This was a highlight to our trip. We were absolutely delighted with the excellent tour guide Robert Talavera of Sunset Tours. A native Puerto Rican with the best customer servise skills. We enjoyed every minute of our trour. We contacted Robert via email and agreed on Combo Tour- Rainforest-Bioluminicent Kayak , he picked us up at the hotel and spent with us the entire day. It was clear that Robert enjoys sharing the knowledge. He gave us a good balance of time with him and time on our own to explore. Our party was two families with kids. Robert hiked with us down to the waterfall. We enjoyed stopping at a very nice local restaurant that allowed us to experience the local food. I can't recommend Robert highly enough! www.sunsettourpr.com 787-615-1168

On our cruise we had an evening stop in Puerto Rico & chose the Bio Bay tour through Sunset Tours. I am very thankful that we did not book our trip through our cruise ship but through Robert instead. I had called Robert before our cruise to go over the details of our excursions & he assured me that everything would work out perfectly and it did. He described the beautiful sights on the way to Fajardo to us & my kids really liked him a lot, he was very nice to talk to & you can tell he loves Puerto Rico. The tour was absolutely magical & something our family will never forget. The kayak tour was such an adventure & to witness the bioluminescence in person was breathtaking. Robert got us back to our cruise ship in plenty of time & next time we're in PR I'm booking the Rainforest tour through him.
On a personal note: I was panicked to discover that I had forgotten my good camera with our vacation photos at Bio Bay. Robert went back & made sure that my camera was found & was mailed back to me in Colorado. My kids think he's pretty awesome! It's hard to find such friendly, honest customer service like that nowadays. I really cannot recommend Robert & Sunset tours enough

Recently my wife and I were scheduled for a tour with Robert. But, about three days before our arrival, Robert's vehicle broke down and required some apparently extensive repairs. He was unable to conduct our tour. Many operators would just cancel the tour and that would be the end of it. But, I have to compliment Robert. He emailed us very promptly and told us what had happened. He then enrolled us in a tour of the same location with one of his competitors. So, when we arrived, we were able to go on our tour - just not with him. He emailed us all the necessary contact information, tour times, etc for the new tour so that we would have no problem.

I appreciate Robert's great customer service.

My mother, brother, and I did this tour today and it was great! Our guide for our tour was Roberto. What a wonderful guide! He knew so much about the history of El Yunque Rainforest and the diverse history of Puerto Rico. Our tour had 4 stops, and at each stop he explained several plants and their history. He gave us time to look at things on our own. The first stop was the Welcome Center where he gave us a preview of what we would see during our hike. The second stop was the watch tower, which has 98 steps. The views at the top of Puerto Rico and the highest peak were breath taking. Our third stop was the trail hike to the waterfall. This 1.5 mile trail was paved but did post some walking challenges if you have small children. Once you reach the waterfall you have the option of dipping into the cool El Yunque waters. After the hjke, we are given a cold bottled water. The last stop was an authentic Puerto Rican meal at a local restaurant. The cost of the food was very reasonable and taste delicious.I would recommend using Sunset Tours.
Ps- beware of traveling during peak seasons because the trail can be crowded.

On September 3, 2011 I celebrated a milestone birthday in San Juan a couple of days before embarking on a seven day southern caribbean cruise. Based on the excellent traveler reviews found in this site, I emailed ROBERTO the Monday before I left home and requested a private tour for four friends and myself. ROBERTO responded within hours and agreed to include most of the sites that we requested, and for a reasonable price. On the day of our scheduled tour ROBERTO appeared at our hotel on time and made us feel so comfortable in our new surroundings that we immediately felt at home. ROBERTO went "above and beyond" the requirements and specifications of our proposed tour and was very generous with his time, energy, patience, information, and air-conditioned van. Our tour ran well beyond the intended time frame and he willingly invested the extra time required and never once rushed us through the various sites and attractions. We of course obliged him with a generous tip and hereby recommend him very highly to anyone traveling to San Juan looking for a very personable and exceptional tour guide.

