Kirk is simply the best! He took us around the all island, let us discover the authenticity of this magic place. He greeted us at the airport, expedited our entry requirements, waited for us with the champagne and took us to a local joint to taste the real food. He took us for a great hiking experience on the Gros Piton and arranged for a fantastic breakfast and lunch. This was not simply a tour, it was an authentic experience and Kirk and his staff are not just tour guides, they are your friends! I great recommend them to anyone visiting St. Lucia!

Kirk is AMAZING!
My husband and I enjoyed not only the pictures he took of us but we enjoyed getting to know him. He is professional, intelligent, kind and trustworthy. Prior to our trip to St. Lucia to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary, he requested zoom call to make sure that he was able to understand my vision for my photo shoot. My husband, who have NEVER enjoyed photo shoots, had the most enjoyable time with Kirk. He said it was the highlight of our trip-meeting Kirk. Kirk drove us around the island and took us to some of the off the beaten path places. We never would have enjoyed such an authentic experience had we not met him. He gave us a through understanding of the history of the island, which we appreciated. We are planning on bringing some friends to Saint Lucia this fall and will definitively be using Kirk’s services again.

Not knowing quite what to expect we had a fantastic day with Kirk Elliot that was booked via email and Kirk was always quick with his replies. Armed with my new Camera we took a $60 One-hour taxi trip up to Castries from Coconut bay in the South of St Lucia and met him at a local bar. We discussed my experience using a DSLR camera and what skills I would like to develop during the day. My wife was paying great attention and also as an I phone snap shooter she wanted to get as much out of it as possible. We spent some time exploring photography then set off to some various locations to see some wonderful scenery including the harbour, Church and practice our new found knowledge. After a great lunch and a beer, we went on to Marigot bay and the small island to take some photos and get some critique on what we were doing. Kirk also demonstrated the benefits of Flash helping to understand the rules and often less is more. Kirk also followed up on the knowledge he shared with us and sent some valuable pointers when we got home.
Enjoying a great day, we all got carried away and it went on longer than expected. Kirk then very kindly gave us a lift back to our hotel an hour away.
I came away wanting to take a deeper insight, thinking about a picture and get inspired to make my images have some emotion and meaning. If you want to have a great day and take better pictures getting more out of them, Kirk is the man. What a great Guy and a big personality.

I am both humbled and delighted to have been such a significant part of Alan and Cheryl's St Lucia vacation experience. Best of all the photography insights I shared will serve them both over many a subsequent vacation and that for me is truly special...

Kirk was one of the highlights of our visit to St. Lucia. From initially reaching out to him via the Internet, he was a great guide every step of the way. He immediately scheduled a Zoom meeting to discuss my goals. After discussing my ideas, he tasked me with homework (which I gladly completed) and began brainstorming ways to make my vision a reality. He quickly provided an estimate and completely allowed me time to weigh my options. I wholeheartedly chose to work with him.

Once sharing our travel plans, he suggested scheduling the photos at the beginning of our vacation. This was so that we could enjoy the rest of our time without the interruption of photos once we were in the thick of activities. He even volunteered to take my husband and me around town to sample the local cuisine!

Kirk was the consummate professional! He even picked us up from our hotel, so transportation was not an issue. His assistant Natalie was a sweetheart who provided an additional set of eyes for us. To say we were pleased with our photos would be an understatement; and based on the “likes” and comments alone, he did a phenomenal job.

It is my belief that professional vacation photos are the best souvenirs of your travels. If you are looking for someone to help construct and capture images that are not only breathtaking, but photos that visually tell a story- look no further than St. Lucia Photo Tours! You can thank me later.

Just last week, I spent a day with Kirk Elliot on a private photo workshop. Actually, my wife came along as a non photographer. And,actually, it was more than a day. The scheduled day turned out to be rainy all day-not typical in January. Kirk came out to the resort anyway, and he spent over an hour taking care of the classroom type teaching of the class. I have been doing photography for over 50 years, and thought I didn't really need this. He did indeed teach me things, both that day, and the actual photo day, that will improve my photography for the next 50 years.
The photo day was far different than I anticipated. I thought Kirk would just take us to the most photogenic places and tell me where to shoot. In reality, I did not take a lot of photographs, but they were shot through the mental filters he taught me, especially about how my photographs should "tell the story", and chip away the unnecessary "marble" that was hiding the treasure.
Time was not an element-we still spent more than the allotted 6 hours. I believe that Kirk did everything that he could have to enhance my experience, and the way that I will approach my photography in the future. Thank you,Kirk!

