Beautiful residential area where the Plaza del Mercado closes and turns into the night life of the city. This is the place to dance Salsa. I was surprised of how many people were there and public safety, even closing the streets for pedestrians. Plenty of restaurants for different tastes. Lots of loud music and dance.

This little neighborhood surrounding the placito is so fun. Many good restaurants with outdoor eating, whole families together, dancing. Two good choices are Chiccarone and Asere for PR food and Cuban. Try the grilled octopus

Twice we have gone to the Plaza del Mercado in Santurce. If you want a true "local" experience, then go here on a Friday night. After the Market closes, and the sun goes down, the party begins. Santurce is where the locals go around for dinner and drinks, you can find yourself enjoying live music at la placita del Mercado at calle Canals, where you'll find plenty of restaurants and bars, Santurce also has two museums, plenty of cafes to enjoy a true puertorrican coffee experience. Steets and avenues may not be as appealing, but keep looking... More
