- Eric B16 contributionsOne of the most beautiful beaches in Martinique.Magnificent beach. From the shade of the coconut trees to the scorching rays of the sun, you will have the choice of your cooking. Clear water and white sand, happy swimming. Only problem. Parking and traffic, like any treasure, the place is popular.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 27, 2024
- DominiqueV63530Clermont-Ferrand, France370 contributionsVery beautiful beach in MartinqueVery beautiful beach in Martinique with white sand, transparent sea and leaning palm trees. There were already people there outside of school holidays so I suspect that it must be crowded during these last ones. Parking spaces are very popular as are places to put your towel in the shade, but given the length of this beautiful beach, everyone will find what they are looking for.Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 30, 2024
- Marjolène P30 contributionsGorgeousThe most beautiful and large beach 😁 We loved going there and swimming there. The water is very beautiful, it is ideal for families. Easy to access and but be careful it is quite busy. There is the possibility of eating on site and there are also some souvenir sellers.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 5, 2024
- CooketteVelizy-Villacoublay, France92 contributionsMagnificent salines beachWonderful sandy beach You can swim in the crystal clear waters of Martinique. You can shelter from the sun under the shade of coconut trees. Possibility to rent deckchairs We were there in low season (end of May) so barely ten people. There are small restaurants offering lots of Creole specialties. Very very niceVisited May 2024Traveled with friendsWritten May 31, 2024
- Alexandre DParis, France24 contributionsThe postcardPostcard decor: palm trees, blond sand and turquoise water. Not the most authentic of beaches but one of the widest and most pleasant. Plan to arrive early if possible to enjoy before it gets too busy. Do not hesitate to sit on the terrace to drink coffee or fruit juice on the waterfront.Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 29, 2024
- Charlotte S4 contributionsParadise on EarthImmediate favorite for this piece of paradise on earth! Huge beach bounded by coconut trees, possibility to eat on site and rent sunbeds at very reasonable prices. And this comfort does not detract from the natural side of the place. Parking rather easy. Turquoise water and white sand as far as the eye can see. I am conqueredVisited December 2024Traveled soloWritten December 5, 2024

Beautiful beach an hour's drive from cruise terminal. As our ship was one of four in port thought it would be good to get away from the crowds. So pleased we did. Beach is beautiful with sunbeds for hire, food & drink options. Sea very calm and safe. Highly recommend a visit we paid US $50 per person for the return trip.

Nice and long beach, white sand with lot of services ( restaurants / shops / etc.)
It is worth to stay until sunset, because beach is less crowded and view is beautiful.
Cons
- as in most beaches in Martinique people park their car everywhere, so later in the afternoon you might have troubles to find a proper parking spot or it will be far from the beach
- beach is very nice but for me not the most beautiful one :)
- two people were attacked by Jellyfish so just be careful ( but it was not serious :)

Our favorite. Small, intimate beach. We arrived early (before 8am) and until 12pm the beach was quite sparse. Bonus from traders on the beach with massage, hairdresser, souvenirs. My daughter loved her pigtails and braids for €40. The water is beautiful and the beach very clean.

Beautiful beach but very poorly maintained, no toilets worthy of this no, very rare trash cans and all overflowing. With an unemployment rate of 27% in your town, Mr. Mayor, you could surely hire people to clean the beach and its surroundings. invest in improving parking lots and sanitary facilities, even if it means charging users a few euros.

For us, this is the most beautiful beach in Martinique. White sand, incredible turquoise warm clean Caribbean sea, shades of palm trees... You can park your car right next to the beach. There are some restaurants, souvenir and ice-cream sellers. Don't forget to visit the beautiful wooden walkway above the salty pond Étang des Salines. It depends on the season, the day of the week and day time, whether the beach is bit crowdy or not. Of course, it is very popular but I don't feel like it's overcrowded there. You can see in the pictures attached. The beach is natural but you can find one or two picnic tables among the trees. We also enjoyed the sunset and saw the green flash at the sunset. You can see Diamond Rock (some 45 km) from the beach Les Salines. This is definitely one of our most favourite places in Martinique.

Magnificent beach
You have to go there early in the morning (8:30 a.m.) to have places in the shade to store the car and put down the towels.
Small shops, very good syssy restaurant and the service is fast
The little ice cream seller is superb and the ice creams are excellent

Had to see it but would not returned. We had a great meal with amazing service at the restaurant “Le panier à salade”. The beach is beautiful but really crowded. Hard to find shade even if the beach is lined with trees because each inches of shade is taken. Arrive early!

What a lovely beach this is. We were impressed when we first saw it and remain impressed now. Everyone was really friendly. The chap who rented our beds to us was great. He even supplied cheap coconuts to drink from and afterwards chopped them so as we could eat the flesh. Great.

Please let me know what is the best traffic option to visit Plage des Salines when starting from cruise terminal in Fort de France?

How far was the taxi ride from the cruise port. Thank you
Written October 20, 2018
Probably to long. I would guess it takes between 45-75 min to go there from FDF.

Hello, I am doing some research and I am wondering if this is the same beach as Grand Anse des Salines? Are there rental amenities available? Chairs/umbrellas/cocktails/food? Also does anybody know the approximate taxi ride time from the cruise port in fort de France? And The approximate price of said taxi? Another poster had said it was $250. That seems excessive I was hoping it was a typo... Alas are there any shells on the beach? And does anybody know the best beach in Martinique for shelling?

This is the same beach as grande anse des salines. There are a few restaurants, shops, and possibly a place for chair rentals. The taxi estimate is probably high, but I'm not sure by how much. Taxis are very expensive in Martinique. on the flip side, car rentals are about 25 euro / day. Driving is a little crazy, but it's a fun island to drive as well.

Muchas Gracias
Natalia

Hello Natalia
I am not sure if I understood your question properly. Taxis are very expensive on the Island. If you are able to drive, it is far cheaper to rent a car to explore the island. Best regards, Adrian

Es conveniente alquilar un auto desde el puerto donde aparcan los cruceros para llegar hasta esta playa.?
Written January 9, 2017
Yes, it is the best thing to hire a car when you visit the island. It is not too expensive, the roads and the signalisation are good. Sorry for the late answer.

Hi, I see that several people have found Salines Beach to NOTbe the most desirable
beach on Martinique. My ideal beach would be long calm waters with snorkling and
a place to go to the bathroom. Of course will have a rental car. I would love to know
which are the beaches that are better than Salines Beach? I appreciate your reply
