Such a beautiful beach! Great for swimming. There were small silver fish that got nippy though, but it just provided us with laughs! Make sure you bring a cooler, as there is no drinking water out there!
Beautiful beach! There was some algae when we visited but it was still pretty clear and clean. It wasn’t super crowded but it was lively as others have mentioned. A couple groups with music having fun! A must go if you’re on Vieques!
Caracas is the party beach- a great big expanse of sand with great views and perfect for swimming. Draws both tourists and locals and there’s usually big groups bbqing or partying. If you are looking for a festive atmosphere this is the place. If you...More
We parked in the lot and found a great space to the far right side of the beach where it meets the rocks. The waves on that end seemed to be bigger and the perfect size for body surfing and boogie boarding. Quiet and beautiful,...More
We were recommended this beach by our hosts. It is a white sand clear water beach. There are some picnic tables under covered roofs for some shade. We spent a great day there and it wasn’t crowded which we loved. A little tricky to find....More
There ARE primitive outhouses as of June when I was there. They were out of toilet paper and a bit ripe smelling however if you gotta you gotta! Better than finding some bushes. This is a remote and primitive area! Caracas... More
There ARE primitive outhouses as of June when I was there. They were out of toilet paper and a bit ripe smelling however if you gotta you gotta! Better than finding some bushes. This is a remote and primitive area! Caracas Beach is more developed than most too. Carry your own TP and plan to go natural... SunBay has flushers! FYI.
We are planning to take the 9:00 am ferry from Fajardo to reach Vieques on a Thursday in April and return back the next day by the 6:00 am ferry. We are planning to do the bio bay tour in the evening and will be staying at the guest house in Esperanza. We are also interested in visiting the Caracas beach. As we will be leaving the island so early, we do not want to rent a car. Any idea how much would a taxi charge for taking us from the guest house to the beach or showing us around the island?

not really sure of taxi prices but maybe $20 from Esperanza to red beach. that info may turn up f you search this forum. you can check out the online version of the VIEQUES INSIDER magazine. it has a lot of useful information including taxi info. too bad you have to leave early the next day.
Trip Report: Honeymoon, 7/3/13-7/9/13 (4 Replies)
I am so grateful to everyone on tripadvisor.com for all their help planning our trip, so I wanted to be sure to share a report on how everything went! Itinerary: 7/3/13-7/6/13 (Vieques) * Day 1: Landed in San Juan, took taxi (12 minutes) to SIG airport. Took puddle-jumper to Vieques (25 minutes). We stayed in the Villa Venti Lofts (120/night). AMAZING. We ate dinner our first night at Conuco; it was the best meal of our entire trip. Get the lobster mofongo and cod fritters! * Day 2: We...More

Trip Report - Eight Great Days in Vieques (3 Replies)
We recently returned from eight great days in Vieques (at the end of May), and I thought I should give back to this forum, since I used a lot of information from it to plan our trip. We were an extended family of five, with two eighteen year-olds and one 20 year old in addition to my wife and I, and I think everyone had a great time. I've broken my report into topics (rather than days) so you can find the topics you are most interested in: Travel to and from Vieques: Although there has...More

Great trip report, so glad you got to go our with Jorge...he's great. And you made it out to Green beach and even saw a turtle...super. The little mechanical snafu you had with the bio-bay is "par for the course" and just adds more colour to the whole experience. I remember our trip out to the bio-bay in Island Adventures school bus...what a hoot. Thanx for sharing and now that your a veteran, don't forget to check in here and help other newbies as they arrive. Curt
