My first impression was very bad. The employee who sold the tickets gave the impression that he was having a bad day. It was written all over his face, way of talking and body language. It was a chronicle of a foretold death. The zoo entrance employees were a little better but the worst part of all was the careless... More

My family of 4 children, ages 17, 12, 6, 5 year old and husband visited the zoo. Nice drive to zoo. Great food truck pizza called primo pizza after you visit the zoo. I recommend remembering you are in the carribbean. The zoo had diverse animals and a beautiful butterfly exhibit. The enclosures are not like the states. They could... More

This Zoo is Small but with a good selection of animals. Lots of peacocks roaming around, so watch your steps because there is droppings everywhere. Lack of clean facilities.

I am from Puerto Rico, and the Mayagüez zoo is really close to me. I have been there on several occasions, the last one being this past week. What is really frustrating about the people that visit the zoo, both local and turists is that they instantaneously compare it to other zoos with much more budget and resources. They compare... It has habitats for animals very similar to their natural places. A lake for ducks to swin in makes it look natural and peaceful. It has all types of animals whether mamals, reptiles, birds, butterflies and cuadrupeds just to name a few. Some cages have earphones with recordings to inform you of the animals information. Uphill and downhill stroll to... More

Let me start off my saying that if you are looking for a really nice zoo with large enclosures, you are not going to find one on this island. I think that this zoo was a good size and there are lots of different types of animals. If you have children, I'm sure that they would enjoy it. I had... More

Though not like NY zoo, it offers a good option for fun and education, including the butterfly area.