We were in San Juan for a day during our cruise last week and had prearranged a tour of the Rainforest with Sunset Tours. We met our guide, Roberto across from the port at 7:30 am. He had us in the rainforest by 9:00 am. He took us to a few waterfalls for photos, a observation tower, a 1.5 mile hike in the rainforest to a waterfall that we went swimming in, and then took us to a local eatery for some lunch. After lunch we went back to Old San Juan and he showed us all kinds of sites including 2 of the forts. Roberto told us all kinds of information about the wildlife in the rainforest and the history of Old San Juan. My kids and I totally enjoyed our tour with him, it was one of the best days of our vacations. We spent all day with Roberto and learned so much from him. He had us back to our ship with plenty of time to spare too.

We hired a guide to make us visit the tropical forest named El Yunke in Porto Rico. This forest is in a US National Park and is a fantastic and beautiful site.
Our guide Robert bring us to the site and make us a wonderful day by explaining a lot of particular things we encountered during this full day visit.

This guide is the owner of Sunset Tours PR and I strongly recommanded him. Robert bring us to the trail in the rain forest. We took the trail down for about 1 mile long. It took us about 1h to get to the end of it. In the middle of this trail there is a very nice fall in which you can swim. Don't miss it, that worth the effort.

My wife and I, always get in Porto Rico 1 day before leaving for a cruise trip because all the exciting things to do in Porto Rico.

Robert was a wonderful tour guide for the rain forest. He picked up our group of 3 couples in a large van at our hotel. Our day was filled with information and laughter. We like to laugh and have fun, and he fit right in. We went on some trails off the beaten path to a waterfall that other tours were passing by. After the rain forest we stopped at a local open air restaurant for some decent food. Robert also does a tour of Old San Juan. We would love to do that on a future trip. I would definitely recommend this rain forest tour. Wear walking shoes, no sandals.

This is a small tour company owned by Robert T. He communicated easily and promptly with me in arranging and paying for the tour weeks ahead of our trip. We purchased a El Yunque rain forest tour and a trip to bio-bay. We were supposed to go with other people, as it is not economical for Robert to take one couple in a big van all over the territory covered by this all-day tour. However, he promptly arrived to pick us up at our hotel and took us on a private tour, even though the other people had canceled last minute. He had a comfortable van to travel in. He drives safely and slowly. I will say that, regardless of how he stresses it, BRING A PONCHO or at least an umbrella when visiting the rain forest. We got soaked, but I loved it anyway. Wear good, non-slip shoes. It is beautiful and tropical, and if you love birds and plants of all kinds, you will agree. After the rain forest tour, Robert took us to a local restaurant in, I believe, Luquillo where the three of us enjoyed a good meal and beer. Then we went on to Fajardo to join other people in a two-person kayak night caravan through mangroves out to a body of water that has dinoflagellates that light up when the water is disturbed. Robert took pics of us and waited for us and then delivered us back to our hotel, well after dark. It was such a fun and memorable day. I highly recommend this young man to all!!!

After researching possible tours for the Rainforest and Bioluminescent experience we felt that Sunset Tours with Robert would be a good choice. I contacted him and within a very short time he contacted me. I immediately felt at ease booking with him. We are a family of 6 ranging from 12 to 53. The tour was perfect for all of us (including our twelve year old who has a broken foot and hobbled around on crutches.) Robert was accommodating. Robert is a wealth of information who enjoyed talking to us about Puerto Rico. The rainforest was rather crowded with people but that couldn't be avoided. After we left the forest, Robert took us to a "Kiosk" area where there are several open air style restaurants. He guided us in the direction of making some good choices; all of us enjoyed the experience. Our oldest daughter is Vegan and she was happy with what she found. We wrapped up our day taking the Kayak Biolumisescent Tour. We loved it! Kayaking under the Mangroves and in the dark was fun. We are experienced Kayakers; however, others in our Kayak tour weren't and they made it a challenge. Afterward, we made the drive back to San Juan and enjoyed our conversation with Robert. He gave us a recommendation for a "Local" eatery outside our hotel and we ate there the next night. Our tour with Sunset Tours and Robert was exactly what we wanted. It was a long day but it went fast. If you want to do the Rainforest and Bioluminescent tour I would recommend booking the combo. We weren't exhausted and glad we did both of them. You won't be disappointed in booking with Robert!!
