Had a great tour of the bioluminescent bay with 2 kids. They are the only operator I know of which operates an electric boat tour of the bioluminescent bay in Vieques. I booked through their website and communication was very prompt and they provided all details clearly via email. The tour guide was well informed of all the details about the bay as well as the stars. They kept the kids also entertained. Overall, a great experience not to be missed. We had booked a taxi through 741 TAXI (avoid them if you can), for us to be dropped at the ferry dock after our tour was done. The taxi company flaked on us and we were left in the lurch as it was the last ferry out of the island. Seeing our plight, the tour operator and the owner of the tour company dropped our family at the ferry in the nick of time (a good 15 minute ride) . They didn’t accept any money as well for the drop off. They went above and beyond their responsibility and helped our family when there was nobody else to help. 5 stars to them ! Will definitely recommend this tour to anybody traveling with small children or seniors. On a related note, if you are taking the ferry out of the island after the tour, please have a backup option ready in case your taxi operator cancels.

We selected this company because they offer tours of the bio bay by electric boat and not kayak, which was the biggest deciding factor for me. They are the only company that offers electric boat tours. Our guides, Michael and Israel were amazing. They were very knowledgeable about Mosquito Bay ( named after the pirate ship not the bloodsucking insects). They had a laser that would go really far and they could point out far away islands and stars. The bio bay itself was unbelievable. Be warned, the online photos are EXTREMELY enhanced and appear bluish due to specialized camera equipment needed to photograph these amazing dinoflagellates. In reality is it more of a fluorescent green/ yellow color (think fireflies).Nevertheless it was still an unbelievable experience. The tour lasted for an hour which is plenty of time. The boat is very safe with railings and the water is extremely calm due to being protected by reefs and mangroves. They even provide a log plastic stick so you can swish the water around and see it glow. We were picked up at the El Blok hotel and transported to the bay in a van right on time. The road is muddy, full of potholes and dark. This is on purpose to prevent too many people from going to the bay and risking the health of these microscopic creatures. All the kayakers as well as the boat crew were very respectful of the water and the mangroves that help this bio bay exist. It was clear that they loved this place and not just because their livelihood depended on it. Nat Geo monitors the health of this bay since it is the brightest in the world. Overall, I would highly recommend this tour. Go on nights on or near a new moon for best viewing. A must do bucket list item.

Started off with a rocky ride down a natural beach trail, part of the charm of maintaining the bay and keeping away outsiders. Eventually led to an electric boat which inxluded some comical and very knowledable guides. The bay was beautiful. The guides were able to describe all the local flora and fauna, even some tidbits about constellations and the night sky. Learned about some interesting marine biology programs as well and scientific research being conducted at the bay. All in a great experience that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Vieques.

Really good experience, the captain and the tour guide know about the bay, constellations, history and other extras. Both the young and the teens enjoyed a lot.

Our tour of Mosquito Bay (named for the pirate ship, not the insect) was one of the highlights of our trip. Not only are there very few of these bioluminescent bays in the world, but this one is the brightest of them all. The hurricanes had wiped out the microscopic creatures that create the effect, but they are back in huge numbers now. El Viequense Sea Tours was great as a guide service. Not only are they the only company I found that uses electric boats (instead of kayaks, which my wife didn't want to do), but they were very professional, friendly, and informative. They even told us jokes while we were out on the water. Highly recommended.
