Karen is an amazing person, very friendly, professional, helpful, accommodating and down to earth. The visibility was about 10 - 15 feet. It varies quite a lot based on the sea conditions. She is a great instructor and ensured that I know the basic scuba diving skills before the dive and I even learnt a couple of new tricks from her. She has been diving in the same spot for 45 years and knows every inch of the reef. She knows where each fish is and they come to her when they see her. She took a bunch of photos while I was scuba diving and didn’t even charge me for them. She is an amazing person and my diving experience exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended her, I bet you won’t be disappointed.

Folks- let me upfront - if you are interested in a teacher that genuinely cares about the area in which you are diving, and is capable of ensuring your safety as well as your enjoyment and education, then you are at the right place with the right guide. Karen is experienced (over 40 years), and enjoys what she is doing. She also expects that you are there to learn and to dive safely. She makes sure to keep her customers safe, but also for them to take responsibility for their own safety. Now then - onto the dive! After a short re-familiarization update (clearing mask underwater, hand signals for some of the anticipated aquatic life, Karen's instructions for how best to buddy up), we went under. Spotted a flounder on the floor almost immediately! Spiny lobster (also a previously occupied shell). This area has some well placed artificial reefs. Karen brought a bag of compressed bread, which made us very popular with the fish! Angel fish, grouper, grunts, chromis, french angel fish, were some of the species we encountered. We went up over the main reef (just a swim over), and continued. With Karen's help, I was able to handle a sea star! She also found a live conch, and was able to get it to emerge a bit from its shell. I think next time I would have stayed longer, to see if we could see sea turtles in another area. This is a nice dive - great for a beginner like me, or just someone looking for a relaxed dive. Great visibility, and lots to see in a short dive.

Should you be so fortunate to dive at Escambron Park in San Juan, Puerto Rico, look no further than Caribe Aquatic Adventures. Karen Vega, Owner and operator of the company, has a very rich knowledge of the reefs that surround the town. As well she should, considering she's been diving down here for 40+ years! See if any of her competitors can say THAT! We ventured to multiple areas, including the Figure 8 and the Horseshoe reefs. We even did some cave diving! While many dive outfits seek to pack their trips to maximize their profits per outing, Karen will gladly take you for a one-on-one trip and prefers the smaller groups since there's so much more of a personal connection you get during a more intimate dive session vs. the cattle parade!

The propieter, Karen has a fond love the ocean and all the beauty within as I witnessed her pickup debris while diving. Her first concern is safety and ensuring divers see the diversity the marine park has to offer. She is a genuine safety diver and instructor. I sincerely feel the marine park is more for the novice diver or those needing a refresher course. Yes I enjoyed my time in and out of the water with Karen as she is a local and responds quickly to calls and emails, Lets continue to support the small guys with big hearts.
