A relaxing day on the beach with decent snorkeling

We enjoyed snorkeling around the islet just off the coast. Like many places in the Caribbean the sea grass in encroaching on the coral but we still saw quite a bit of fish. The sand and the shells were a delight for the kids. There are a number of thorns stuck in the sand (at least at this time of... More

Great beach! Very shadow waters. Water is clear and warm. No food establishments nearby, so pack food and please don't liter. 15 minute drive from the W hotel. Highly recommended and a must see.

Even on an overcast day...this beach is beautiful! The kids had fun snorkeling...and going out to the perimeter of the island. This whole area is stunning!

This beach is also called La Chiva - and we liked it the best. It's inside the Vieques National Wildlife Refuge, farther in than Caracas Beach. You have to go to the end of the paved road and onto dirt roads to get there. There are a number of parking areas which are just little offshoots that hold 2, maybe... More

We were excited to see this beach after seeing Caracas, however it was very dirty and had lots of seaweed (yes it's the season but Caracas didn't have it). Not to mention the whole needing to watch out for possible explosives on the beach... Lots of potential but not even close to being the best.

Amazing, stunning beach with cool crystal clear water. Easy access. We chose #10 access and found a palm tree to sit next to and had our privacy for most of the day. Now huge surf and a small reef to snorkel. Shallow for a long ways. Great for kids! Loved it!

This beach is one of the best places Vieques has to offer. Doesn't have a lot of shade or bathrooms but the view and the water are spectacular. It's now called la Chiva

Picture perfect beach for everyone! Dont miss this beach. Come for sunset or something and not during the day as it gets too hot!

The beach is absolutely beautiful but do not take any valuables with you. When we arrived we ran into a couple that just had their knapsack stolen. The beach was the absolute best of all of the beaches. Some locals are desperate, very poor on the island and they know exactly where to go to grab tourists things. They only... More

We went here 2 years ago, and I saw a few fish but very sporadic. This year, I snorkeled out to the island and was rewarded with seeing starfish, a sea turtle, schools of snapper, and a sting ray.
