Honestly, looks like any other statue in the "new world". It's in good condition. The plaza it's in is so sketchy, I wouldn't spend too much time hanging around there.

This statue stands high in the middle of the Plaza. The fountain has color lights creating rainbows on the water when it shoots up. Beautiful!

Came across this statue on are way to Castillo San Cristobal. After spending two weeks in the Caribbean, you find out the real truth behind Christopher Columbus and what was supposedly done in the name of Christ. I personally think its a tragedy to now know the truth behind the conquests of the Caribbean. And I am quite sure, Columbus... More

This statue is set in the middle of Colon Plaza in Mayaguez. There are many statues dedicated to Christopher Columbus in Puerto Rico. The mix of marble and bronze are beautiful. As we look back on history, we find that Columbus was an unsavory character, but still responsible for the what we now know as Latin America, the good and... More

This area is in the old down town of Mayaguez. Their is a lot of shopping in the area and also a party area on the weekends for the college scene which is near. During the holidays like Christmas the area gets really decorated and looks impressive and is my favorite time to go.

Great place to visit and experience the culture of Western Puerto Rico! Right in the middle of downtown. We attended a free concert there one night.

Definitely a must for a photo op. I think people tend to forget the historical significance and architecture of PR. Downtown Mayaguez have some very beautiful architecture. Bring your camera and smile.

A must see as the testament of the puertorican Spanish heritage. The statue and the plaza along with the city hall and the cathedral that sound the plaza are a must see. Even as not been the original after been remolded few times you can still see the Spanish architectural influence. At Christmas time the extravagant display of lights are... More
