About
Old school sailing, authentic, and a touch of culture. No fake pirates, nor crowds, no unnecessary engine noises, no straight boring cats . . . we go sideways, just like real sailboats do in groups of up to 6. We provide sailboat rides by the historical bay of San Juan, including 2 drinks per person complimentary, aboard a fast fun to sail J30 racer cruiser that may sail as smooth or as sporty as you want. The ride is suitable for sightseeing and photo shooting. We have also an auxiliary inboard engine and toilet. Info and booking at sailsanjuanbay.com

Great Sail on the Bay of Old San Juan. Sailing team was great and navigated the wind and waves. We felt very safe with the team. They gave some history and pointed out some areas of interest. We enjoyed the beautiful day and got to see some unique views of old San Juan!

My fiancee and I thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon on the water, under sail, on San Juan Bay. This was my gift to him for Father's Day. A little hazy but beautiful. Thanks to the captain he made sure we were confortable and offer us drinks. Thank you for such a wonderful experience. Definetely will sail again with sail San Juan Bay!

It was great for me spending Father's Day afternoon with you, I'm glad you had fun. The haziness, was a historical Sahara Dust atmospheric event.

First of all, I found out about this option when I was visiting a travel kiosk across from the Stellaris Casino in Condado...the trip adviser named Heidi was AMAZING and had brochures about Sail San Juan. Ivan (the captain) was in the kiosk and recommended his service and It turned out to be one of the best parts of our whole trip.

We opted for the sunset cruise and we were the only two aboard, minus the captain.
I do feel like we were very lucky with the sunset cooperating and the smooth ride. The fact that it was overcast in every place except for where the sun was setting really helped to showcase the beautiful colors.

Ivan was great about explaining the tourist places as well as some local suggestions based on our interests. He got us close to the shoreline, which allowed us to take some great pictures and on top of it all---we were served beer (option of mimosas/water) and light snacks....this was totally unexpected but was a nice touch to the experience. He also allowed us to hook up our phone to play music over the speakers. All of this may seem insignificant, but it only served to enhance our experience.

Overall, we would recommend this to anyone. We would consider using this service again for charter or another venture out around the bay.

Had this planned, paid for transportation to get here, got here and waited 20min, Called the person over it and they said it was cancelled due to rain when it hadn’t rained in the last two hours. I got no message saying that it was cancelled. What a waste of my time and money!

Unfortunately, we don't sail under rain and even though we are usually pretty good with the weather forecast AT THE SAILING AREA, it's the forecast!. The cancellations for weather reason get refunded. I can understand how bad is not sailing with us, we recommend to check the weather and to READ your text and emails while you are in vacations.

We were very excited to do this, a sail at sunset in San Juan Bay, and it started off okay. It is “real sailing” according to the description and that means tight quarters for guests. The boat takes six people, squeezed together in order to avoid being hit by the boom when the sail comes around
But then the mast broke and it was a struggle for the 2 crew to regain control of the sail and stow it. Not fun, kind of frightening. When the mast broke, it jerked its steel cable at the stern. A woman was fortunate to be startled but unharmed - she had the cable under her armpit and barely escaped serious injury or worse.
Minimal apology was made for the equipment malfunction. There was no concern for the guest/cable incident. There was no attempt to understand guest fright or disappointment, let alone somehow compensate.
It was casually mentioned at the time that the boat is scheduled for an overhaul in a couple weeks. The mast had been repaired for the same reason a couple weeks prior. Perhaps this breakdown was also part of the authentic sailing experience promoted in the description.
I was shocked by the rude and insulting response received from the owner when concerns about safety and suggestions for improvement of small details of guest experience were submitted to him after our less than stellar outing.
The owner’s response completely ignored the mast breakage and cable danger. I was treated to his standard “this is not disney” reply, as well as other remarks that imply that any negative thoughts about the experience are purely the fault of the guest.
The crew did have the gall to ask for a great review as we departed.
I deeply regret financially supporting this arrogant and unprofessional man.

This is a malicious review. Our masts are ok. This person probably didn't sailed with us. If a mast gets to break, or a boat sinks you'll be telling a story of success that would include the US Coat Guard. To know about us, please refer to other 1000 reviews about this experience, from people who sailed with us. Look for Sail San Jun Bay all over social media. Our sailboat it's a J30 Sailboat that can accommodate 6 people by the cockpit or distributed in the deck area. It's a real sailing boat that goes hilling and the crew have to do some work to get it to sail. It is fast and fun for many people of all ages, it's true sailing experience! Small companies like ours, cannot work much on the pre-booking like chatting over the text or answering the phone to tell you step by step how to get to the location. Google it's actually better than us on that matter, and the different reservation system works very well, but when it get to sailing, we are committed to give you our best.

I had the worst experience with this man, as he was talking he conti6to downgrade puertorico to tourist which got me upset than he gave a touring the boat to drive will he served drinks. I was speaking to another tourist when he told me to be quite. When I informed him of his professionalism he returned everyone's money but told me not you. Think twice before going dont waste your money.

Unfortunately, the lady writing this review, changed her behavior dramatically with the alcoholic drinks. Turning against the captain, with a very improper language, bad words all the time, not normal at all in this experience. If you have problems with alcohol, please don't drink. About our tour, it is true, we describe a real Puerto Rico, and as professional in IT and businessman in different areas, people like to ask and discuss different themes. We avoid politics. Usually, we provide recommendations where locals go and not. Sail San Juan Bay is an authentic sailing experience, administrated by locals, not an amusement park. We apologized deeply for the behavior of this customer to the others and returned the money to them. This is the first time in 11,000 customers sailed, someone misbehave like this and hope to be the last. Capt. Ivan

They canceled my booking with no explanation, although the forecast was for perfect weather and I had booked 4 days in advance. When I checked the site for another time, that same date and time were open again. So I signed up again. They canceled it again, with no explanation.
I planned my other reservations based on when I would be doing this tour, and now everything is out of whack.

Unfortunately, this method of booking doesn't display the exact number of availability, so about 60% of the bookings we receive from TripAdvisor, gets cancelled. We apologize for the inconvenience. We have sailed at this point 9,600 customers who have ranked us 5 stars.

Sadly we missed the cruise because another tour operator told us we were part of her group. She was wrong! The company refused to reschedule us. We lost $200

The customer didn't showed up on time, so we had to go with 2 spots empty out of 6. They bought another tour, then still tried requesting a refund. Show up early, avoid getting creative

Don't books with them! Scam! Scam! Scam!! 😞😓😩 Dont take this tour.. They are a scam!! No clear instructions on how to get to their boat. Wouldn't answer calls or messages. Wouldn't provide a refund either. We arrived on time and they weren't there. Instructions stated that there would a security guard to direct us to their boat but they weren't there.

This happens if you don't show on time, we go sailing with others who did and some empty PRE-PAID spots. We only take 6 passenger per vessel, so booking with us requires responsibility and basic skills such like READING our info

I wish I could give a warning rather than a terrible review… the boat looked nice but we never went on it So sad that our trip was cancelled- I checked my email during my lunch break12-1…. Didn’t see anything on the radar either so we went to the slip…. When no one was there I double checked my email- to see that the trip had been cancelled a little after 1:00. I wish they would have texted this information…. We made the most of being at the marina and took the tour on a larger boat… but be wary about making reservations…. It can be cancelled without any explanation…. There was rain early in the day- but rain after 12:00….

Calling off for forecast it's captains call. Commercial USCG captains carries big responsibility. Sometimes weather forecast it's pretty erratic or unpredictable, and calls could be made even if you are there, just before . . . . safety first