What a great time I had with Steve and Kathy on their Private Photo Tour. When Steve first contacted me he was uncertain about a Private Photo Tour vs a Group Photo Tour and in the end his choice to go private saved the day as it allowed us to defer to another day as our original day was gray and rainy. And since I had gone over the theory part of the Photo Tour on the rainy day we had more time to shoot a few days later when we went out. Another big plus was that Kathy came out with us though initially she had not intended to. So she got to see a side of Saint Lucia that can only be seen on the Photo Tour as I strive to share authentic Saint Lucia with my guests rather than the typical packaged touristy attractions So all told it was another great day out and another photographer who has seen the light! :-)

Seeking to move away from “auto mode” on the camera, we booked Kirk’s services for a days instruction. He’s very friendly and skilled at imparting knowledge. He also knows seemingly everyone on the street - so can provide endless subjects to take increasingly interesting photos. By the end of the day, I felt confident in handling the focus, shutter speed and ISO settings and had a much better appreciation of photo composition.

If you want a fun, instructional and lively day - while learning to use to camera more effectively - he’s your man!

Have you ever had the experience of meeting the right person at the right time? That's how I feel about meeting Kirk and his crew.

I met Kirk during my hike up Gros Piton after I fell behind my group during my hike. Kirk, Nevell, & Zea stayed with me during my excursion up and then down the mountain. They made the trip enjoyable & educational. I learned about the history of St. Lucia and the Piton community, all while taking in some breathtaking views. Pictures can capture the beauty of the adventure. Kirk, Nevell, & Zea will make those memories live with me forever. I highly recommend booking an adventure with Kirk! I can't wait to see him when I revisit his beautiful island home!

My husband and I recently did this tour on our honeymoon-my husband as a beginner to intermediate photographer and myself as a non-photographer. I contacted Kirk last minute (2 weeks before our trip) and he got back to me right away via email, setting up a tour on the first day of our visit. I had some hesitations that we may get rained on and it would be an unsuccessful day but Kirk reassured me that he was prepared for rain and if got so bad that we couldn't take any photos at all, we would get a full refund ("I don't see reason for you to suffer twice" he wrote).

We couldn't have asked for a better day! Kirk picked us up at our hotel and from the start of the day until the end (a full 7 hours), he was a fountain of knowledge, both about photography and the Island itself. He provided an in-depth tutorial to my husband about photography (tailored to my husband's level of knowledge) and then took us around to some amazing spots to put into practice what he'd just taught. It was a great day for my husband to enhance his photography skills but also for me as a non-photographer: we saw beautiful sites, learned a lot about St. Lucia, and ate some great local food. Best of all, because we did this tour on our first day, we have amazing photos from the rest of the trip thanks to what we learned!

I highly recommend this tour to photographers of all levels, and non-photographers too. Note that we did other excursions on this trip and while some of the sites from Kirk's tour are visited with other excursions, with Kirk it is more relaxed, and we didn't feel so rushed to move on to the next spot. Also, for non-photographers-wear or bring a bathing suit!

Excellent trip with Kirk, knowledgable and very helpful. Despite the fact that my camera had been on automatic since buying.
I now have the tools and the confidence to try a few things and being able to take the photos I want rather than what the camera thought I wanted. I cannot praise his patience enough. At no point was I patronised or made to feel inadequate as I knew and understood next to nothing. Went to good places to take different sorts of pictures and met some lovely people. All in all a brilliant and informative day!

