- Kimberley GArlington, Texas67 contributionsNice beach close to cruise pierI went to this beach today. Lots of clouds mixed with sun which I think is pretty normal for St. Lucia. The cab is now $15 one way for two people. They want you to pay ahead of time for pick up but we just took the guys phone number and had the beach people call him when we were ready to return to the ship. Where they drop you off at chairs by restaurant, they are on a steep incline and under trees and $10 per piece. We walked down the beach to the sunny flat part and got chairs for $5 each. The waves were big and I didn’t get in, but it was really pretty and relaxing! $1 to have them unlock the bathroom by the restaurant. They are clean. In my opinion, it is too far to walk from port because you have to walk around the gated area of the runway at the airport.Visited December 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten December 13, 2023
- PixsiePLondon, United Kingdom144 contributionsWalking distance from Castries - pretty beachWe are staying at Bel Jou Hotel, Castries and found ourselves at Vigie beach having gone for a wonder. It's not that far to walk from the hotel, though very hilly in parts. We walked around the airport and through the cemetery, straight onto a secluded part of the beach. The only person we saw was a friendly chap with coconuts. Lots of shade to get comfy in as well. As we were in a non touristy part there were no sun loungers or food places, walk down the beach for those.Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten January 30, 2024
- retireeVancouverVancouver, Canada1,828 contributionsAccessible clean, soft white sand beach within walking distance from Point Seraphine harbor.Vigie Beach surprised me. It was a very nice, quiet beach, at noon mid-week, with a very long stretch of lovely soft white sand. The water gently drifted to the shoreline and the drop off was further out. Although visitors can spread a towel around the shady trees anywhere, there are loungers available at the far left of the beach where there is a cafe, WC. Blue mesh loungers weren't the cleanest looking, probably $2 for $25, but I didn't inquire. Cruisers could walk 30 mnutes to the beach from the Pointe Seraphine harbor, but start in the morning for this walk as the streets are unshaded, particularly hot in the port area to the road parallel to the airport runway. Of course, taxis are available at the dock. I could spend a good part of the day at this beach on my next visit to Castries and not spend much money doing so.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 28, 2024
- Valerie43605Surrey, United Kingdom4 contributionsAn Amazing Day at Vigie Beach 🥰👌On our Caribbean cruise we docked in Castries, St Lucia, and decided not to take an organised tour, but took a taxi with Abbot’s Taxi Service in the port, to Vigie Beach and had the most wonderful day. On arrival at the beach, we were met by a friendly young man, whose mother owned the Beach Bar I think and he immediately organised our beds and umbrella and said that he would organise our taxi back to port when we wanted to go. He recommended his mother’s rum punches, which was a great recommendation as they were the best rum punches of the trip!, The beach was beautiful and Daggery was giving horse rides with his lovely horse, Star. My girlfriend was interested in a ride and Daggery took her out to sea a little where she swam holding onto Star’s mane and as she she came into shore, she mounted Star, with Daggery’s help, and rode onto the beach. She said it was one of the best experiences of her life for a very nominal price. A day to certainly to be remembered and probably at half of the price of an excursion. Big thanks to Daggery, Star and the wonderful staff at Vigie Beach!! Also to Abbott’s Taxi Services.Visited February 2024Traveled with friendsWritten March 12, 2024
- Jo&RickRotherham, United Kingdom151 contributionsNice local authentic beach, lovely viewWe had 2 visits to Vigie beach on our recent 2week holiday. Our hotel bel jou had a shuttle bus running here 5 days a week and we had our own section of beach. Loungers were tired but there were plenty of them. No parasols which does need addressing as the sun is so hot however many took shade under the large tree if it got too hot. Lovely sand, clear sea, local food and drinks on offer both on the beach and close by with toilet facilities as well.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 2, 2024

- oggymuncherPlymouth, United Kingdom604 contributionsLife's a beachEasy access and parking to this large stunning beach . There are a few bars and cafes on the beach , toilets are a two dollers a go. The food i the cafés looked good but we didn't eat just had a beer. The beach is easy access and just outside the capital Castries, it is next to a small airport but no jets just turbo props so not too noisey and not many flights, we saw three in two hours. There's a local cemetery that runs along the back of the beach but its dead quiet.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 17, 2024
- A.W.GAmsterdam, The Netherlands118 contributionsUnfortunately became more unsafeOur family lives on the Vigie peninsula. Visited the beach over the last 30 years. It is more or less “the beach in our backyard” This last visit surprised me, because my family wouldn’t let me visit the beach on my own. Something i have been doing for years. They build a new side walk that connects the beach with the cemetery, and is now more accessible for pedestrians. My family warned me that now that the beach is better to reach, more dubious people come there. In the past it wasn’t really issue, the beach was only more for the locals. And you could, more and less only reach the beach by car. The beach is kept rather clean, school children within an environmental program keep it tidy. The beach is nice, and you have some small food and drink options. But the fact that my own Saint Lucian family won’t let me visit the beach alone, says enough about safety and uneasy feelings of a once rather nice kept beach. Fore the love of this beautiful beach and my past experiences, i give a higher rating. But unfortunately of what it has become, i advise you not to venture to Vigie alone.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten July 11, 2024

