If you stay at Coconut Bay Beach resort and have an interest in excursions, I can tell you about two we did. Just book them right at the concierge desk. We loved the horse back riding on the beach. Yanik and Mattew took great care of us. It's about an hour excursion. They were very pleasant and were more than... More

Vieux Fort is a unspoiled fishing town with a busy main street. A little bit chaotic and it had an atmosphere that usualy hangs around border towns, which is not very appealing.

Since it's on the windward side of the island the breeze was a bit strong but it also helped keep you cool. The staff was amazingly friendly, the food was very good, the drinks didn't stop flowing (make sure to see Dillon (sp?) at the adults only bar), and hanging out with the other guests made this little slice of... I give Vieux Fort top marks because when you need to get away from the hassle of Castries then this is the area to be trust me. Old unchanged/unspoilt town and where the international airport is before your long drive up north to tourist town of Castries. Have a stroll down Clarke Street - shopping centre, food, banks, car hire,... More

The closest town to the hotel (Coconut Bay) and frankly the waste of a walk / bus fare. This is a beautiful island but the town is what the Caribbean must have been like 40 years ago - completely undeveloped and ill equipped for tourists. we often venture off resort and spend time and money in the local shops -... This little town is not crowded by tourists. The people are very friendly. Go there when the fishermen come back from the sea and then you can see all the different kind of fish the caught that day on the fishmarket close to the Harbour. Maybe you´ll buy some fish there. They will tell you how to fix it

Great place to hike and walk. Beautiful views from several walking paths around to fort. It is on the other side of the island from where you come in on a cruise ship, so you will have to take some transportation.

Hobie Shop and downtown barber - excellent. All else is lacking. Very safe to walk to. Locals went out of their way to ask us if we needed help. Saw local race horses, race track, baby goats, etc.
