Located at the far western end of Puerto Rico, this narrow beach gets high ratings for diving the offshore reef in 10 to 30 feet of water, which features sloping valleys and huge coral.

The last review made in January 2018 talked about reaching the beach by boat but it doesn’t mention that the road to get there is closed since September 2017 after hurricane Maria. We were there in 2017 and it is just so lovely and as...More

If you are staying in Vieques, I do recommend this beach for snorkeling. It is remote for a car to get to. It is also challenging for families with children or cautious swimmers because there are dangerously spiny sea urchins near the beach so getting...More

Amazing. We were the only ones at the beach. Very quite area. There is a small reef. Easy location kids to go snorkeling. Just make sure they don't touch the reef.

We loved this beach. It was a little difficult to find, but worth the effort. We found lots of beach glass. The view was beautiful and we had a great time swimming and snorkeling.

My family of four just returned from a week in Vieques, PR. We snorkeled every day while on the island. Green Beach (Punta Arenas) is a great spot to begin learning to snorkel. It is a rough muddy road to get there but a beautiful...More

Untouched beach, if you are looking to relax and enjoy a tranquil water this is the place. Pack food and drinks, no need for an umbrella, plenty of trees for shade. A hidden gem!

Vieques has a number of beaches to choose from, but Green Beach has been our favorite since 2004. You will need a Jeep to get to most of the beaches including this one. Please do not leave anything valuable in the Jeep - there is...More

Vieques has no shortage of great beaches, and Green Beach is no exception. Great for lazing on the beach and swimming. Snorkeling is good, but the biting flies will tear you up, even with bug repellent.

Punta Arenas or Green Beach is at the western most end of the island. It's a bit of a drive over some rough roads but definitely worth the trip. SUV'S no problem, may be difficult with a low vehicle/car. Take Route 200 past Mosquito Pier...More

Trip Reporto July 1-9 (4 Replies)
Brief trip report July 1-9 This was my 6th time to VQS going back to 1990 and it was one of the best. It was a large group of college buds, wives and kids. My highlights: We did Esperanza Riding Company tour and it was great...highly recommend it if you are an experienced horsey-person or total noob like me. 2 hour tour thru hills, a dry riverbed, a bit thru town and 2 beaches...awesome. On the 4th of July I arranged for Waldo (the Paella Master!) to cook seafood paella for our group at...More

Mid-April Vieques Trip Report- part 6-long (3 Replies)
Part 6 Sunday morning, we decide to try out the Snorkeling at Green Beach. We drove all the way to the Y, took a left and went almost to the end (if you get to the gate barrier you obviously went too far) Park at the last turnoff to the right-you can see the beach from there. Set up our stuff on the beach-cooler & chairs. We are careful to find a route into the water that will not damage coral- just look- you’ll find one. If you need to, walk to your right-as you face the ocean- for a...More

The island is as wonderful as ever. This our third visit so I won't bore you with all the details, just a couple of notes as too what we enjoyed and didn't. Once again we stayed at Aborabor Suites on Bastimento (Purple) Beach. The navio suite is perfect for two people and right on the water. It's not fancy but very comfortable and clean. Great beach that goes on for miles. Best breakfast- sandwiches at the hut across from the ferry or pastries at the Viequenese Deli near the square. ...More