So chilled yet again spoilt on the beach if your a Bel jou hotel guest you arrive near the rest station to be met by the hotel rep who takes your name and you get a sunbed she also has refreshments but like said the rest station is near with again food and drinks. If you want to explore the beach then the rep will look after your bags . When we arrived there was volunteers picking rubbish of the beach this is brought by ignorant people just dropping it come on clear your mess up keep a beautiful beach. On one of our visits we witnessed a cruise ship passengers arriving for there 1hour stay oh my goodness what a mess they left so sad come on people please its a great beachVisited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 11, 2024

As you walk out of the port terminal there are taxis waiting. They'll ask $15 to take you to the beach. Just walk a 100 yards to the end of the dock and you'll only pay $5. Well worth a visit, long clean sandy beach and not too crowded. Bit of a novelty, next to airport runway and a cemetery.

We used the beach as our hotel (bel jou hotel)provides a shuttle bus to the beach . On arrival you are met by a local who provides you with a sun bed and takes your name an room number. There is a rest station near to where we get dropped of provides food an drinks at reasonable cost. The beach slopes into the sea so watch your footing but it's beautiful to be in . If you want to walk the beach you can as your gear will be looked after safety all in all great beach to chill and swim

This is a wonderful beach, not far from the cruise ship terminal, as the crow flies. You have to take a cab there as it is on the other side of the local airport which certainly adds to the actual distance getting there but it is well worth the visit. There are NO CROWDS. There are beach lounges available but remember to bring an American dollar to use the washroom facilities.

Beautiful extensive sandy beach on the Caribbean Sea. Very safe for swimming (weather dependent).
Nice and quiet.
We did not use the cafes as we were staying all inclusive at the Bel Jou Hotel and had a free mini bus service down to the beach and back. Sunbeds were provided free to Bel Jou residents.
We did not visit the beach until the last day of our stay and wished we had visited earlier.

We took a cab to Vigie Beach and ended up in Miguel's area of the beach. He was very helpful in moving the chairs where we needed them to be and to help us learn about life on the island. He has a small operation, but works hard to keep the area clean and tidy. There was some broken glass and trash to be aware of, but it was not excessive. On the day we were there the undertow was very strong and the sea was rough. If you have anyone in your party that has physical limitations, I would caution you about getting in the water. There was a steep drop off and with the tough sea and undertow, some in our party had a difficult time getting out of the ocean. Migual helped call our taxi when we were ready to leave and waited with us until they arrived. I appreciated that the beach was not crowded and that there were no vendors.

Walked down from a house we were renting but there would be plenty of parking for those who drive. Rented two chairs and an umbrella for $25usd. Got rum punch and a piton beer the walk up bar/restaurant. They also had plates of local food and saw many locals eating there. Vendors were around but none approached us. Water was great. No rocks. Slight waves.

30 minute walk from cruise port in pretty much a straight line around the airport or $5 each taxi. Couple of bars. Only thing I didn't like was a guy walking up and down the beach with a horse riding it hitting it with a stick trying to get tourists to come take a picture.

Walking from the cruise terminal, Pointe Seraphine, google maps says is 23 minutes. This walk is on sidewalks along roads and is unshaded so I would suggest an early morning walk rather than a walk around mid-day.
I enjoyed Vigie Beach. It was near enough to the cruise terminal our ship was docked at that one didn't have to take a taxi going to and from the beach. I liked the soft white sand, enough shade from the trees along the beach that one didn't have to rent a blue mesh lounger (2 for $25), and a gradual sweep of water to the shoreline. At mid-day mid-week there were very few people at the beach, not even locals. I suggest you take along 2 beach towels - one to sit on or put onto the lounger and another beach towel to dry off with.

How easy to walk from the cruise port and easy to find
Written November 10, 2023
It's quite easy as far as I remember from the cruise site it's about a 20 minute walk to the beach very straight forward you should come into the rendezvous Hotel area good chill place. Alternatively get a taxi ordered from the ship agree a price for drop off and pick up it's safe to walk to just tell anyone who comes up to you you not interested hope helps enjoy

Yes. Because you have to pay $1 to get in, they're very clean, and have as much running water as you need to get sand out of your gear. They are part of the section of shops and amenities right on the water's edge.
