Captain Luis Burgos took my wife and I on an incredible fishing trip! We were very impressed with how much work he put in to make sure we had the best trip possible. Prior to us showing up at 6am he had already dropped bait at the fishing spots we were going to to give us the best chances when we sailed out. Captain Luis took us to several locations and when the fish weren't biting, he was quick to take us to a new location where we'd have better luck. Luis was a great teacher, he made sure to explain things as we went and helped me improve my casting skills, etc. We ended up hooking three huge fish - a barracuda, a yellow jack and an African pompano! Fishing with Luis was one of the best parts of our trip and we'd highly recommend him to anyone.

Spent my three year anniversary with my wife in Puerto Rico. I have to say fishing in San Juan was our favorite experience while being there. Luis was an incredible guide and an expert fisherman. We caught everything we wanted to catch and even a few extra species of fish we didn’t expect. Highly recommend this to be added to anybody’s itinerary while visiting PR! Thanks again guys!

I told them when booking I wanted to fish “live bait” and they said that’s what they do. They provided no surface lures or any kind of bait whatsoever. They didn’t allow us to cast or fish the entire trip. They trolled the same 2 small rusty lures at the wrong speed the entire trip. Although I was promised a live bait trip, there was no bait of any kind. The “guide” told us a story of a tourist spitting on a retailer and demonstrated graphically how he would kick and beat the tourist had it happened to him. He also told us if he doesn’t like customers, he refuses to fish. I asked why he was trolling so fast and he blew me off. That was the last question I asked the entire trip. We were afraid to set off his unstable personality. We expected to have rods reels and bait provided so we could cast into mangroves for tarpon since that was what was advertised. He only provided us with water which was appreciated, on our long pitiful boat ride. Beware

First off Capt. Frankie was a super nice host and tour guide. We really enjoyed getting the local perspective on current events and some history. Boat & gear were all top notch, very organized and clean. The only bummer of the trip was his struggle to catch bait. I understand it happens but it counted towards our 4 hours and we lost over an hour to trying to get bait. You could see the tarpon jumping all morning. Once we finally got some bait we hooked into and I landed a decent one but you could see the tarpon jumping stop as the morning went on. My wife and daughters never got to catch anything. It would be nice if they spent an hour or so before you got there gathering bait so you can just fish. He offered to give up trying to catch bait and use artificial lures but he said the fishing is better with live bait and gave the impression we could stay out longer since we lost so much time. Well once our original 4 hour block was up, it was straight back to the dock. With all that being said, Capt. Frankie worked hard to get us bait and fish. Chalk it up to a bad day of bait fishing. I would book again based on our experience and all the great reviews which brought us to him in the first place.

Hi Mr. ThatWeasel, We are very thankful for your business and your honest and constructive feedback. Congrats on the tarpon you caught during your trip and thank you for including the photo of it in your post. Your trip was a tough one for Capt. Frankie getting the fresh live bait. It does happen from time to time, and you are completely correct that we should have chipped in some extra time for those rare instances where it takes us more time to get the bait. Actually, we always do chip in extra time voluntarily, even though we do not spend extra time getting the bait. Our captains love to be out there fishing and enjoy spending extra time fishing. This is totally on US! This specific day, Capt. Frankie had a personal commitment and could not give you that extra time that we usually do. Next time you visit us, we will give you two extra hours free of charge! Tight lines!

Captain Frankie took my girlfriend and I out today for a 4-hour in-shore fishing trip and it absolutely exceeded our expectations. His knowledge was extremely obvious when he knew EXACTLY where to go to catch the live sardines we used as bait. He knew precisely where to go to fish and was right on the money when he described the times the Tarpon would be biting. We caught 4 Tarpon between my girlfriend and myself and several more good bites and a few jumps out of the water before they came off the hook. He encouraged us to remain positive and PATIENT and it totally paid off. Would absolutely book again and wouldn’t have anyone take us out on the water except for Captain Frankie.

Was in San Juan for convention and had a morning free. Signed up for half day charter with Captain Frankie and had a great morning. Each of us caught 2 tarpon with largest being 60ish pounds.

Captain Frankie was energetic and had a pleasant attitude. Thoroughly enjoyed my time with him and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun outing targeying tarpon.

Great half day of inshore fishing with Captain Kevin! He put us on fish — 10-12 small-medium sized snook, a couple of Jack, and hooked a decent size tarpon that I lost. Caught some live bait pretty easily and drifted the same sea wall for the afternoon. The bite stayed hot, so no need to move around.

Everything was taken care of for us: castnetting bait, rigging/baiting lines, landing fish, etc. Had a cooler setup with ice, waters and sodas. All we needed to do was show up, enjoy the sun and catch fish.

Kevin was a super nice guy and allowed us to be as involved/ not as we wanted. I can’t sit still, so he was happy to let me cast a swim bait while we drifted, toss the sabiki, etc. while he handled everything else. When we were getting ready to leave, we drove up on some baitfish getting chased around and jumping out of the water. Kevin was happy to stop and stick around the extra time to bag a couple more easy fish rather than rush us home and pass up on the opportunity. I’m sure many other charters wouldn't have stopped, so that was a real good-guy move in my opinion. All around great trip, would recommend to anyone!

Fishing was slow but it’s the fishes fault. Captain Kevin was a great host answered our questions and camaraderie with a great attitude for 7 in the morning. Caught two nice size tarpon and got bites all morning. Next time we’re back in Puerto Rico we’ll be coming back for deep sea fishing.

I am in disbelief of what we have endured for the past four hours. We are a family of 4- kids ages seven and nine. We signed up for the four hour tour with the understanding that there would be multiple fish we would be fishing for with the potential of a tarpon. Additionally, we expected that if we caught anything That we would want to keep as long as it was not a required catch and release. We would be able to keep it and the charter would clean and fillet it. Upon arrival Yarmon met us, and he was nice enough, but he quickly informed us that they did not clean or fillet anything..that all was a catch an release? What?! I specifically picked this charter for this reason. Then for the next 40 min we went out to a “perfect spot” - caught literally nothing. Might have something to do with the fact that all of the bait was dead..and it was sardines and that is it. All dead sardines. We caught nothing.
Finally we asked him to take us to another spot..and he then proceeded to take us to what seemed like an abandoned marina..literally docked the boat y’all…so no different then fishing off a dock. Wth? We did that until the swarms of flies became unbearable.
Bc I say again our bait was dead fish. Yes hundreds of flies - it was disgusting.
I called it quits at that point.. there was only 45 min left anyways to the charter..I then proceeded to contact the owner Luis and all he did was tell me that it was a shame that I ended the charter early? Are u kidding? Apparently he also said dead bait is the best bait? Really?
No apologies
No offer of even the slightest discount. The not catching fish I get bc I’ve been on several charters and that is not up controllable.
What is controllable is false advertisement: don’t say you use live bait or that you will clean/fillet fish when you have zero intention of doing so.

Choose a different charter.

We went on a fishing trip with Capt. Luis he had a lot of experience and we started off chasing sardines. At first it was a little slow but that’s how fishing is. We went to different spots and it was a beautiful trip watching the sunset and all the Bay Area and San Juan. We ended catching some big fish and my son was super happy.
I recommend for a great family experience.
