About
It's a door, yes, but not any door. The Puerta de la Bandera is a place of national pride for all Puerto Ricans and a place of cultural appreciation for those who visit us. The door is painted with the Puerto Rican flag. The flag on the door was originally painted with the traditional colors of the Puerto Rico flag but in 2016, the year in which Puerto Rico lived tense economic and social situations, the flag was painted white and black as a symbol of protest and resistance. That caused the white and black flag to become a popular image that went viral on social networks.

So I would have missed this door if I hadn’t seen a couple of people having their pictures taken in front of it. I got down there and was a little disappointed, however the remains of a mural on either side of the door was very cool in my opinion. I may go back for some better pics of the figures.

I have three Airbnb properties and love to share my favorite places with my guests and Trip Advisor gives me this opportunity to share with even more people from around the world! This time I brought one of my guests for a day walk in Old San Juan! We ended up at Anita's Gelatto of course!!

Located in the Old SJ, close to the San Sebastián street. Very symbolic flag with its color, represents protests from locals

For this to be considered a "tourist" spot to take pictures, it is a little rough. It has fallen a little crooked and isn't in the best shape but still makes for a decent picture.

I’m from Puerto Rico and recently opened my Airbnb room in Santurce near La Placita and came with one of my guests to Old San Juan and she wanted a picture here... she took pictures of me that I’m sharing here!! There is another one with all the colors near la Perla. Have fun in Old San Juan and get a coffee at Finca Cialito for the Best Coffee in Old San Juan!!

it’s a somewhat hard-to-find famous door on an abandoned building in Old San Juan. It’s called “La Puerta de la Bandera”, Flag Gate.

Wow.

When googling “the most instagramable spots in Puerto Rico,” you will see La Puerta de La Bandera on the list, and it is a sight to see..and more.

When I went there bubbles floating in the air, and the colors were vibrant, which makes the black and white mural something you cannot miss. I visited in the afternoon, and it wasn’t too packed with tourists (such as myself lol) trying to snag a photo. So I wouldn’t be too worried. Make sure to go with time so you can read about why the mural is black and white. It really makes you want to do something about the injustice PR has endured.

Overall, def. a place to stop by!