While I have not been able to post responses as often as I'd like due to how popular this tour seems to be getting and the fact that there are only so many hours in the day, I had to pause and respond to this one. We start the photo tour by asking everyone what kind of pictures do they like to shoot, what do they know about photography and what exactly would they like to learn. Well Wendy was the first participant ever who told me that she knew NOTHING! So I imagined that I had my work cut out for me. Turns out that Wendy has a fantastic eye, but is drawn to a point of view that most other people wouldn't even dare to see ... and this made having her out on the tour really special as I think I might havehelped her to see the beauty in her point of view. Funny - Wendy's review has helped me realize that I get tremendous satisfaction out of helping those who think they are voiceless to find their voice ... or in this instance - someone who thought she hand no point of view find her inner vision. As for me - I came away from that tour feeling that Wendy was truly the superstar of the day - and I feel so even more today having read her review...

We were arriving Christmas day in St. Lucia on the Royal Princess, and were not impressed with the tours focusing mainly on hanging out at the beach, offered by the cruise lines, so I checked out several tours which had great ratings on "tripadvisor" for several of the islands we were visiting.

Kirk’s Photo Tour caught my eye, as I photograph in detail all my travels and make a photo-book of every adventure I do to remember the good times there. Since we were only in St. Lucia for Christmas day, we could convince Kirk to spend most of the day with us.

He met us at the ship just after it arrived, and we were off to a nearby park overlooking the ship in port. He looked over a few of my photo books and while I have good knowledge of the features of my camera, he gave a very simple but easy to understand review of getting off the Automatic setting and using some of the camera’s features like Setting Shutter Speed, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and depth of field. He also covered composing the perfect picture, using Polarizing filters, when to use your flash during the day, and most important, how to engage with locals.

Kirk keeps it simple for even the most advanced or novice photographer, but reviews great points to remind those of us whom too often go back to the automatic settings more than we should. Kirk has an excellent knowledge of photography but keeps things interesting for our family members whom leave the camera work to us. He had my wife, who will not even use the camera on her iPhone, spotting interesting subjects I should photograph from the very first stop. After this initial stop, we were off to see the sights and practice the photography principals Kirk had just covered.
Everywhere we went, someone knew Kirk, so we had an opportunity to engage with many locals. Kirk discussed techniques to engage locals such as how to get them into the photo, insuring more than just landscape photo’s when you get back home.
We visited several great observation points on the island where we took 100’s magnificent photos and then had Kirk curtail them and give us his views on what we captured and what we missed at many of the stops we made.

Kirk got us right up to some of the top resorts to capture some of the breathtaking views reserved usually only for their high paying guest. We took a small ferry to an island where we had some refreshments and soaked up more of the local culture of St. Lucia. Kirk packed a few more stops into our time in St. Lucia, as we opted to skip lunch since it was Christmas day and most of the good places to eat were closed.

Too often on ships tours, 90 percent of your photos are from a moving bus window, but Kirk’s Photo Tour stopped every 5 minutes or so, for as long as we needed. Some stops were just a few minutes and some were one half hour or longer. There were no long walks as we were dropped off and picked up right at the various stops.
Kirk’s tour is a fantastic way for a photographer using a Digital SLR camera to sharpen their skills and use the features of their camera and for our family’s to still have an enjoyable and personally guided tour of the great sites of St. Lucia. Kirk listens to what you say and since he quickly learned I did more editing with Light Room and Photoshop after the fact, he brought to my attention ways to get more in the initial shot to reduce time correcting the photo’s after the trip.

Kirk is extremely knowledgeable, easy to engage, extremely accommodating and very personable. He knows how to get to the best spots for photography and sightseeing in St. Lucia. This tour is designed first for the amateur photographer who wants to expand their knowledge of Digital Photography, but also addresses the interest of the non-photographer family members. If this is where your interests are, you cannot go wrong with Kirk’s Photo Tour of St. Lucia. I do not usually write up many reviews unless they are unforgettable, and this one defiantly is. I would highly recommend Kirk and his team for a unforgettable day in St. Lucia.

Wow - What a comprehensive review. Bill you mean we covered all of that - and on Christmas Day to boot! It was a great day out and my greatest reward is when Photo Tour participants and their non-Photographer guests come away with an experience they will remember for a lifetime...
