To begin with Puerto Rico restrictions due to covid put a bad vibe on our trip as I was planning my little cousins birthday trip but I didn’t let it get to me. Atabey tours was the first activity out of 3 activities I planned and the only one I stayed with because of their flexibility . This tour was the only one that offered transportation, food stops and a decent duration time to where I feel was worth it .Even with a reservation mishap Andres still personally worked with me and my guest and even issued my full refund with no issue once I rebooked the mystery extreme tour wit the correct date . The tour gives you an exclusive look into the islands secret pleasures that gave me a feeling of nature I could never get in the city. After the first location We felt we were all friends because Andres did a great job of making us all feel comfortable with nature & taking on the challenge . Only thing I would recommend is maybe some safety vests for those who aren’t able to join in on more extreme aspects but The whole tour was an experience that was very much worth it and my family will never forget !

Andres and Atabey Tours are world class. I give this tour service the highest possible recommendation.
I met Andres, out of chance, watching a sunset by the Castillo San Felipe del Morro. We talked for 30 minutes or so about life, music, meditation, etc, and then and caught dinner at a local Puerto Rican staple. It was a genuine human connection.
Andres told me that he has a tour business that takes people all over the island of Puerto Rico to connect them with the land and with themselves.
Fast forward to three days later. Andres picked me up from my hostel in San Juan and we drove into the heart of El Yunque National Forest to commune with Mother Nature, or as the native Taino people of Puerto Rico call her: "Atabey."
Prior to entering the Forest, we stopped at an organic cafe and had delicious kombucha and veggie burgers and then rode into the lush forest.
We spent a few hours hiking through this beautiful, mystic, misty rainforest and talking about life, love, loss, and the passing of time.
The peak of this experience was a storybook perfect waterfall. We bathed in its waters and meditated in front of it.
It was a magical experience. Andres isn't just running a tour company, he's running a conscious business that seeks to connect us with this beautiful planet we live on.
Andres is a wonderful human being who exudes friendliness, kindness, and compassion. He also holds very deep knowledge and passion for the island of Puerto Rico.
He is as close to the perfect guide as you could ask for. Take a tour with Atabey Tours without any hesitation.

I have lots of remote wilderness experience and usually put together my own independent trips (I’m not a tour guide person AT ALL) but this was better by far than anything I could have organized for myself in Puerto Rico. Atabey Tours takes you to places not in any guidebook and invites you to experience it as the pre-colonization people did: with wonder, gratitude, and playfulness. I was nervous at first to jump into unknown rivers or walk barefoot in the jungle, but surrendering to the waters and earth was healing and inspiring. I quickly learned to trust my guide and myself more deeply. Tell Andres what challenge level you’re looking for and he will meet you there! His genuine spiritual connection to these secret spots is offered as a gift for you to experience and learn from. He will also tell you about PR ecology (plants and animals), native culture, history, music, food, dance, and more if you ask!! If you are an experienced world traveler or outdoor adventurer, don’t pass up this opportunity because you think “tours” aren’t your thing. Andres is one of us and a delight to connect with. This tour is worth it.

We enjoyed a 3+ hour tour with Andres through old San Juan. He had a ton of information on the history of the city and took us off the beaten path to La Perla for some authentic Puerto Rican cuisine. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and laid back. 10/10 recommend!!

This tour turned out being the very best part of our trip! Andres picked us up near our hotel and got us all loaded up. The vehicle was spotless! We drove from San Juan to the rainforest and Andres taught us a lot about PR on our drive. He’s such an interesting guy with a lot to tell and lots of experience. We drove up the mountains to the rainforest with the windows down and enjoyed the clean, crisp air, it felt amazing. We started out visiting the waterfall that everyone seems to visit but when you’re with the right guide, they can help you find those off the path spots no one else gets to see. At first it seemed intimidating and while we were a little sore the day after it was completely worth it. Andres is a little braver than we were, opting to explore barefoot! He’s one with the rainforest. Haha. After some beautiful sightseeing, some dunks in the cold mineral water and photos in front of the waterfalls we headed back to the car. Now, the rainforest was pretty great but the 4 of us in our party all agreed what came next was the best. Andres knows good food and he knows where to find it. Just trust him. When we arrived at the restaurant he brought us too we were so overwhelmed with the view we didn’t think the food could top the view but it did. It’s one of those experiences that absolutely makes the entire trip. After enjoying some beers, food, the beautiful ocean and each other we hopped back in the car. We had a little time and Andres was so kind and took us through a quick drive of La Perla. When we first got to San Juan people warned us of La Perla… La Perla was the best part SECOND to the restaurant Andres took us to. It was so cool we had to go back the next day. Andres, THANK YOU so much for your communication with me and for taking us on what was the highlight of our trip. I cannot thank you enough. It was a blast getting to hear your crazy stories of a youth in PR, your music and your advice. 5 Stars all the way around!!

What can I possibly say about atabey tours? Only the best things! Andres was one of the most delightful souls I have encountered. His vibes were immaculate and he showed us the most amazing locales.
The sight-seeing was one thing, but more importantly was Andres’ heart. He peppered the whole tour with amazing personal stories that made the scenery really come alive. I am so appreciative of this experience. This is for anyone who wants to truly experience Puerto Rico in all of its richness and within a personal oasis. If you’re also looking to cleanse your skin of toxins, Andres knows the miracle mud to do just that.

We had two amazing days with Andres - one day touring Old San Juan and the other exploring the rainforest. Andres is much more than a "tour guide" - by the middle of the first day, he felt like an old friend, who happened to know a lot about the places we were visiting. We are a family of 4 (with two teenagers) and we all enjoyed the mix of adventure, history, storytelling, humor and passion for Puerto Rico and its culture that Andres brought to the days we spent with him. Andres' experiences traveling throughout the world, his interest in music and his sense of adventure make him a great person to spend time with. Our whole family could not recommend him more highly.

We had the best time ever on this tour!!! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and we felt safe the entire time. Would highly recommend as you get to experience PR off the beaten path and get a true sense of the land in a small group.

We were on a Viking ship and wanted to connect with a local who would take us to the "special places" of San Juan. We had seen the city many times and were ready to experience the rain forest, waterfalls, beaches and special neighborhoods around San Juan. Andres met us at a waterfront cafe to plan our day. At age 81 and 74 my wife and I are adventurous buy have some mobility restrictions. He did a great job of planning our day so we could be surrounded by the beauty of Puerto Rico, climb to see a waterfall, feel the ocean mist and finish with a coffee in Santurce. He was a pleasure to meet and a well-informed nature guide. We enjoyed our mini adventure and will ask for his help again when we return next year.

Andres is an amazing guide. We came to Peurto Rico with another family and he was great at accommodating our group of 9. We did two tours one hiking down to a natural slide and then jumping off cliffs to swim to a waterfall. The natural beauty was incredible. We had everything from pristine waterfalls, natural mud baths, waterfalls, drying out on hot stones in our tour. It was the most memorable magical day of our trip.
We also did a walking tour of San Juan and Andres is incredible at accommodating your group to make it a unique experience for your individual group, needs, what you want to see, and your sense of adventure. He creates an experience you wouldn’t get anywhere else. He takes you off the beaten path and creates a curated experience based on what your group wants to do.
He also recommended one of the best meals we had in Puerto Rico.
If you want a feeling of a local friend showing you around and to create an incredible memorial experience while in Puerto Rico then book with Atabey Tours.
Hands down a MUST while you’re in Puerto Rico.
