confident in handling the focus, shutter speed and ISO settings and had a much better appreciation of photo composition.
If you want a fun, instructional and lively day - while learning to use to camera more effectively - he’s your man!

Kirk was one of the highlights of our visit to St. Lucia. From initially reaching out to him via the Internet, he was a great guide every step of the way. He immediately scheduled a Zoom meeting to discuss my goals. After discussing my ideas, he tasked me with homework (which I gladly completed) and began brainstorming ways to make my vision a reality. He quickly provided an estimate and completely allowed me time to weigh my options. I wholeheartedly chose to work with him.
Once sharing our travel plans, he suggested scheduling the photos at the beginning of our vacation. This was so that we could enjoy the rest of our time without the interruption of photos once we were in the thick of activities. He even volunteered to take my husband and me around town to sample the local cuisine!
Kirk was the consummate professional! He even picked us up from our hotel, so transportation was not an issue. His assistant Natalie was a sweetheart who provided an additional set of eyes for us. To say we were pleased with our photos would be an understatement; and based on the “likes” and comments alone, he did a phenomenal job.
It is my belief that professional vacation photos are the best souvenirs of your travels. If you are looking for someone to help construct and capture images that are not only breathtaking, but photos that visually tell a story- look no further than St. Lucia Photo Tours! You can thank me later.

Before visiting Ste Lucia island, I understood talking with Kirk that he was passionate. We have chosen together what to do and where to go as it was our first time there, as we were 8 french people coming, as doing a cruise tour we wanted not to see the same things from an island to the other. Kirk has been an excellent guide and very helpful on advices !
On site, he kept on talking slowly and clearly so that we could understand him as we are none English native. We do thank his patience and the way he drove us during a single day. For sure, that was the best way for visiting Ste Lucia : having our private tour. At last, we received pictures and a video as present from Kirk. That’s make the difference again. Thanks a lot Kirk for all of this.

The island of St. Lucia is so beautiful and even more so when you get to see it through the eyes of the best tour guide ever, Kirk Elliott. We wanted a personal experience and wanted to see places that most tourists do not see. This tour did not disappoint. Quite frankly it was the best experience we’ve ever had. From the moment we met Kirk we knew he was our guy. He set up several zoom meetings with us prior to our arrival and touched base with us after arrival. We went to the rum distillery, saw old war barracks, went through the rain forest, ate THE BEST and BIGGEST lobster at Mama Tilly’s, saw local fisherman, ate freshly made chocolate, drank cocoa tea, ate fresh hot bread, saw the Pitons, and went to a waterfall on privately owned land. I’ve saved the best for last, we went to a school and had the best time with some kiddos! Wow, just wow!!! If you are looking to gain knowledge of the island, have some laughs, end up with great photos and videos, and end up with a friend from St. Lucia then Kirk is your guy. Honestly, we’d go back just to see our new friend!!!!

I had a virtual photography class with Kirk and it was excellent. He gave really good tips on taking better photos and took the time to explain how we could make our properties more appealing. I use my tips for my jewelry business as well, he has certainly increased my knowledge and understanding of photography. I really hope there are other courses coming soon!

I don't have a DLSR camera....this is the camera I have: The best-performing compact with 1.0-type sensor
Meet the RX100 V — the ultimate compact for capturing movies and stills in captivating detail. This camera inherits the RX100 series’ renowned 1.0-type image sensor, and advances with blazing-fast 0.05-second3 autofocus, 315 AF points for the world’s most1 comprehensive phase-detection coverage of its kind, continuous shooting up to 24 fps4 with AF/ AE tracking, as well as outstanding 4K movie capabilities.
Would this tour work for me?
Written June 9, 2018
Hey TE
If you love photography (and from that camera it looks like a yes) and you are interested in learning to shoot more than just snapshots this tour is perfect for you. However I recommend you download your camera’s manual and save it to your phone as you may have to refer to it to find various functions that are hidden in sub-menus due to the compactness of the camera

Is it possible to schedule a tour on a day other than Monday or Thursday? I'm only in town for a few days in May and I'm looking to fill my Sunday with a great photography tour covering Marigot Bay to Cap Point. I would truly like to capture the culture and some awesome street art!
