We came to Saint Lucia for the sunshine of course, escaping cold and dull weather in the UK. But we are also always looking for some nice trails to hike or run when we are on holiday. Having done the gros Piton, which was great, we were looking for other options and the mount Gimie hike, a hike to the... More

I was going to write a thorough review but honestly ripharwood is 100% spot on with his advice. To summarize: there's a misconception about Mt. Gimie that it's just a long walk. This is completely false as there are steep climbs, steep drop-offs and a ton of mud (during the rainy season). Don't let that dissuade you though, as the... More

Mount Gimie! I did this climb December 13th , 2013 and I didn't know what I was in for. Climbing down a steep hill, to crossing a river, walking up and down in nature and after an hour and a half we finally hit the base of the mountain, then all uphill from then. It was an amazing experience but... More

We had a fabulous hike up Mt. Gimie over Christmas break. It's the highest point in the West Indies, about a 6 or 7 hr hike in total- rigorous, incredibly lush with a view of the entire island from the top. There's also a refreshing waterfall waiting for you toward the end- so plan to go for a dip. It... More

On January 24, 2012, six colleagues and I, together with two guides, climbed Mount Gimie, the highest point in St Lucia. This is not a near vertical climb like the Petit Piton. It is not a moderate walk like the Gros Piton. It is a long and arduous hike. The weather is important. The summit can be misty and cold.... More

Make no mistake about it, this is one tough hike. The hiking guide to the Caribbean that I used lumped this in with a nature preserve trail in the same area and rated both collectively a 2-3 on a scale of 5. That was extremely misleading. Mt. Gimie is 5 out of 5 for steepness, elevation gain, terrain, and potential... More
